Deja Vu or a classic Hollywood reboot? You decide ~~~

Jokes aside, I was really excited when Suibhne (another wonderful history channel) approached me for the possibility of collaborating on Italian History way back in April, and I took the opportunity to refresh, consolidate, and just generally update my history of the Venetian Republic into one, shiny, comprehensive package (because four videos was just excessive (he says, completely oblivious to the fact that he split Augustus into three videos earlier this very year)).

SO that's exactly what I did, and then surprise, Griffin the Armchair Historian and I came up with a plan to get a bunch of channels together in some big crazy mega-collaboration, and I (in equal parts brilliance and supreme laziness) suggested everyone take a topic in naval history, so that I could kill two collaborations with one video. 17 channels and three months later, here we are!

This has been really exciting for me to put together along with Griffin and Suibhne and the many many others, so whether you watch the whole playlist or just my video, I hope that you enjoy :)

Yay new video!

Philip Kruse

First: WOOP WOOP, NEW VIDEO! Second: God I love it when Blue really gets more hyped over a subject than he normally does (Venice and the Byzantines to name a few). It is grade A entertainment and just puts a smile on my face :)

I'm glad you enjoy it! That enthusiasm has been labeled blind bias in the recent past in the cases of Portugal and the Ottomans, but I definitely prefer to strike a more excited tone. It just feels better to watch than someone going on a rant. Obviously if I were spending an hour on it instead of a dozen or so minutes there's more room to have both, but I've found that in a limited space the best option is enthusiasm -B

Dude I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I was to pull up YouTube this morning and find those! I’ve been listening to the Venice series on repeat for the last two weeks because I love them so much!!! I love the history and I love love love Blue’s passion in this. It’s fun and it inspires me to nerd out myself and learn more about Venice and European history. I’ve even started Roger Crowley’s 1453 after watching the Ottoman Empire video again recently. I just wanted to say thanks y’all, you guys making learning so fun!
