It's a map depicting the most prominent Native American language groups on the eve of westward American expansion, circa 1800. Since the borders of tribes themselves are hard to trace, we decided instead to do a map showcasing the approximate reach of major Linguistic groups, with the names of famous tribes color-coded by their primary language.

We also included four colonial cities for context, British Quebec City, American New York and Boston, and Spanish Saint Augustine. I really had a blast working on this, and learned a great deal from it!

Yay! Someone actually cares about Indigenous languages; Happy 2019! Also, slightly unrelated, I keep forgetting that Na-Dene languages are mostly spoken around modern-day Canada and Alaska, even though Navajo/Dené bizaad is spoken in the south-western end of the US.
