This was a great movie to start the month of love with! Now I need to learn how to dance haha. Hope you enjoy!

This is my guilty pleasure favorite movie. The acting, setting, music, dancing. It's all perfect.

JohnnyUtah

I love this movie, don't care who knows it either. Probably been said, but originally Jennifer Grey didn't want Patrick Swayze to be in the film. I think it had something to do with Red Dawn tension, she was very young during that film and impressionable. Also Swayze wrote she's like the wind. They needed a song for the movie to nail it as one of the best soundtracks ever and I think they did just that.

Barry Hammock

Since it's one of my wife's all time favorite movies, I won't tell her it's old 😁

Stephen Aech

Well I have no doubt that you loved this one. But, HOW HAVE YOU NEVER SEEN IT UNTIL NOW??? 😂

Yann Laliberté

Such a good timing. I have been wanting to re watch it and I know you gonna love it

Todzilla

I'm gonna let Cassie slide because it's a "classic" and it's pretty close to Valentine's day so she deserves a chic flick. But we need to get her back to Predator 2 or some Robocop soon 😘

Joe Aschenbrener

I know that you like Nathan Fillion as Mal in Firefly you may want to see him in a supporting role as a boyfriend in an "old" film "Blast From the Past " with Brendan Fraser and Alicia Silverstone

Mr Jordan

Well, this one is going to be amazing. Probably the most Cassiesque movie ending ever.

Aaron

My dad is NOT a dancer (unless he's goofing off with his grandkids lol) and he loves this movie!

Joe Aschenbrener

Jennifer Grey is still good looking at about age 61. She also had a great role as the sister in "Ferris Bueller's" Day off.

Mike Lipke

they also teamed up in Red Dawn

Ike

I have to watch this reaction with headphones or I might start a hoedown here in the house. Haha. It is a Worldwide Ladies’ Favorite Movie.

Andrew Ramos

Roadhouse and Red Dawn are the next Patrick Swayze movies that Cassie needs to react to...I don't know if I have ever sat and watched Dirty Dancing all the way through...I guess I'm doing this

David RedEagle

WOLVERINES! Also its surprising you never watched this. Glad you enjoyed it.

Katie Jackson

Patrick Swayze was a professional dancer and was the only person considered to play Johnny

Mr. Rodgers

I mean, she has to watch the sequel “Roadhouse,” right? 😉

Katie Jackson

Jennifer Grey(Baby) actually won her season on Dancing With The Stars

Robert da Spruce

Downloading now…I honestly haven’t watched this since before the year 2000. I guess I better break out my dancing shoes!

Goony71

I bet she ends up loving this movie, can’t wait to see the reaction.

Dioskur

How didn't you see this, chick-flick-happy-ending-girl? :) Even between me and my friends (of male gender) "i was carrying a watermelon" was a line we used to express we felt useless in a stupid way! It is one of the very few girl movies you are allowed to like as a man, just because it is so widely know that you just couldn't dodge it. Will watch this after work. Maybe I even buy a watermelon for the occasion....

Jeff Finley

Fun facts: This hotel is still running today, but the lake has dried up. Jennifer and Patrick didn't get along from a previous movie they did together, they went into a room to hash it out talk cry, etc and came out great friends. The writer wrote this about her times when she was younger, not the romance but the dirty dancing. The song She's like the wind was written and Sung by Patrick Swayze

Shawn Kildal

Saw this at the theater. Needless to say my girlfriend and I were overwhelmingly compelled to hit the dance floor immediately afterwards. That was THE movie to take your date to for sure. I think the soundtrack spent close to 20 weeks at the top of the charts. Thanks for bringing back such great memories Cassie! It's never too late to take dancing lessons!

Wes Stewart

Baby’s journey from demure girl to confident woman is actually an allegory for the United States after World War II, as Baby takes ownership of her potential she achieves confidence, maturity and purpose much like the US did as the Cold War began…… only joking.

Andrew Ramos

The steering wheels were so big because they didn't have power steering back in the day so the bigger wheel provided more leverage to turn. Now a days you could turn with a donut

Jeff Finley

Patrick Swayze learned to dance first by his mom who had a Dance school in Texas

Katie Jackson

The first time I saw this movie was when I was Seven years old. It has been a favorite ever since. This reaction made me so happy! I had a huge smile the whole time! I knew you'd love it and watching you fall in love with it was great.

Katie Jackson

Cassie you gotta watch The Outsiders and Ghost. Both are great movies. The Outsiders is a coming of age story set in the 50's and Ghost is an amazing love story

Rose

I remembered the spat she had w/Derek during practice. He reminded her so much of Patrick that it triggered an emotional breakdown. They really earned that title, though. Totally gifted in both acting & dancing.

Tim H

If you liked this movie check out “The Movies That Made Us” on Netflix. There is an episode about Dirty Dancing and quite frankly it’s a MIRACLE this movie ever got made. Super interesting backstory.

Rose

Patrick Swayze was a pro and hated doing several retakes, so the scene of the ticklish Baby was not scripted. That was Swayze showing real frustration at Grey. Though their chemistry was undeniable, they also had a complicated working relationship. "I Am Patrick Swayze" is a really good documentary. Highly recommend. Also Grey is returning as Baby/executive producer for the sequel. She reassured that the sequel will take a different approach bc ofc Swayze is irreplaceable.

Andrew Ramos

Upon final review I realize I never really watched the movie, but I remember certain scenes because after watching Roadhouse I watched a documentary about Patrick Swayze (a video on YouTube I think?) and don't quote me but apparently this movie destroyed his feet or knee and the multiple takes of him jumping off the stage were brutal because something was messed up by that point.

Robert da Spruce

Great reaction Cassie! I forgot how good that movie is! Seeing how much you enjoyed the movie really put a smile on my face! I think it’s a foregone conclusion that you forced your husband to do the “lift” with you after you watched the movie! 😂 Also, don’t think you can drop a little tidbit like “I did clog dancing for four years” without anyone bringing it up. I think we need a demonstration! 😉 Seriously though, I had a fun time watching that one! Great job!

Andrew Ramos

Probably because the degrees of separation, i.e. time, were much further for her than it was for you....

G

Dirty Dancing, a romantic drama, and the two pillowcase picks, The Cutting Edge and Can't Buy Me Love, are romantic comedies. Cassie will really love the month of February. I personally like Can't Buy Me Love. It has a good story and I'm a huge Beatles fan.

Raven Dark

She has. I suggested it and she told me she saw it. *Sobs* I would have loved to see her react to that one. This one makes up for it though! Can't wait to dive in!

Raven Dark

About to dive into this one (can't wait!!) but first, I second the recs for Cutting Edge and Can't Buy Me Love. Both great movies that I think you would love and Cutting Edge is one of my faves.

Katie Jackson

The way she reacted to Patrick Swayze I would have sworn she'd never seen him in anything

G

I love her in With Honors (1994).

Andrew Rose

I have my mystical magical crystal ball out and I am seeing something... dance classes in Ben's future... lol

Art of Free Speech

I want to write this as I'm watching so I don't forget--Cassie, when you said "they're showing off a little bit there," I really disagree. When I was a teenager on into my early 20s, I was lucky enough to be one of the better dancers in any crowd (my mom taught dance, and I was an eager student), and I would just let loose and do my thing, not to show off, but because it was so much fun to dance, and twice as much fun to do it well. I think, for them in the movie, they're just having fun but because they're so good, it LOOKS like showing off. We kind of know they're not because in that crowd, there's nobody to show off TO! They all know each other. Also, allow me to be a third in recommending Can't Buy Me Love--it's such an 80s classic, and I had the chance to run into Amanda Peterson (RIP) when I was stationed at Fort Carson back in the early 90s (she's from Greeley, CO), and she really was a sweetheart, though she struggled with drug addiction.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Easily one of my top 5 soundtracks (both volumes!) So good. Castle: *walks in dramatically, comes over to Baby's table* Castle: "Nobody puts Baby in the corner." Cassie: *surprised Pikachu face* The fact that you knew the line ahead of time and we STILL got that reaction is surely a testament to the movie's immersiveness! That was a fun one :)

Andrew Ramos

One of the biggest take aways I had from this movie was just how creepy that camp actually was...And when Cassie asked if they really had camps like this it reminded me of an audio book on Audible, The Minuteman: The Forgotten Legacy of Nat Arno and the Fight Against Newark's Nazis, which took place in the 1930s. It talks about how at one point there was quite a few Nazi camps across the U.S. disguised as run of the mill summer camps. So I can only assume that summer camps were quite popular and ran the gamut from run of the mill sexist creepy to nazi wannabe creepy.

Future Boy

With Honors, such a great, heartwarming comedy. I wish more people knew about it. A great cast too. It also stars Joe Pesci, Brendan Fraser, and Patrick Dempsey (again!)

Eric Denney

Have to say that was probably my favorite reaction to date,. Knew you were going to love this one when it showed up on the calendar. I was 17 or 18 when it came out and all the teenage girls were swooning over Patrick Swayze and that final dance scene. Had a great soundtrack too.

G

Yup, Wth Honors has an excellent cast and an excellent story. I wonder if Cassie has seen it. It's not in her Letterboxd, but some of the films she has already seen are not in there.

Brian Harris

I have strong feelings about this movie. I think it is incredibly underrated not just as popcorn entertainment, but as a complex, nuanced historical record of a very fraught time in this country’s history. We’re three months from this country’s ultimate loss of innocence, the Kennedy assassination. The air is virtually humming with tension. In the next ten years, all across the country, children will be at war with their parents. Johnny’s class will be fighting and dying in a stupid war, while the Robbie Goulds of the world will be escaping the draft in Ivy League towers. Sexual taboos will explode. Baby Houseman will have her principles tested in a moral crucible, and no one will escape unscathed. Kellerman says it himself at the end. The change is coming. He doesn’t know what that means or how different the world will be when it’s over, but his instincts are right. And this movie very subtly foreshadows all of it. Another interesting note: it would be nice to believe that Johnny and Baby end up together … but even they know that isn’t going to happen. Never once in the film do they discuss a future together. The first time they part, before he comes back, it’s as loving friends who mean the world to each other but know that their lives are too different to bridge the gulf. The last dance is a parting gift. It’s their promise not to forget what they learned from each other. Viewed that way, the ending is bittersweet, but they are each walking away as better people, and that’s what some relationships are meant to do.

William Bryan

Never seen the movie. Can't do the romantic, rom/com stuff. However I do know enough to know you'd love this. My parents are crazy about it.

Andrew Hogan

Those are romantic films too.Predator 2 is a search for “the one”, while Robocop is about loving guns.

Chris Lüders

Hi Cassie, that was a very nice reaction and I like the movie too. It took me a long time too until I watched it because when it was released every girl talked about it and that was pretty anoying. 😂 But a few years later I thought 'why not?' and so I watched it and it is really a great movie. 💃🕺 As others already have pointed out, Patrick Swayze was a professional dancer and in my opinion better than John Travolta, but that's not to say Travolta is a bad dancer... just that Swayze was better. The soundtrack of the movie is great too, all these old songs, always the right song at the right time, mixed with some new (in 1987) songs and btw 'She's like the wind' was performed by Patrick Swayze himself. I really like the movie and it is so marvelous that you watched and liked it too. This was really the best start for the month. Unfortunately Patrick Swayze passed away much too young. But if you are interested in more productions with him as an actor, I can only recommend the movies: - Ghost (1990), with Demi Moore - Point Break (1991), with Keanu Reeves and of course the series - North and South (1985, 1986, [1994]), with half of Hollywood: 1st season with 6 episodes, 2nd season with 6 episodes and the 3rd season with 3 episodes. Many people don't like the third season, so I have it in square brackets, especially since you can end it after the 12th episode but I find it entertaining too. (season 1&2 were one of the most watched mini series back then here in Germany and I think also in the US 😉) The series is really great and not too long, so I think it really would be right for a review. Also there is a lot of love stories, drama, friendship, betrayal, adventure, history and everything you want. 😊 RIP Patrick Swayze

Jon Johns

I'd never seen this before. Always resisted it. I recognize it's value now, but I will never watch it again. Just not my cup of tea. That being said, I'll rewatch this reaction video many times, especially after watching something like "Rabbit Proof Fence" as a sort of pallette cleanser. Seeing the joy on her face is magical.

Richard Ryan

I don't usually roll two videos back to catch something I missed, but I rolled back and rewatched twice in this movie, just to see your reaction again. It's fun to enjoy these moments anew through you, Cassie. Thank you.

Robert da Spruce

Lol. I was just getting ready for work. Had the TV on in the background. And I just saw a “Dirty Dancing” Competition Show is debuting on Fox tonight! I have no idea if it’s stupid or low key genius. But the timing cannot be ignored! Not an endorsement. Just an FYI.

Hannah Mather

Well I was right when I thought this movie is NOT for me, but I did enjoy it more than I thought I would, at least. I'm glad that I can finally say I've seen it, so thanks for that!

Obie Brown

This movie is RIGHT up Cassie’s alley

Robert da Spruce

Oh, I forgot to add. I felt a little bad for you Cassie. Clearly whatever you were drinking was not to your liking. I saw you really wanted to get something else, but couldn’t because you already started recording. You held out from drinking anymore as long as you could, but eventually had to give into your thirst, making weird faces every time you took a sip! 😀 Next time, you may want to take a little sip before you hit that record button! 😉

Bryan Harris

THANK YOU CASSIE for watching this. My wife passed away 2 years ago yesterday and this was her favorite movie. Seeing the Joy and Happiness from you was like seeing her watch it EVERY TIME! Thank you for this...

Brian Harris

Who says it isn’t one? It isn’t enough that what they exchange lasts a lifetime, even if they don’t wake up next to each other? That’s just as beautiful to me.

Björn Von Knorring

I’m not a big fan of Romcoms but Can’t buy me love has a special place for me. I was i high school when I saw it and it has emotionally value to me. Don’t know how well it has stood the test of time though. Also RIP Amanda Peterson😔

Mike LL

Wow, one of the better movie recaps I've ever read. I'm buying into it!

Mike LL

Thanks again, Cassie. Like many others here, this is a movie I wouldn't have watched right now but for your watching it. I'm sure I haven't seen it for 30 years. But this is another case of watching a movie is made 100% better by watching it with your reaction. This movie indeed had everything, and in the conflict resolution at the end it gave you great feels like a great movie should. Thanks for the 100% extra! (posted by the poster who used to be named 2nd Opinion, but I had to get rid of that moniker, lol)

Robert da Spruce

Not sure. Whatever it was. I think it made onto Cassie’s “Do not drink ever again” list. 😀

Jay

That was so much fun, the look of giddy delight on your face for most of the film was priceless. Can we get a clog dancing demo during the next live-stream? 'Clogging with Cassie' has a nice ring to it:)

nick bell

The Outsiders seems like an obvious Cassie movie. Introduced the book and film to my teenage daughter. A few weeks later all her friends were Outsiders fanatics.

nick bell

Although I like the original shorter theatrical version and she loves the longer one.

Robert da Spruce

Sorry to hear about your wife Bryan. I’m glad this movie and Cassie’s reaction brought back such fond memories of her though. Best wishes.

DerekJ

I've yet to see the whole movie, yet it sits in my collection cause... Swayze. Better head out for some Safeway ice cream before watching along ☮️

Dirk Rheeder

Haven't seen this in ages. Very pleased to watch it again with Cassie, it makes rewatching movies fun! My recommendation for the month of love, my personal FAVOURITE romcom, and also an oldie. When Harry Met Sally

Cassie Tremblay

this is what i love about patreon comments, i love these tidbits! I Felt so unfamiliar with the hotels/dancing lessons/family getaway atmosphere. Crazy it was a real place

Cassie Tremblay

i honestly don’t know if i’ve seen ghost or just seen that one scene at the pottery wheel, i might just have to try it either way!

Cassie Tremblay

oh i’ve been loving watching those about some of the movies i’ve seen, i will check it out asap

Cassie Tremblay

hahaha Sometimes I forget that things like that are not gonna get edited out for Patreon ha ha. It was those liquid IV packs in water. Supposed to amplify your hydration or something it was bad

Cassie Tremblay

oh Bryan i’m so sorry about your loss, that must have been a really hard day for you. She must have had good taste in movies:) What were some of her other faves?

Todzilla

@Popcorn In Bed Cassie, you did surprise us by watching Predator as a Christmas movie!! (by the way, one of my all time favorite reactions). It would be so awesome if you watched Robocop for Valentines Day (week)!

Andrew Ramos

It was actually pretty great. The acting was great and there is something about truly expressing yourself that we all yearn for but hide because of our culture. Reminds me of the Bruce Lee book The Art of Expressing the Human Body. This movie has a thread of that running through it. Also I wouldn't go so far as to say Roadhouse is a chick flick it is more of an action movie with a love story as one of the central elements. Red Dawn is mostly action and war but Jennifer Grey is also in it!

Brian Berg

Can't wait for you to see: can't buy me love, so awesome you pulled it out of the cover

Daryl

I am so glad that you hadn't already seen this, so that we all got to watch it together. That ending is just so up lifting and makes me feel so happy. I adore the music in this film. I'm not much of a soundtrack collector. I have this one though. Although you'd not seen this, I'm assuming you have seen When Harry Met Sally though? That's another favourite of mine.

Damon Corrigan

There are some movies that I think are just right up your alley, and this is one of them Great reaction, as always, and a great movie pick. The steering wheel on his car was so large because many cars back that didn't have power steering, so you needed the extra leverage of a larger steering wheel. So many great songs in this soundtrack, and many have become iconic in their own right. Fantastic pick, and a great way to watch the movie. Thank you so much for putting yourself out there like this.

Art of Free Speech

Certainly right up there with my favorite reactions of hers as well. Of course, Cassie is great to watch reacting to any film, but when it's "her kind of film" it seems to push things to another level.

Pickadoren

With what kind of movies u really like its crazy that u have never seen this one. I bet its not the last time u will see it though. Great reaction as allways <3

RX2904

So I guess nobody else had trouble syncing their copy to this? Mine kept falling out of sync after a couple of seconds which is impossible unless both copies run at different speeds. Kept checking but speed was 1x on both. I can't figure it out.

Andrew Rose

oh absolutely!! idk how many views it would get but I'm betting each of your members would watch it at least a few times.. i know i would.

Tyler Foster

It's possible that Cassie accidentally got a copy of the movie running at PAL speed. The easiest thing to do for Cassie to fix it would be to just use the editing software (not exactly sure how but this should theoretically be easy) to slow the reaction video down 4.096%.

Tyler Foster

Reading the other comments and seeing that nobody else mentioned this, maybe YOU'RE the one with the PAL copy, in which case you need to slow your copy down by that percentage. (If you're watching it on DVD in another country than the United States, then you probably have a PAL copy.)

RX2904

That makes sense. I‘m almost sure I have a PAL copy. I‘ll look for a workaround. Thanks! I never would have thought of a PAL/NTSC issue.

Jeff Finley

If you liked this Romantic Swayze movie I suggest you watch GHOST

Michael Lynch

So glad you got to watch this. Knew you'd like this one. I swear for about 20 years every woman's favorite movie was either Grease or dirty dancing. And now you see why. Movies just used to be so much better and much more heartfelt. This movie cemented Patrick swayze into the heart of every woman.

Michael Lynch

Nobody puts popcorn in a corner.

Michael Lynch

Yes! I forgot that she's like the wind is a Patrick swayze song. Isn't that crazy popcorn? He was actually a singer too. Such an incredible talent he was.

Dave

Ladies and Gentlemen, it looks like we have our first nominee for the 2023 POPpies!

Richard Shepard

I have not seen this movie since my wife passed Oct 2010. This was one of her favorite movies and we used to watch this together each year but I have not been able to bring myself to see it as it makes me emotional just to think about it. When I saw that you were going to review it I just had to see it again, I loved watching your reactions to it, especially the dancing and the romance that it evokes. It made me remember Joelle so very much and had me super emotional many times but was worth it all as she was the most extraordinary person I have ever met and feel so blessed that I was able to spend 14 years married to her and we have identical twin girls from it. They are 22 as of Jan 3 this year and still live with me to help me with some of my health problems. My only regret that came to me was that I wish I would have taken the time to sign us up for dance lessons together and then have us dance the last song together. Might have had to have hit the weights to make sure we could pull the lift off but it would have been great to just dance to this with her as it was so special to her. We danced to many other things but I think that would have been a fantastic memory for her, never mind for myself. I have not considered subscribing to anyone but after watching so many reactions on YouTube that you did, and really love the reactions with Carly. You two have really brought back how much I loved movies and I look forward to all the future endeavors. Blessings and prayers for a prosperous and successful 2022. PS Lord of the Rings/Hobbit movies were also our favorites and e probably watched them 2 times a year, all of them. TTFN.

Michael Labs

Definitely a date movie; it was delightful to see Cassie's reaction to this one... I knew that there was definitely going to be happy squealing near the end.

Shawn Kildal

He also smoked around 60 cigarettes a day which wasn't good for him either.

Shawn Kildal

Even more "epic" of a dance scene is the SNL sketch with Swayze and Chris Farley in tryouts for Chippendales. It's a must watch on YouTube

G

@Björn Von Knorring I think its messages are still very relevant. Trying to fit in and bullying in school. They made a remake, Love Don't Cost a Thing (2003), starring Nick Cannon and Christina Milian. The acting was crap.

Sahitya

watched for the first time. Robbie and Babys sister are the strangest characters. Dude basically goes around making it known to anyone he meets how much of scumbag he is. She, one second is hating on her sister and the next second shes doting on her. Shes also got some serious daddy issues. they both deserve each other. Good movie. Not the greatest storyline but the cast and dance sequences make it work. RIP Patrick Swayze

Andrew Ramos

Yeah that got him in the long run, but he wasn't having any issues with that during the filming of this movie

William Bryan

My guess is Cassie doesn't drink at all. You haven't lived until you've been so drunk that your brother takes you to a gay bar in Midtown Atlanta and a drag queen kisses you on the cheek. 🤫🙊

Bryan Harris

Thank you Cassie... a couple more of her favorites were "Urban Cowboy" (our movie), "Love Actually", "Saturday Night Fever" and she LOVED the Madea comedies Thank you for asking

Krusty “Topher”

Or being drunk and thrown out of 3 different casinos!!! Apparently they frown upon Moonwalking in between Blackjack tables after hitting a 7 card run to 21!!!😀🤷‍♂️

JohnB

Loved your reaction on this one. Hard to believe you hadn't seen it before. Another good one for February if you going to watch Rom-Coms is "Return to Me".

Tyler Foster

One channel I subscribe to is definitely a case where the reactor is the one watching the bad copy, and unfortunately, the issue never gets fixed. I think maybe if you download the video and put it into VLC you can adjust it by an exact percentage (again, -4.096%) and it should fix it.

Carol_White

Yeah, great reaction, maybe the best ever. That's fine. Cassie can have her February of love. But for March I want her to watch the most twisted, repulsive shit Hollywood can provide. She wants us to push her out of her comfort zone, so let's do it.

Colin Gutierrez

I was so excited to find out you hadn't seen this one yet so I could watch it with you. Dirty Dancing has been one of my top 20 movies of all time since I first saw it in my teens, and is a big part of why I learned how to ballroom dance and eventually became a teacher. <3

Nathan Bishop

The lyrics for She's like the Wind certainly fits with this interpretation, since Patrick is singing about how she's out of his league. And yeah, I could tell that Cassie was waiting for Johnny and Baby to say that they love each other, but it never happened. They seem to both just acknowledge that they had the time of their life together. And Johnny helped Baby have the awakening that she needed to face the future ahead, which is implied by him calling her Frances at the end instead of Baby. And the "lift" is symbolic of her awakening.

Jeff Finley

That is great to hear. The show I saw on the making of Dirty Dancing showed it dried up and where they did the scene of the lift in the water. Jennifer Grey had to stand on a pile of stones cause the water was too deep for her to stand in. They showed the stones. 😆 nice that the lake is back again.

Nathan Bishop

And I agree that it's not necessarily a sad ending if they don't end up together. We already saw this theme with Johnny and Penny who weren't together romantically anymore, but they still cared for each other deeply.

Chadddyboy

Oh boy! She really just now watching this 💯💯💯💯💯

RX2904

Sounds exactly like what I experienced. Tyler Foster is right. It really was the PAL copy I had. 25 frames per second opposed to 29.77 or something. When I tried it with the NTSC copy it all worked fine and I enjoyed Cassie's reaction very much!

Gideon James

We thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks Cassie!

Mr Jordan

Yes, those two characters were strange. Mostly plot devices so damn any character development. I really liked Penny. That character doesn't get a lot of mentions, but the actress really portrayed her well. Tough, yet vulnerable, sad, joyful, scared and the way she had to navigate her feelings about Johnny and then his relationship with Baby I think was done really well.

Brooke Atkins

I live an hour and half from kellermans and that lake. Been there a few times after the movie came out. As far as I know the lake is still dry as a bone.

Brooke Atkins

Oh Cassie that is a movie you would absolutely love love love. I highly recommend putting it on your list and it couldn’t be more perfect than for February. The ultimate love story that stands the test of time. You will fal I love with Patrick all over again. All us girls did!! He was the it man of the lye 80’s early 90’s.

blue warrior

Blast from the past is a really great, fun movie. Highly recommend.

Erik Daniel

watched this last night and just finished the youtube edit. Watching you fall in love with the end dance scene was incredible. I knew you would love it but seeing you light up was magical. A few things about the song, (I've had) the time of my life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. Bill Medley was one half of the Righteous brothers along with Bobby Hatfield, who got started in the 60's and have many hits. Their music made its way into films through the years and because of that they had a resurgence in popularity. In your Top Gun reaction you would have heard "you've lost that loving feeling". That was recorded in '65 but was massive again when Top Gun was released. And the other was for another Patrick Swayze movie "Ghost". Now I know you know the rom com waters well, but by chance, because of its age, if you haven't seen Ghost...add it to the list. I'll let you discover the other Righteous Brothers song that shows up in that movie on your own. And once again, because of the film, the song was huge again. "I need to learn how to dance now". Cassie I said that while watching "Shall We Dance" if you haven't seen you would love it. Stanley tucci is everything hah. Gosh, comment so long, why, cause i love lol. peace.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

I FINALLY watched this movie, now I know why my mom loved it so much. It was one of the movies I'd kind of tease her about because she'd always be watching or just had it on in the background (oh and she loved Grease too lol). It'd be this or Peggy Sue Got Married, or Gone With the Wind, if it was the Holidays and she was wrapping gifts or making tamales or decorating she'd always have Gone With the Wind on. As you can tell I really miss her. Great reaction, really brought a smile to my face, a little misty eyed thinking about my mom, not gonna lie, but mostly happy, really fun watching along Cass 😊

Joeking

This is far and away my favourite reaction, so far. Fascinating fact, Jennifer Grey, daughter of Joel Grey and formerly married to Clark Gregg, agent of shield.

Tara

I remember seeing this movie in the theater. It wasn’t supposed to do as well as they expected, but it was the sleeper box office hit of the summer in 1987. Jennifer Grey also started a trend. After this movie came out all the girls (including me) were wearing jean shorts down to our knees and then folded up into a cuff. Stores were selling out of them. I saw others mention that Jennifer and Patrick didn’t get along. A few years earlier they were in Red Dawn together and Jennifer apparently had a bad experience and didn’t want to do Dirty Dancing with Him at first, but thank god they worked things out. And yes, Patrick had a knee injury and he jumped off the stage multiple times and he was only going to do one more take if I remember correctly and luckily they got the shot they needed. The song She’s like the wind is playing in the background when Johnny says goodbye to Baby and they show her alone and then her sister offers to do her hair. Again, if I remember correctly, Patrick had that song and they needed a song for the movie so he suggested it. The lyrics really work with the movie. I’d been waiting for this reaction Cassie and it was awesome watching it again with you. Until next time 🍿

This was my ex-girlfriend's favorite movie so I had to sit through it at least every other week. But now I really don't mind sitting through it any more. RIP Swayze. What a huge loss for films when he passed away. Fun fact: despite their on screen chemistry they did NOT have a good relationship after starring in Red Dawn together. It took a lot of convincing to get the ball rolling and they eventually put it behind them. You should check out Point Break sometime. A great Swayze/Keanu Reeves movie. Not only was Swayze a professional actor and dancer but he was a licensed skydiver and performed all his own stunts in Point Break.

A Dad’s default mode is to place their Babies in the corner. Jennifer Grey’s (Baby) big breakout movie was Ferris By Ellen’s Day off. If you have not watch it you really need to. It is one of the all time 80’s classic.

My sister taped DD from the TV to vcr. Still have the tape.

Hey :) Sorry it took me a while to watch this, but this movie means so much to me I had to take a moment before tackling it. I must have watched this movie over a 100 times. It was one of 4 movies we had on VHS at our family cabin growing it. My sister and mother loved it so they watched it constantly when we were there (and we spent many weekends each year at our cabin). At first I didn't like it, I was 8-ish, but after a few dozen times it just grew on me. It reminds me of fond memories. My mother's favorite moment was when the old lady at the end throws off her fur shawl. My sister was madly crushing on Patrick Swayze. I always found Penny to be an incredible dancer with a gentle heart. Sadly both my sister and mother passed away in 1998 and 2006, so it's been a movie I haven't watched since the 90s to be honest. But it was truly lovely to watch it again and see your reaction to it. I'm so happy you liked it and that it is still holding up. Thank you for posting this. It might be just another movie reaction to some, but for me this has been the most profound reaction so far. In terms of personal meaning. So thank you. :) PS: I laughed every time you took a sip of your drink and by the "Hello Newman..." ;)

Got to be one of the best reactions i have seen. great film and the realization on your face of what you have been missing all these years is priceless.

Just Michelle

why are so many of your older reactions no long available to watch? None of the links work. I signed up for your Patreon because I thought it would be so much fun catching up with all your older movies, but so many just don't work :(

Additionally, I don't think patrons should need to sign up to vimeo to watch the video. The less hoops to jump through, the better.

If you like Swazey I recommend teen movie Donnie Darko

I'm not sure I enjoyed this *quite* as much as Cassie, but nice to tick this one off my list after 40 years, lol

I’m late to the party so I’m sure this has been mentioned. Baby’s father was played by the wonderful Jerry Orbach who was the voice of Lumiere in the animated Beauty and the Beast. Penny is played by Cynthia Rhodes. She is not only an actress but she joined the band Animotion as their replacement lead singer and later married singer Richard Marx I highly recommend Shall We Dance and Sliding Doors
