Can't believe you didn't mention or notice the cinematography. One of the greatest achievements ever. Especially the rain sequence. Combined with Thomas Newman's score. God damn masterpiece.

Idk if I accidentally cut it but I thought we talked about our favorite shots at length at the end.

Nerd Going Outside

Glad you liked this one! Everything between Michael showing up in the church to him walking away in the rain after killing John Rooney blows me away every time. "There are only murderers in this room" "None of us will see heaven" "I'm glad it's you." Brilliant. RIP Paul Newman.

I love how they tried to make Jude Law look fucking ugly in this movie. He's known to be exceptionally good looking and up until ths point he always played guys that look extremely handsome. I guess he did not want to get type cast. He was scary in this movie and really proved that he can play ugly. Loved his performance. "I shoot the dead!" - That was such a great scene.

If Michael would have shot Maguire in the end it would've ruined everything. Mike tried so hard to keep his son away from all of that. He died knowing that his son will not become like him and the cycle of violence ends with him. Otherwise It would've ruined the ending for me.

I actually LOVED the scene where Connor dies. Because the whole thing was one shot and it was so easy for Mike to kill him since he had no protection. He just walked right in and shot him. No words needed, no long monologue. No rage. Just walk in, shoot and leave. It was great, The climax already happened before that in my opinion, when he killed his substitute father. That was so dramatic and sad. I love how you could only hear the rain throughout the entire scene and no gun fire. except for the end when he shot Rooney you could hear all of it. Makes it so much more impactful. And since he fired so many times it makes it look like Mike is letting out a scream of sadness and rage in that moment. This is a father and son movie through and through. Not just Mike and his son Michael, also Mr. Rooney and Connor and of course Mr Rooney and Mike.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Wow, I hadn't seen this in a very long time. When the mother IMMEDIATELY shields the younger son and turns her body away from the masked assassin... god damn, that moment really gets to me... even just thinking about it now. It didn't hit me as hard this time, I guess cause I'm older and more jaded (and knew it was coming,) but I do distinctly recall both loving and hating the "There are only murderers in this room." line, many years ago. It really bothered me - and intrigued me - how "right" Mr. Rooney was. Finally, the "Could I have had more?", "You'll never know." conversation was just brilliant.

Hey Jimmy I've been trying to watch your Scott Pilgrim reaction for the last 3 days but it's not working... says "unable to process video" in google drive. Your other videos are working for me. Is that something you can fix?

JimmyMacram

Oh shit. Just saw this. I just looked at it and it's fine on this end. If it's still wonky, let me know and I'll upload it differently.
