I always got the sense that Rust thought the world of Maggie. Enough to open up to her and Rust doesn't open up to anyone. So when she used him to get back at Marty, he felt betrayed. Not to mention self-loathing at his own betrayal of Marty. Which explains how angry he is when she tells him the truth.

In Ep 5 when Rust is talking about 4th dimensional beings, what he is talking about is essentially, if you were to try and describe to a stick figure on a piece of paper what a sphere is. Its hard to percieve things outside our dimensions that we know (length, width height). If a fourth dimensional person were to explain what the 4th dimension (time) looks like to them, then time would just look like, "A flat circle" to us, just like a 2-D picture can only see a slice of the 3-D sphere at a time.

Yeah there also was a lot of sexual tension between them and she ended up just exploiting that and using him to get back at Marty. Everyone's crappy to each other!
