I have a few cassette and MiniDisc portable audio players that use  "gumstick" NiMH batteries -- but I didn't have a way to way to easily  recharge them. Instead of buying a charger, I made an adapter that lets  me use one I already have.

I have a Panasonic portable CD player from 2003 and it charges the batteries in the player. Also has a magnetic charger. Maybe Apple copied the Magsafe idea from Panasonic? The original batteries that are 17 years old still work great and actually hold a decent charge... although that's probably because I used the player from 2003-2006 and then put it away for years until recently.

Clever idea to reuse what already works great instead of adding more junk to a collection. Nice work.
