Frustrating week :(.

I messed up the 2nd animation in Daz...nothing unusual. So I had to reload the scene. I tried to do that and just realized that I didn't save properly. Instead I did save the broken animation in the worst place possible, in the save file I use for the motel room.

It can happen easily. All scenes have to start somewhere and I have saved all the standard environments...for the tower, the workplace, the motel and so on.

So then you load your characters into the scene, delete the unnecessary stuff and start animating, and you have to save along the progress when you are satisfied. But the simple thing is that you have to do a new save file, because if you overwrite the existing one...you don't have your basic motelroom anymore.

tldr I'm an idiot, pressed save instead of save as new and had to rebuild the entire motel room. And then redo the animation from scratch.

Amazing week, like I just said. Man, anyone else here working with daz or blender and has had that happen? Because deep down I feel like this should have happened to me way more often. I remember deleting almost 4 pages in a word document and then instead of hitting "undo" i hit "save". Like a braindead donkey. Have to be more careful, and more backups are needed! Because this can happen to character models as well! I often play around with characters like the matriarch, altering them, making them younger or older for promo pictures...

and then you accidentally save the char and the original is gone forever and you have to try to recreate her. So I will spend some time tomorrow safely backing up everything related to shadow over blackmore!

tldr Remember to backup your stuff!

That's all for the week...

...are you guys have any good video game recommendations? What are you playing at the moment? I'm looking for a dystopian visual novel but haven't found anything good...the last real good game I played was Disco Elysium...

...stay kinky!

Gordian quest just came out of EA recently, that's what I've been playing. Not sure it's your kind of thing but honestly they deserve all the attention they can get.

Keep up the good work Darktoz, that Maid is awesome.

Not playing anything dystopian or VN, but I did just start a new farm in Stardew Valley. For me, it's the perfect anti-stress game lol

dexter83

in my opinion I do not consider it a big problem for me, as long as you do not create too much trouble in programming and in the future

Library of Ruina if you like deck builders. Definitely some dystopian sci-fi there.

Cure my Addiction and Patriarch , from another Patreon here

Darktoz

i love that game as well, but i always end up starting new farms instead of finally making one big final farm :D

Darktoz

oh, i am too good at messing things up and making mistakes. they will most likely happen in the future as well, so i am sorry in advance ;)

dexter83

ok i forgive you only if you put a lot more futanari in the future haha, joke i love what you do wrong it happens to everyone

when u think u gonna release the next update ?

Darktoz

you keep asking that under every post: The answer is I do not know! I am still at the beginning, it will require a lot of work and effort and I will let you know about the progress and the release in the posts. But when there is no current release date it is because I don't know when it is going to be released, not because I don't want you to know it

sorry i am just so excited :) won't ask not so many times anymore :)

I am sorry that this misfortune happened to you. All the trouble. The only consolation we can offer is regret. To the question: I have never found better games than Zork Nemesis - 1996 and Zork: The Grand Inquisitor - 1997 (both by Activision). While "Zork Nemesis" is dark, "Zork: The Grand Inquisitor" beguiles with its fine English humor and exuberant imagination. The graphics and usability are just great. It would be nice if the quality of the games had increased proportionally to the past time. Both games can still be bought for Win 95 & 98, but they cannot be installed in modern Windows (without in-depth PC knowledge). For a long time I've been thinking about getting hold of a Toshiba laptop with Win 98 just for this purpose.

Darktoz

i know about zork though I've never played it. you should take a log at GoG, they are pretty good at bringing old games to windows 10. Zork is on there as well! gog.com/de/game/zork_grand_inquisitor

Friendly Darktoz! Thanks for this tip. I wasn't aware of gog.com and that Zork was available for new Windows. Unfortunately only in English. I would like to recommend “Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands” to you again with the brief introduction of the game on the page: In a desolate corner of the Underground Empire, an evil demon torments the Land. Evil rules the Forbidden Lands. Here, the souls of the Empire’s Great Alchemists lie in perpetual hell…at the hands of the Nemesis. Now the forces of the Underground beckon you to uncover the mystery behind the Nemesis’ curse…Travel through five mind-bending worlds to discover the ancient secret of Alchemy that will free the trapped souls from evil’s grip….Before the Nemesis imprisons you with the others…For eternity. Do you dare enter the Forbidden Lands? https://www.gog.com/game/zork_nemesis_the_forbidden_lands I think Zork is a legend. Every PC player must dive into this world at least once.

Ahh... that's very annoying. I'm sorry for all the work you've done. But don't feel pressured now and take the necessary time, you'll do it ;) By the way, a sexy butt in the picture ^^

Luckily the way history works in most (no experience with Daz so I don't know about it in particular) applications is even if you hit "save" instead of "save as" it doesn't destroy your history. You can still undo to the limit of the number of actions in the buffer until you exit the program! Course, once you exit, your history for the session you made the mistake is gone so it becomes permanent except in some applications where history is also part of the saved state. Long explanation short, if your history buffer is long enough, you can save as the current state then peel back your changes till you reach your original state again then save it again (twice) once for a working file, and once in a second directory as a backup in case of damage.

Darktoz

you can undo actions, but not the save itself since saving is not an action. in daz you cannot go back too many actions, only like 14-20, so it is rather easy to mess up a scene. i asked in the official forums and the only thing that you could do was to reset windows to an earlier state if you have a backup before that file got overwritten

Ugh. My sympathies. I know not every software system has a large history buffer. And that's always correct with work being saved to disk. It's not subject to undo. But it is why you should always keep a backup file of your most common denominator if you're using a template and only operate on a copy of it rather than the original.
