Run the Jewels 2 holds up as one of the best albums out there. It's one that consistently floors most I show it to, whether they're into hip-hop or not. While RTJ4 doesn't quite reach the highs of that album, at least on a first listen, it packs a mean punch. Especially the opening and ending.

It's as much a banger as it is politically charged, with countless listeners believing lyrics were written in the last week, when they actually were completed last year.

El-P's production continues to be as phenomenal as the record's pacing. There's multiple new favorites here for me. Yankee and the Brave. Goonies vs E.T, JU$T, etc. And I'm sure most who enjoyed RTJ's previous work will find their own favorite songs in this release.

Surely they wrote the "I can't breathe" line in the week before release though. That's toooo specific to be an old lyric. That whole verse sounds added in post to me. I've listened to the album at least 20 times through since release. Hard to pick a favourite

I believe there was another case last year where those where the final words of someone before a cop killed them.

reddit introduced me to them with RTJ 3 a year or two ago (can't remember exactly), and I quickly became a fan.
