There's undeniably a nostalgic attachment I've got with this game, having binged it alongside Tony Hawk's Underground on my PS2 as a kid, but playing SSX 3 today, it stunned me just how damn good the game still is.

Not just from a gameplay perspective, which it is; tricks are satisfying to pull, speed's intense, and the courses, both for Races and Freestyle events are nuts.

What really stands out is the outstanding presentation is.

It's one thing to have a great selection of songs, it's a whole other thing to have them all be intergrated with a bespoke collection of samples, stems, and drops so that your grinds, fights, and leaps are synced up to something, it's DOOM '16 levels of awesome.

This detail extends to so many areas, from each character having their own unique loading screens, unlocks, and voice-lines, to having them interact during races, and featured artists dropping lines on Radio Big.

It's a game with life, and especially upscaled on Xbox, is as engaging today as it ever was.
