We went a little easy on the Cass Report in our last main feed episode, so we're back to [Mortal Kombat voice] FINISH HIM!!!

You can play the episode directly through Patreon or use our RSS feed to add it to your podcast app. Here are the instructions from Patreon.

Also: This bonus is a little different in that we're going to release it on the main feed! As two cisgender people we feel weird about earning money based on our work on this issue and with trans rights under attack on both sides of the Atlantic we want to get as much info out to the public as possible. We'll also be making donations to the lovely trans people who helped us with the research and fact-checking of these episodes as well as some UK charities that work with trans youth.

As ever, leave a comment if you've got requests for future Patreon bonus episodes.

See you next month!

Given the recent push for Ozempic that's been discussed on this podcast, I think it's really interesting how 2/3 of patients discontinuing therapy within one year is still evidence that it's a drug that EVERYONE NEEDS TO TAKE but 3/4 studies showing that medical interventions for trans people are generally positive is ✨️i n c o n c l u s i v e✨️ 🤦‍♂️

Also interesting seeing how any form of support for trans kids is framed as being harmful, but no one's worried about gastric bypass surgery being pushed on pre-teens or kids being separated from their families because they're overweight 🤦‍♂️

I've be re-listening to the RFK-episodes and holy sh*t, the "vaccines-cause-autism" part is IDENTICAL to the rapid onset gender dysphoria stuff! 🤯

Just here to add that the new UK health secretary has confirmed that he intends to pursue with banning puberty blockers for trans kids (if he’s able to, pending an ongoing court process). It’s frustrating and devastating; kids will die as a result of this (and sadly have already). If we ever thought that a Labour government would be more progressive on trans rights it looks like that absolutely isn’t the case. I hope it’s ok to mention the Good Law Project here; they have an ongoing fundraiser to fight this potential ban and are doing some excellent work in this regard.

Great episode as always, so glad yall are out there bringing sense and compassion to these topics. My only nit pick in 100 episodes is how Mike pronounced the Uvalde town name 😅

Since you guys are less specifically focused on the diet industry and more focused on public health stuff recently, I’m requesting an episode about cyclist/ pedestrian deaths. One of my friends was just killed riding her bike home in Philly, and it’s baffling to me how we seem to just accept this as the cost of doing business. I know Mike is a bike guy, so please take this comment as a request to finally rant about bike lanes

Kayla Hilliard

Co-signed. I live in Philly, too, and the recent deaths of bikers combined with Mayor Parker's administration refusing to take meaningful action to protect bikers is infuriating

When JK Rowling pops up to add to have a go at female athletes at the Olympics, I feel like we need a new bonus episode on where and how intersex people fit into the broader discourse about sex and gender. Particularly with the Olympics being on and there being two female boxers with naturally higher levels of testosterone. While it’s not clear if either are intersex, neither identify as trans and are not on hormones. Both are accused of being men anyway and a WHOLE LOT OF ANGRY PEOPLE making wild claims about their underlying ‘true’ gender and yet again how “men” are infiltrating women’s sports. This happened at the Olympics a handful of years ago with over a runner called Caster Semenya, who also triggered a similar debate at an earlier stage of where this kind of vitriol about gender and sport was. Could be a necessary addendum to where we have gone already in the sorting out the hysterics and misinformation about the wider gender and gender identity discourse

Indeed, and both those boxers competed at Tokyo and the body that claimed they failed an unspecified gender test was so corrupt it had its governing authority stripped from it. In other words, the TERFs are now saying corrupt bodies should get to declare is and is not a woman. Imane Khelif has worked incredibly hard to get to where she is. https://www.unicef.org/algeria/en/stories/top-female-boxer-imane-khelif-dreams-gold-inspire-young-people?fbclid=IwY2xjawEafxlleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHbKqNUj3DRLuKOqUbO04oztoRbmogdGJcd6U2BB-tE3ym7MP0cVFyFZPIw_aem_Ub_o7Ze1zMKn2ms8FtTiGA

Finally scraped together enough mental health points to listen to this and the two main-feed ROGD episodes. Can't tell you how exhausting, miserable and soul-destroying it is living in the UK as a trans/nb person. Anyway, thanks for covering all of this with compassion and humour. Made me smile despite living on this wretched bloody island. <3
