I don't think I've gone from hating a movie to loving a movie in an hour's time before lol

Til this day when I want someone to turn on the lights I say "Aziz, Light!" 😂 I don't know why, some lines just stick with you.

Gary Oldman is my favorite actor in the whole world 😍 he was awesome in both Luc Besson movies. This one and Léon: The Professional.

I just wish you wouldn't have talked so much during the first 20 minutes. Cash in particular. 🙄😤 I couldn't understand any dialogue from this movie. I mean...of course you don't know what's going on if you don't pay any attention. Also there's a lot of exposition in the first 15 minutes. This is a cult classic, and there is a reason for it. You just have to be patient sometimes. 👍👍

Seems like everyone either LOVES Chris Tucker in this movie or HATES him. I think he's hilarious. Glad you guys enjoyed him too

Wateesh

are you telling me that's not the normal way to ask that?

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Personally, I think the "Give me the cash!" guy is the obvious mvp of this one

Ian Holm - the actor you didn't recognize, he played the priest Cornelius. You know him as Ash from Ridley Scott's "Alien" and of course as Bilbo Baggins from "The Lord of the rings" trilogy. He died last year.

I was worried that this film may have been too much for you and Cash Jimmy, but I'm glad that it won you over by the half way mark and loved it by the end. The Fifth Element is a unusual film, it's a big Science Fiction action flick but with the art house avant-garde style of French Cinema blended together by Luc Besson. High concept, action packed, unconventional filmmaking with Hollywood budgets are Besson's signature. That and mysterious female protagonists with tragic backstories with extraordinary abilities. I'm a sucker for Sci-Fi so this film was a favourite of mine back in the 90's. The futuristic setting, the weird and wacky aliens, the cool supernatural elements and the weapons, like the ZF-1, one of the best weapons in film history. The cast is very solid too, Bruce Willis as Korben Dallas is a great everyman hero, with the trademark Willis one liners and charm. Gary Oldman's over the top performance as villainous southern billionaire Zorg is underrated. Ian Holm as Cornelius is endearing, Tiny Lister as the President is against type but pulls it off very well. Milla Jovovich was pretty much a unknown actress at this time but her performance as Leeloo shot her to stardom. Innocent, adorable, touching and tough as nails all together was splendid. Finally Chris Tucker as Ruby Rhod is a highlight for this film, flamboyant and effeminate who is a sex god apparently elevates the comedy here the way no one else could.

The film was very successful back in 1997, earning $263 million at the box office. It was France's most successful film until 2011 when the Intouchables surpassed it. The film was however very polarizing, people either loved it or hated it. The fact that it evokes strong emotions either way is a mark of success in my book. A true SF cult classic that is a feast of the eyes and not a bad story at all. Thanks guys and see you later, peace.
