Sector's Edge was our first idea for a game and we naively dived straight in and committed 6 years to it. It's often said that your first game will always fail because you will try to create your dream game, and your dream games are rarely simple.

It's likely that Sector's Edge will one day become a hit, but it will take many more years that we aren't prepared to commit to. We're not burned out - quite the opposite - but it's time we spent our time and energy more intelligently.

Our new strategy is to test the waters before diving in. We've been looking at a lot of other indie games, as well as Chris Zukowski's talks on howtomarketagame.com and discovered that there are genres that are inherently easier to create games for, and are also easier to market. We also discovered a lot of marketing mistakes we made, and - paired with the lessons we've learned making Sector's Edge - we believe we can do much better the 2nd time round.

We have ideas for roguelikes, survival games, strategy games and bullet hells that we would love to explore. We will create fun, simple demos and see what bites.

I look forward to seeing what other projects you work on!!! Does this mean you’ll be creating a new discord/shifting around the current one since rn its all about SE?

The SE Discord will change to read only on 17th December. I'd like to change to something more public - one of our lessons is spending too much time inside Discord and not sharing enough on social media / public-facing platforms
