There's a gap in the Military shooter market. The most obviously popular brand is Call of Duty. Fast paced, chaotic, action-packed gameplay that offers a wide variety of modes built on its high-speed foundation. Then there's alternatives like Counter Strike and Rainbow Six Siege that feature similarly fast-paced gunfights, but slower strategy and more deliberate movement. Going beyond that, you find yourself with more hardcore titles like Rising Storm 2, Squad, and even the Arma series.

That's a bit of a leap, and Insurgency brand is the stepping stone between.

Sandstorm's no different with a spectacular amount of detail in its weapons, sound-effects, and they're relation to the environment. Deaths are quick just like your more hardcore tactical shooters, but taking place on smaller but more tense levels, where an enemy can be lurking around any corner.

If you're tired of the mainstream heavy hitters but don't wanna get shouted at by Milsim masters, Insurgency Sandstorm is one of the best options you've got.

Sandstorm does need to get out there more. It has a small but loyal playerbase, mostly carried over from Insurgency 2 (the standalone) but it just seems to go below the radar. Hardcore Coop is incredible with a tight team and I can actually apply real world tactics to it and they work perfectly. Best part is the reload mechanic though

This is what battlefield 3 did so well, it was a balance between the fast paced style of COD and the slow methodical style of arma. My favorite military game of all time
