Oooh, yes...Lithgow is so good in this, too! Good suggest. Make it a double feature with The Cable Guy just to see the reference.

Resubmiting unused suggestions!: Clue (1985), a who's who of 80s comedy talent does a wacky murder whodunnit based on the board game Contagion (2011), Steven Soderbergh's star studded tense thriller about a worldwide epidemic which, while a significantly worse plague than our real pandemic, ended up being prescient in certain ways about the reality of last year and today. Maverick (1994), an adventure/western/action/comedy adapting the 1957 tv show of the same name, about a slick, fast talking gambler and his misadventures attempting to acquire the entrance fee to a major poker tournament.  Stars Mel Gibson, with Jodie Foster, Alfred Molina, and James Garner.  A personal favorite from my youth. Speed Racer (2008), the Wachowski siblings campy bright kinetic action packed fun adaptation of the children's anime?  One of my favs. The King of Kong:  A Fistful of Quarters (2007), throwing a curveball:  a documentary.  It's pretty funny, about some super strange real life characters.  Talks about competitive arcade gaming, specifically a big fight over the world record for donkey kong.  It's a strange tale of underdogs, villains, and absurdity. John Carpenter's Escape from New York (1981), the beginning of the Carpenter / Kurt Russell trilogy before 1982's The Thing and 1986's Big Trouble in Little China. An over the top campy action scifi movie about Kurt's antihero Snake Plissken infiltrating a "future 1997" NYC that has become a giant prison (think Arkham City game), to save the President. It's the best kind of absurd. Miller's Crossing (1990). A mob movie by the Coen brothers. Nuff said, right?

Nerd Going Outside

The Count of Monte Cristo (2002) - Excellent depiction of a classic revenge story. Rear Window (1954) - I know, I know, old movie. Normally not what I would recommend for this channel, but it's one of Hitchcock's best, holds up very well, and might be a nice change of pace. The Green Mile (1999) - another adaptation of a Stephen King novella set in a prison by the same director who did Shawshank redemption, starring Tom Hanks.

Jed U

I Saw the Devil (2010, Korean “Revenge“ Thriller), Akira (1988, Anime Cyberpunk Action), The Mist (2007, Horror-Thriller), A Quiet Place (2018, Post-apocalyptic Thriller), Don’t Breathe (2016, “Trapped” Thriller), Shutter Island (2010, “Asylum” Mystery Thriller), Searching (2018, “Missing Person” Mystery)

The Death of Stalin

Tom Fehr

how about Annihilation? really cool/trippy movie from same guy that did Ex Machina

GaryJerryLarry

the Conjuring Poltergeist Slither the Dead Zone Pet Sematary IT the Ninth Gate

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Okay, so I know horror isn't Jimmy's thing, per se, but, since it is spooky season - and since The Thing was one of my favourite reactions on the channel - I figured it was only fitting to recommend what I consider to be the best of the best when it comes to horror (for Jimmy/Dummy.) I won't say anything else about the films because I think it's best to go in knowing absolutely nothing. - Misery (1990) - The Mist (2007) [b&w version, plz] - The Babadook (2014) - It Follows (2014)

Death of Stalin gang shows up for every poll, let’s hope it wins and this is the last time

Ninaofthe90s

"The Hunt" please. (2012 danish movie with Mads Mikkelsen). Either choose it for the poll or choose it as a DC because I don't think it ever has a chance of winning unfortunately 🙄

Ninaofthe90s

also I'm throwing Silver Linings Playbook back in the mix. Mainly because Robert De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence. And the main character in the movie, played by Bradley Cooper is bipolar which would be nice to see your reaction to it, since you're watching a bipolar character on Ozark. And it might give you more of an insight, besides Ben.

Train To Busan (2016)

Chronicle. Description is: "Three high-school teens record themselves in the wake of gaining super-human telekinetic powers from a mysterious rock." Its like a male version of that older witch movie "The Craft" from the 90s. The trailer spoils a bit of the movie, but if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD0DshFbmxA Mr Brooks with Kevin Costner is my second suggestion. Its like a "Dexter" movie. (They are restarting Dexter this month btw)

Bone Tomahawk (Kurt Russell) Blade Runner (1982 - The Final Cut version, Harrison Ford) Patriot Games (1992 - Jack Ryan series, Harrison Ford) Clear and Present Danger (1995 - Jack Ryan series, Harrison Ford) Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010 - Alan Tudyk) The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007)

Unbeheld

Here's my selection: *The Abyss* - 1989 Director's Cut. Arguably the most underrated film James Cameron has made. The technical skills needed to shoot this movie back in 89 was insane. Not to mention the studio wanted to pull the plug on what they thought was a disaster waiting to happen. After watching this movie, there's a great behind the scenes on how they made this film that's also worth the watch. That aside, this is a great movie on its own. Led by Ed Harris and a fantastic supporting cast, it's truly an original and gripping story about the deep sea. *The Outlaws* 2017 - A really popular gangster movie that came out in KR. It's based on real events that happened between 2 rival korean gangster outfit going to war. Led by Don Lee (the big dude from Train to Busan and Gilgamesh in the upcoming Eternals movie). The story starts small and it escalates into a full blown war between native korean gangs and the chinese/kr outfits. Excellent villain, great cast, just entertaining as fk. *Election* -1999 Call it a spiritual successor to Ferris Bueller's day off. Starring Reese Wheatherspoon, and Matthew Broderick. It's dark comedy at its finest. *Contact* -1997 Sci fi starring Jodie Foster, Matthew Mcconaughey, Interstellar before Interstellar. *New World*-2013 Yep, still going to be plugging this movie. The best gangster movie KR has made. It's got an ensemble cast, an adaptation of a popular CN movie, it's Korea's version of The Departed. *Rounders* Matt Damon, Edward Norton, John Turturro, poker, and even my childhood crush is in a cameo the hot Famke Janssen. If you like poker, this is a must watch. *Source Code* Jake Gyllenhall is leading this really interesting sci fi, I've yet to see a bad movie from this guy. *The Grandmaster* You saw "practical" fighting in the Raid, then you saw unrealistic wire fu from Crouching Tiger hidden Dragon. This is a hybrid of both. It's still beautiful Wire-Fu, but the martial arts depicted are actual martial arts from real life. The actor trained all year long to do the stunt work justice. Led by Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi, it's perhaps the most beautifully shot martial arts movie ever. If you do watch it, make sure you get the Chinese Edit (the longest version at 130 min). It's not just a matter of cutting stuff in the other version, they actually flipped some scenes around, it's a mess. *Avatar* - Don't listen to the haters about how it's not an original story from a bunch of hypocrites. Everything in Hollywood is a remake/reboot of something. The themes are familiar but it's still a great movie, despite some cringy writing at times. Why? Because nobody on Earth can shoot an action movie like James mother@# Cameron. Also if this dude spends 200M, the movie feels like a 200M movie, some thing a lot of directors could learn from. It's not going to win an oscar any time soon, but it's fun and considering there's 3 more on the way, might as well see what the fuss is all about. Copying my recs and deleting the ones you watch, sooner or later it'll all be removed hopefully.

“Hell or High Water” and also “wind river”. Both are from the writer/director or Sicario and are great.

Michael

Contact & The Abyss, yes! Election and New World, also yes. The rest are all fine suggestions too but emphasis these 4 from me=) I would add Avatar if Jimmy had a 3D tv! I feel it was more than a gimmick, the picture box look of it was something special...not tricks like throwing something at the audience but actual thought out cinematography utilizing 3D. I wish I could see that at home cheaper, I still cherish that theater experience, even when I poke fun at the film's occasional missteps.

HermitM

They Live (1988) - A John Carpenter film that stars Roddy Piper and Keith David.

Aiden Howatson

Hell or High Water, End of Watch, Starred Up

Drew

Both are amazing, wind river is my favorite.

Stefanniko

Grand Budapest hotel! Creative and fun comedy. And Mandy (Nic cage and Ecbert from Vikings) very surreal insane film lol

Romancing the Stone

Robert Kruger

Hardcore Harry - Action Sci-Fi, almost a video game. The Crying Game - Awesome Mobster style movie about the Irish Republican Army vs. the British government. Deliverance - A story of men traveling down rapids of a river that will cease to be after the new dam floods the area. Things don't go as planned. Super 8 - Sci fi very much like Stranger Things, in fact probably inspired it. Dolores Claiborne - Another Stephen King movie starring Cathy Bates and it's damn good. Not Misery caliber, but up there.

Robert Kruger

Yes to Tucker & Dale and The King of Kong. Blade Runner's good, but not for reactions IMO. Not a big fan of the Jack Ryan stuff. Haven't seen Bone Tomahawk.

Robert Kruger

If he hasn't seen The Green Mile, that's an automatic for me. Best movie on anyone's list responding so far and that includes me.

The 2012 Hunt is a GREAT movie. I'd prefer the crazy action Hunt, because it's hilarious, but both would be best.

Ben Trotter

Gone Girl. I can’t say anything about it without unintentionally giving away some plot point, but it’s a David Fincher movie and it’s amazing.

Bone Tomahawk, Black Hawk Down, Beowulf
