Last night I scanned through Sony's livestream, showcasing dozens of games on their new console. The Playstation 5 does look powerful, polished, and packed with content from day one, but I couldn't help notice the game's which interested me most didn't seem all that connected to the console's horsepower.

Deathloop by Arkane Studios was easily my favorite trailer of the show. Reservation is held just in-case my enjoyment stemmed from the superb editing and transitions rather than the gameplay itself, but even that's sold as a mixture of Prey & Dishonored expanded to make satisfying combat.

Returnal also caught my interest with funny enough, a similar starting premise. Perhaps I just need to rewatch Source Code and get Groundhog Day out of my system... Rest of the show featured charming indie projects, and installments for Gran Turismo, Spiderman, Ratchet & Clank, and Horizon. All of which are cool, but exactly what I expected.

To be honest though, maybe I just don't relate to console gaming anymore. Perhaps booting up system, TV, and capture software is perceived by my brain as tedious after getting used to hitting a record command on my keyboard. Perhaps 144hz on Mouse & Keyboard has conditioned me into not playing competitive shooters on gamepad. Or maybe I just have too many games and can't fuel excitement for something I won't touch in a year anyways.

It's probably that last reason.

Interestingly, it's because of the PS4 & Xbox One that I'm not going into these new consoles with much cynicism despite not caring for either. Back in 2013, even big market publishers like EA thought they were going to sell poorly due to the increasing mobile market, and the market responded by producing Sony's most popular hardware since the PS2.

There's lots of people who enjoy coming back home from a hard day at work, kicking back on the couch, and web sling their way through a virtual Manhattan.

For me the livestream only showed that 90% of the games started production for ps4 and still have the goal to get released there. I hope thats the reason why most of the games couldn't get me hyped by the visuals.
