I truly believe that in order to be an author, you have to enjoy learning. For example, so far today I've learned about spider book lungs, the kinds of berries that grow wild in the spring, and that while goats have excellent vision, that of ducks is actually better.

I can't count how many times I've had to stop writing in order to look something up, and then double-check my facts, since the internet, as we know, is a rather dangerous and misleading place. I think if I was an author in the 'good old days', I would have had to write by hand while working in a library, since I doubt they approved of the clack of typewriters.

So, if you catch me putting in something incorrect, please let me know! I certainly try to make even the silly little facts accurate as much as I can. (Though I do sometimes bend things a smidge with video game logic - insectivorous bats, for example, don't also eat fruit, but a Silus gobbling peas and moths is too cute to pass up.)
