I should do more storage like that. My only suggestion would be to put rubber feet on the bottom of the two vertical pieces. That way it will be less likely to slide off the edge of the bench it's sitting on.

I've pretty much stopped repurposing particle board simply because I haven't found a way to make it stand up to even light use. One thing that helped a little was to put wood glue in the pilot holes and work it to the bottom with a toothpick before adding the screws. But the pull-outs still happened eventually, just pulling a larger plug of wood with them. Actually, I do have a 5-sided cube that I added flat corner braces to that's still holding together, but I only use it as a trash can (no load).

Ok ..never seen that pocket joint trick. Gotta say I like it. And easy enough to print some plastic blanking plugs too. But I love the edict waste not want not. Good job Fran! Thanks for sharing
