Cadmus Lochlan

I learned my lesson this time. I slept and now ill watch this on my commute.

I still don't like how crixus fell back into the I in team mentality when they just defeated him working together. But the dramatics were on high this episode. Loved it.

Spartacus isn't even the MVP of the episode!? lmao 😂😂😂

Ninaofthe90s

you could call him Dominus instead of Batiatus 😂

BEHOLD, the Bringer of Rain! YES! For me the most interesting part about Crixus and Lucretia in this episode is that she clearly has strong feelings for him. She was willing to forego her chance for a child just to see him at his strongest so he'd live. But for Crixus, he instead cared to share his love with Naevia. All in all, the love triangle is quite complex, a bit more so that what you typically see in other dramas. And Batiatus, who could also be called Quintus or Dominus, is an absolute savage here. His wrath is nothing to be trifled with. I love the moment where he goes insane on beating the slave and ad-libs psychotic insults "hemorrhoid sucking FUCK!" Some great acting from John Hannah, would never have thought that from the guy who played Jonathon in The Mummy. Spartacus finally grows as a character, willing to set aside his differences with Crixus so that they both see victory. And Crixus too gets development, realizing that Spartacus has a point, he has something to live for beyond glory, just like Crixus now does for Naevia. Fantastic episode all around. At this point, the footing of the series is well grounded and is a great ride to the end.

This episode is a doozy, full of intrigue, romance, action and a great finish. Batiatus is a ruthless bastard, killing Ovidius and his family is just one of the terrible things he does to climb that ladder to wealth and glory. Lucretia is hard done by being infertile and when given the chance to conceive a child, she gives it up for Crixus. She really does love him, as does Naevia, her and Crixus' romance is a strong motivator for him as the season moves along.

Crixus and Spartacus putting aside their differences and finding common ground with their purpose going beyond blood and glory with the women in their lives. It's good character growth and a step toward them being not at each others throats constantly. Doctore's lessons on fighting Theokoles is a highlight, this is a man who radiates gravitas and hard won respect. The Primus fight is a classic for the series, seeing the Undefeated Gaul and the death defying Thracian work together to best the Shadow of Death.

Crixus is horribly wounded during the battle, guts poking out and all but he manages to help get the W by blinding the Albino giant long enough for Spartacus to cut him down and take his head off. The Slayer of the Shadow of Death brings the drought to an end and the rains returns, everybody wins except Solonius. The Bringer of Rain as he will be known's legend starts here, and it's quite a journey.

Great reaction Jimmy, I knew this would be your favourite episode so far. Looking forward to the rest of the season, take care and peace.

Great reaction as always Jimmy! And the show only gets better. Don't sleep on Batiatus the man with the plans
