I know you've reacted to In Bruges so I'd like to recommend another dark comedy titled Seven Psychopaths. It's by the same director/writer and is also starring Colin Farrell. It's my favourite film 😄

Tommen from GoT jumped out that window and hit the pavement so hard you didn't recognize little brother Blake. 🤣 I thought the same about the one shot effect being a gimmick and then the movie proved me wrong. You summed it up perfectly that it builds suspense even when nothing is happening. Glad you enjoyed the movie. Cheers!

Seeing this movie on a Dolby Cinema screen in the theater was one of the best movie-going experiences I've ever had. I wasn't sure about the hype of the movie going into it, but I was blown away.

Jimmy has reacted to Band of Brothers. Should be up on his YT playlists in the top ten or so. He's also done the Pacific and Generation Kill. Cheers.

I'd call this a masterpiece mostly because of Roger Deakins cinematography. He's one of the most talented people in the film industry. And he's the best cinematographer next to Emmanuel Lubezki (who shot Children of men, Gravity, The Revenant or Birdman). It's pure art. He's also responsible for Blade Runner 2049, the most beautiful looking movie ever in my opinion (he likes to work with director Denis Villeneuve - his other masterful work for Sicario and Prisoners). He also shot The shawshank redemption, the assassination of jesse james, no country for old men, skyfall (also by Sam Mendes, director of 1917), fargo and many others. He's one of my favorite people in the film industry and one of the most talented. And it was mind blowing to see this in the theater. It just works for this movie. The cinematography builds so much suspense. And even if it would've been only a gimmick...it's still Roger Deakins. 😂😂 I have to see everything he does. These two badasses...especially Blake. His death shocked me so much. I didn't expect it halfway through the movie. I cried like hell. I was bit sad your friend called him stupid or scared. Schofield was the far more scared one up until this point. Blake saved him from being buried and walked upfront most of the time and lead the way. And he didn't even hesitate to go and save his brother. He also gave Schofield the courage to finish the mission alone, even though he was acared as hell up until then. Him having compassion at the end made him even more of a badass. After everything they have seen of course they would let this man burn alive. They may be at war but they haven't lost their humanity. Of course Roger Deakins won the academy award for cinematography. Also it won for best sound mixing and visual effects. Which I liked very much. The movie doesn't have a lot of them - but they did use them very effectively. It didn't win best picture or director (those went to Parasite)

you didn't recognize King Tommen of the house Baratheon, first of his name 😂😂

Don't know if you remember Jimmy, but in Peaky Blinders Tommy brings up how after they would retreat, they would leave traps in their trenches. It's kinda cool to actually see what he was talking about.

that was tense. you got to love how inaccurate old guns used to be. the movie could've ended so many times otherwise.

Just watched it, greaat movie. My man was so right about the part in the video game that you have to keep redoing - and just like in the movie, you end up just sprinting through everyone

I’d have to strongly disagree that war films should not be sympathetic, i feel what makes this film stand out as a war film is how sympathetic it makes it’s characters and the soft moments you see between characters. I love how much it humanises the characters

Robert Kruger

Funniest line Marcus has ever uttered, "cuz this movie's in color."

Full Metal Jacket's 1st half is better than 1917. The 2nd half is worse, a LOT worse.
