My Bose QC35 headphones generally worked fine, but I was never thrilled  with how they sounded. So I bought a pair of Sony WH-1000XM4's instead.  Are they what I hoped they'd be?

These definitely look interesting, but a bit beyond what I'm willing to spend on headphones these days (at least at the rate that I've been killing the cans I've used over these past few years...). I only just recently decided to try out a pair of wireless cans, wound up grabbing a pair of Anker Soundcore Life Q20s that I spotted on sale last month. A bit more basey then I normally prefer, and no fancy companion app like these Sonys to tweak the EQ, but for something in the sub $100 price range I think I could have done a hell of a lot worse.

I’m pretty agree with your analysis. I have tested a lot of cans over the years wireless or not (Grado, Aideze, Stax...) a lot of expensive rigs in fact. It happens when you are on a audiophile quest... And after all my prefered headphones are AKG K701 and in an other hand my Grado RS2 but it’s exhausting my ears. Anyway, thank you Colin! 😁
