Emotional Damage 😬

Norrin Radd

One of my favorite love stories of all time! Shows the dark side of relationships and how to cope with it.

I still can't believe Jim Carrey wasn't nominated for an Oscar for this performance. One scene in particular, when Clementine says they can't stop it and what should they do - Joel's reply, "Enjoy it," just guts me every time.

I'm so excited you watched this! One of my all time favorites!

Such a great movie, though heartbreaking at times.

Brilliant film (it always breaks my heart watching it, so I rarely do) and great reaction. More movies by Michel Gondry includes "Be Kind Rewind" and "The Science of Sleep". Both beautiful films, although the latter is perhaps a bit too indie for a reaction, but definitely worth seeing 'offline'. Thank you for the post. Wishing you and anyone reading this a lovely week. <3

I actually synched this one to hers. Tried that out, so know the reactions. Yea, a vary unique but good movie. And it kind of brought up some deep questions after. One was, would you stay together in fear of what may become, after knowing who you were? Thus walking on eggshells a bit around each other. Of course that would not be good. Also how each second, or each saying we say, and how it has such a strong butterfly effect. And if we could change the outcomes of only 3 moments in life. You could change your entire life literally. In basic they kind of got that second shot, without a time machine, or changing time. But the same thoughts still popped in my head. Truman Show! After ET lol. I forgot how unique that movie was to. The Truman thing makes you wonder to, if they could? I also forgot Kristen was in this movie. Had a thing with her as Mary Jane in Spider-Man. The slight auburn hair etc. But not in anything else.

Pretty quiet in here - I think they’re all still in The Last Jedi comments! I just watched the full reaction. I have not seen this movie since its theatrical release 18 years ago. I enjoyed it then, but it probably resonates much more now. I watched it with my girlfriend at the time, my first love, my first serious relationship, my “first”. As I think back to that time, I remember some of the deeply hurtful things I said to her towards the end of our relationship, and made her cry. I will always regret that. But I also remember some very happy times too, and I would never want to forget that, even though I have to remember the pain too. I guess that’s one of the main points of the movie; that erasing painful memories removes the potential to learn from our mistakes and stop repeating them. It’s an experiment in denial that the pain ever existed but it robs us of our emotional growth and forces us backwards. Thought-provoking indeed and about time I re-watched it. Thanks for watching this one, Cassie.

Put “Being John Malkovich” on your radar! Same screenwriter. Charlie Kaufman… . And another totally original premise done so very well.

Agreed! Great movie, unique idea.
