Hey guys! Here's the full reaction to Attack of the Clones! As you guys know, I love a love story, but this one just left me wanting more! I mean, I know they had to do it this way because we know what happens with Anakin and it's not the main part of the story but still... I'm also still a bit confused about some of the plot but hopefully it all comes together in the next one. And yes I know I'm slow... I didn't put together that Padme is Luke and Leia mom until like the very last minute of the review hahah 🤦‍♂️ Over all though, I love the Star Wars universe and actually did like this one, although not as much as the first. We'll see what Episode III has in store soon!

I'm surprised you don't remember Princess Leia mentioning in a message to Obi-Wan thru R2 that she needs his help because he helped his father during the clone wars, well this is that.

JPDotCom23

I always thought I'd give these movies another try, but I am now convinced they are not good, I'm just watching these for you, Cassie, your cute reactions

Sahitya

Cactus Tony

Maybe i'm too early but your reaction download link is only available for the 360p version.

KTVindicare

First. Looking forward to this. Even though I consider this is the weakest of the prequels, I loved this movie as a kid. Looking forward to seeing Cassie's reaction.

MatthewBrown74m

Well I am glad your enjoying the prequels cassie I love you the fact you love star wars in general I had a feeling you love the love story in this. :) me I just love Jango fett lol

Brian McGovern

I hate sand.its coarse and gets into everything. Between my toes. My ears My hair.

Cactus Tony

That's what I figured but wasn't sure, thanks for the explanation!

Dustin Nelson

I read the novelization before I saw the movie and that helped overlook some of the production based issues this one has. I like it anyway though. HYPED!

E

Robin T

We will all disagree on which are the best Star Wars movies and which are the worst, but I'm sure we all agree this one has the most awkward dialogue. As I said before - like a sixth grade production of Wuthering Heights. And it's not just the chemistry-less lovers. "This is such a drag." "Around the survivors a perimeter create." 🤢 Also, was Lucas aware of how creepy Anakin's flirting is? It may have been intentional, but it's also not really reckoned with, so it feels like it wasn't. Lucas doesn't exactly have the best track record with respectful relationships (looking at you, Temple of Doom).

MetallicOpeth

haha nice sweater, fitting after that Ford v Ferrari reaction

Josh Phillips

Saw this in theaters! Everyone went crazy when all the Jedi showed up in the stadium! Felt a lot like when Cap lifted Thor’s hammer! Awesome atmosphere!

Sean Stuart

Cassie i'm guessing you will need a box of kleenex for episode 3.

Patrick Flanagan

I get that this is George Lucas's creation and he's allowed to take it in whatever direction he wants, but there are some incredibly dumb revelations in the Prequels. At no point was there ever any sign that Jedi had to swear off families before this. We know precious little about the Jedi from strictly what's on screen but among the first things we learned was that Luke's dad was a Jedi and it didn't seem weird to anyone. No one remarked "Well as you know, Luke, Jedi can't have kids so your father got in some trouble" or anything like that. How can the Force run strong in Jedi families when they're not supposed to be having families at all?

djKENTO

Just got a 4K tv last month and finally have a reason to bust out my 4K copies. So excited.

Patrick Flanagan

I didn't enjoy THE PHANTOM MENACE because it was mainly aimed at children. But this movie introduces what I think is the fatal flaw of this trilogy: Anakin. Adult Anakin is just written and played totally wrong in my opinion. Anakin should have been a legendary hero, the bravest of the brave, a devoted friend and driven by strong morals and kindness - a Jedi Lancelot, in other words. Instead he's surly, arrogant, resentful and violent right from the beginning. He's already an entitled jerk so there isn't much tragedy in his corruption and downfall. Anakin and Obi-Wan are supposedly the best of friends but almost every scene together has either Obi-Wan lecturing Anakin or Anakin complaining to Obi-Wan. And the less said about the love story the better.

Mike Vasconcelos

Seeing Anakin getting frustrated and focus on negativity is a pathway to the darkside. There are foreshadowing's all throughout these 3 movies of his demise. The subtle, small moments of anger, depression, anxiety, fear and pain are all hints.. Its so sad to see the amount of pain he goes through.

Myles Away

The most horrifying movie posted this spooky season

Robin T

But they aren't "hints" of what's to come - they're his defining traits. There's never any good version of Anakin to fall or to redeem.

Ronny Boss

If you want a good love story you should watch The Crow. It's in the genre of action/fantasy; but at the heart of the movie is an intense love story.

William Bryan

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Cassie was about 12 and in 6th grade in 2002. Where was she in the movie world? Who knows lol

Robin T

"Go frolick! Oh! They're frolicking!" This is why your channel is the best Cassie. I almost spat out my drink. 😂

sammi

If anyone needs help syncing the reaction to the movie on Disney+ you can try out this browser extension that I developed: https://www.casper.live/ You can pause and jump around in the reaction and everything is kept in sync. My recommended "offset" for this reaction is 77.

KTVindicare

Count Dooku and Saruman the White are indeed played by the same amazing actor. Sir Christopher Lee.

Wes Stewart

Fun fact: the “death sticks” guy is sometimes credited as Elan Sleazebaggano. The actor who plays him also played ‘Mouse’ in The Matrix.

Dustin Nelson

It is the weakest of the prequels but in its defense it has to cram a lot of important events into its runtime. The dialogue definitely needed outside help but the story still works well. Certainly better than the satanic nightmare hell of the Disney star wars movies

Dustin Nelson

In AOTC he's still a teen an most of his growing up happens off camera in the clone wars. He does become that guy you described, we just don't get to see much of it theatrically.

Dustin Nelson

God I LOVE Christopher Lee, especially as Lord Summerisle in The Wicker Man. That may have too much nudity for here unfortunately, it's such an incredible mystery thriller.

Patrick Flanagan

If the movie requires one to watch several seasons of a cartoon in order to fill in the gaps in a story, then it has failed.

KTVindicare

"why am I still confused though?!?!" The dark side clouds everything.

Philip Alan

You're feelings are correct. Spot on! But still fun to watch your reaction. And yes, very cheesy when they were rolling around on the hillside. CHEESE! And you're reaction to her landing on the animal and kissing Anakin! CHEESE! haha!

Joel

The clones are good but the reason the republic has them is suspicious. This movie is probably the worst of the prequels, it tries to do way too much, in my opinion at least. The next one is my favorite though so I'm excited to see what you think!

E

Episode 3 will redeem this episode, trust me lol. The clones are all for the republic, all good. No stormtroopers yet. It's good that you still enjoyed it overall because of the entire story, that's the right mentality with the prequels. Episode 3 is the best of the three.

Brian McGovern

Episode Chew. I think only aussie subscribers will get that reference. :)

MattN

Great react Cassie! Don't worry not liking this one as much as others. Robin T hit the nail on the head when they said that "we will all disagree on which are the best Star Wars movies and which are the worst". I haven't seen this movie since the first time I watched it. But, I don't like star wars for the plot as much as the universe and world building. I think that's the best, and this one didn't really do much of anything except set the stage for the next one(in my opinion ofc). I do look forward to seeing the next one though! ps I love the sweater!

Trembling Colors

Yes, Chancellor Palpatine wanted the war started so he could have supreme chancellor powers and a massive army to control. And yes, that was Christopher Lee who played Saruman playing Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus (his sith name), he also played Dracula in a bunch of movies in the 60s-70s.

MatthewBrown74m

Love the reaction Christopher Lee is amazing as a sith lord I just wish he had more alot

Andrew Ramos

"Why do the brothers like the sisters in all of these?" lmao I'm going to guess because there's only like 7 women in the Star Wars universe

SebastianTheCourtious

Don't worry about being confused with this movie. You will get your answers in the next one

Patrick Flanagan

Lee is one of the few highlights of this movie. For just a little while he plays the character as ambiguous, and we think "Hmm...maybe he IS telling us the truth, maybe the separatists only formed to oppose the hidden Sith threat. Interesting twist!" Lucas then just forgot about this almost immediately and had Dooku go back to being a regular old bad guy.

David Martin

have your tissues ready for episode 3 lol

Patrick Flanagan

Most importantly he was the mad scientist Dr. Catheter in GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH

Mr. Killeverything

Such a fun reaction, now you got Episode III, the best movie of the prequel series! Hurry up and get that one out, I am excited to see what you think! Cheers!

Sinan1608

Everything I said was established in Attack of the clones. It´s only a spoiler if you haven´t seen the original trilogy, which she has.

Biggman83

Thats full of spoilers. Let Cassie experience it properly. No clues! I get that you are trying to be helpful, and are excited for Cassie, but it all falls into place during Ep III anyway, so really your only taking away from her reaction.

Luetin

Its safe to say your reaction part 3 is going to be worth watching lol

Sinan1608

What is in there that hasn´t been established in Episode II? This was the knowlege we had back in the day going into Episode III.

Obie Brown

Cassie knows a quality love story, but she is right this aint it. Other than Jango Fett this movie is baaaaad.

Sean Stuart

great information but i think this will best be served for her after seeing the third. she got the basic gist of it. i just don't want to spoil her viewing.

Sean Stuart

somewhat agree but episode iii occurs after time has passed and people mature. passage of time has occurred between most star wars movies. i will argue that this should have been the first and given backstory throughout the trilogy of what occurred in phantom menace. clone wars continues into the 2nd and get close to what we got in the third.

Jon Johns

Oh My, Since I've watched so much stuff outside the movies, it's very difficult to see this film and imagine not knowing everything, like what the 7 Seasons of The Clone Wars (133 1/2 hour episodes) gave us, plus the Clone Wars animated movie, plus the Non-Canon(?) Clone Wars Cartoons by Genndy Tartakovsky, The comics, novelizations, and more. Cassie: LOVE that sweatshirt! Props to someone for picking it out for you? It's so joyful to see you pumped up for the opening 20th Century Fox logo, like the rest of us usually are, especially after waiting for years to see it again. Oddly, Padme is only 5 years older than Anakin, who is 20 years old in this film? But their maturity level separation is much wider! Something you noticed, Cassie, is stuck in my head. If all the Jedi are not supposed to have 'connections' and all the Jedi start training as younglings, do the Jedi take all these kids off to their temple, and brainwash them to forget their families? Kind of dark, if you think about it. I noticed that they just 'took' C-3PO from Tatooine, leaving Lars without an interpreter for the Moisture Vaperators? That is an expensive thing to just 'take'. Cassie, please don't feel so confused, this film is so poorly made in that it fails to tell the story well, confuses the plot, just gets cheesy. Other have also said on here, if a film requires so much outside story-telling to understand it, it is a bad film.

Doug R

Your best reaction yet. My favorite was when you saw Anikan for first time. Hello..... LOL. I think your husband may have a challenger. 😆

Doug Fisher

Just a couple of things... First, they start training youngling before they are old enough to form strong attachments to their parents so they do not have that fear of loss (fear leads to anger, anger leads...). It is not as if they are stealing children, since they would need the cooperation of the parents. Also C-3PO is actually Anakin's, he built him if you remember.

Jon Johns

Thanks Doug Fisher, good points. I know 3PO 'belongs' to Anakin, but still... I guess I see a missing opportunity for a scene showing Lars approving of 3PO's return to Anakin. In an already bloated film, I'm nitpicking, I know. But so much is left out, and too much left in.

Ethan May

Y'all can't imagine how excited I was first watching this. A actual full-blown war finally kicked off in Star Wars (it's in the name after all.). I loved the clones, even before Dave Filoni went and made them more human and made some excellent clone characters with the clone wars show. In the movie's they're more robotic and have less character, sadly, but I sort of understand. Can't wait for episode III, it's the best of the three by far.

Doug Fisher

Unfortunately, George was more focus on what he CAN do rather that what he SHOULD do. I liked the prequals, but the dialog, plot, story, directing, and editing really suffered from his focus on digital and his experimenting with digital effects. I would not blame the actors too much in these prequals. They were kind of left on their own as George was focused on other things (not that he was ever a really great Director to begin with). Do not get me wrong, I love George, and will forever be thankful for the world he gave us, but his strengths lay in creativity and themes, not so much the other stuff. If he had his ex-wife still around, the movies would have been a lot tighter and you wouldn't have felt the length as you did. Also, the Imperial March music you heard at the end was foreshadowing... the troopers, the ships, etc.

Doug Fisher

I have to disagree, though I will not say why as I do not want to spoil anything for Cassie. All I will say is there is a reason for why he is acting the way his is, if you think about it. If it doesn't come to you I will give my reason for disagreeing after Episode III.

Lamar Smith

I sent you an early Christmas Present. Due Nov 2 from Amazon in PO Box. Please check Patreon messages from me. Please let me know you received it.

Fraser

An improved pronunciation of Ewan! Praise be :)

Doug Fisher

Fair enough... and what you say is true. Sadly, George never really was a great editor and usually had his butt saved by others.... well, before he became too big and only surrounded himself with yes-men that is.

Dustin Nelson

He got to play Saruman and Count Dooku because he was such a huge icon as British Dracula in that time. The name Count Dooku is actually a play on Count Dracula

Mike Lipke

you need to watch the Clone Wars now before ep. 3 , it will explain everything

Dustin Nelson

The more I think about this one the more confident I am that while it's the weakest prequel it's still better than the best Disney Star Wars film (can you say "Devil worshipping international media conglomerate"?)

Paul G

I'm both amused and frustrated that Cassie hasn't figured out the major character (villain) connection yet after two prequels! I can't wait for it to all come into focus in the next movie, her realization will be epic!

Shaun2342!

Revenge of the Sith is by far the best of the prequel movies, and I don't think there is a single person on here that would disagree with me. You will enjoy it the most.

Nismo

Yep, that's what I always thought too. The dialogue and script isn't the best. The actors are great in other movies but here their acting is really wooden. Maybe it's a combination of George's directing and a lot of the sets where just giant green screens.

DaftBasterd

You probably won't ever read this, but thank so much for this. The timing was perfect. My depression is extremely bad right now and it was fun watching a film in a series that I've loved since I was a kid, with someone who has never seen it. I appreciate every movie you upload because your positivity and wholesomeness lifts me up, even if it's just a little bit. Thank you so much Cassie.

Grégory Gautier

It reminds me of my high school years, I had seen the film between two classroom or not .... :D

Mike LL

Doug, I have to agree with you that things had to happen the way they did. Phantom Menace is THE crucial chapter in the Star Wars saga, after all.

Mike LL

"It's just like Isengard" followed by "Is that Saruman?" was glorious! Magnificent, and why we are all here. Like tumblers in a lock clicking, watching you put all the pieces together is very entertaining. And the little revelation you had after the movie is over when realizing that Padme must be Luke and Leia's mother was the icing on the cake. When you were wondering early in the movie if Anakin and Padme were going to get together, I was talking to the screen saying "Yes, that is how Lukes and Leias are made!" Thanks for the best reactions!

Jason Mangen

Before watching number 3 you should watch the clone war series for a bit so you can get a feel about what will happen. If you don’t get the perspective of the clone war series there can be a lot of confusion about who is I’d who and what is going on. During the series you will get a better perspective on Obi Wan and Annakin. Annakin even get his own Padawan which plays out in Star Wars Rebels and the new Disney shows.

Robin T

...I actually would disagree. But I see why others don't.

Dustin Nelson

These have been helping me too, it's so nice to revisit these movies I've seen dozens of times with fresh perspectives, makes them feel new and puts me in a better headspace. Hope things start improving for you soon

Krusty “Topher”

Well as bad as this movie sucks….Natalie Portman sure does look good on the cover!!

Hannah Mather

I personally like these prequels the most out of any star wars content. Glad you are enjoying it!

Joseph Krider

This was, for me, the weakest of all the Star Wars movies. For me, seeing the future Darth Vader - literally THE baddest bada** in the galaxy - as a whiny teenager was just ... wrong.

Myles Away

The prequels are blinding evidence that Lucas was devoid of good ideas and had no idea what was good about the original sequel. The first Star Wars was saved because his wife was a brilliant editor. She saved that film. The best of the series, The Empire Strikes Back, is arguably the movie he had the least to do with.

Carol_White

"Why am I still so confused, though?" Because the movie sucks.

Georg Eide

A shame this movie came out the way it did, but i advice everyone to read the novel or audiobook to this movie. The internal dialog and narration gives a much better view of what is going on and what the characters are feeling.

Nick Deuchars

Yoda actually uses a cane because all that bouncing around and landing from 100 feet in the air is really tough on the knees. It’s a shame so many Jedi end up developing osteoarthritis

Hannah Mather

This was a great reaction! The catch about Saruman was really great. I like these movies too and I agree with most of your thoughts about it. Thanks!

Christopher B.

Cassie’s reactions to Anakins many lines towards Padme 😆

Alex Villarreal

If Cassie is slightly cringing at your romance story, your script needs a good polish. Great reaction! :)

Doug Fisher

I agree. Also George was never really an actors director, who could draw out great performances. Poor actors like Hayden and Natalie, who were both young and on their first big budget movie were probably given the direction "faster" and that was about it. Add to it the points you made about being on a big green screen... tall order for them both. Hell, he even made Samuel sound wooden.

Ceruleo

While that's true, I think the bigger problem is editing. I saw a fan edit years ago that was miles better that included unused footage. Anakin and Padme were spending time together and with her family. It felt like they were actually getting to know each other on Naboo. After watching the official version the first time, I was certain that it would turn out that Anakin had, probably unknowingly, force manipulated her into liking him.

FranciscoGios

For the editing of the prequels you need to thank George’s wife Mellody, if it wasn’t for her the story line would of been “worse”. Second at the end of the movie those are the leaders of the Republic Senate to witness their Clone Troopers starting The Clone Wars. Who are the Players of the Clone Wars? The Republic vs The Conferderation Separatists their Leader Count Dooku. And last but not least Yoda trained a few like Mace Windu, and Dooku; Dooku trained Qui-Gon Jinn when he was a Jedi. The High Republic era is where Yoda got his power as a Jedi.

CanadianNinja

Revenge of the Sith is by far my favourite of the three prequals and probably my favorite movie out if the franchise (followed closely by The Empire Strikes Back and Rogue One). However, my favorite piece of Star Wars media has to be the Clone Wars TV show. As have many others I highly recommend watching this show before watching Revenge of the Sith as it really clears up a lot of confusion with and provides more detail to the plots of both The Revenge of the Sith and even The Mandalorian. The show is pretty long, however, it is definitely worth the watch.

Patrick Flanagan

Not exactly sure to what you guys are referring. These are not documentaries and Anakin didn't have to be the thoroughly unlikable character he is. That's the result of storytelling choices made by George Lucas, Jonathan Hales and Hayden Christensen.

William Bryan

This is out of left field but one movie that is magnificent that, to my knowledge hasn't been brought up or Cassie has seen, is The Devil's Advocate. Pure gold

Robin T

I was thinking of Devil's Advocate a while back when she seemed to be going through a Keanu phase. Great movie and I'm pretty sure she'd like it. *But* it does edge right up to the line on both excessive nudity and demonic horror...

William Bryan

There's def some nudity but nothing worse than the woman in The Shining. The demonic horror isn't nearly as bad at it seems.

Cody Nelson

Great reaction as always Cassie! I like this movie but the love story is easily the worst aspect of it and it's mainly due to how it's written and directed. The horrible dialogue about sand doesn't help either. speaking of which, I literally laughed out loud when you said "so that's why he doesn't like sand!" You may not know this but that line about sand is one of most memed and made fun of lines of the prequal trilogy lol. I think you were touching on some of the things in your review at the end that people don't like about the prequals in general. That said, I think you're going to really like Revenge of the Sith. There are few other movies I've been as hyped to see in theaters as that one and I look forward to your reaction!

Verteron

I don't know why, but I really like this movie. I'm not quite sure why so many people have a hard time with this plot though. So many people are confused on who created the clone army. They might have been a bit too subtle considering that they only called Dooku "Tyranus" twice. Jango says he was hired by a man named Tryranus, and later at the end Darth Sidious says "You've done well, Lord Tyranus." Dooku hired Jango and deleted Kamino from the archive, and also gave a false name of a dead Jedi to cover his tracks. Then Dooku got star systems to leave the republic to create instability to distract and overwhelm the Jedi. As for the love story, it's pretty terrible, and the dialog is clunky. It's not as bad once they are together, but it's not too hard to see how two young attractive people stuck spending a ton of time alone together in beautiful settings would end up falling for each other. Overall, it's not the best Star Wars movie, but I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be.

Doug Fisher

A few interesting tidbits Cassie. Did you notice that Anakin passes Ahmed Best (actor who plays Jar Jar) when he first enters the club chasing the assassin? Also standing beside the Death Stick dealer (back turned) in the blue is Anthony Daniels (C-3PO)... he turns to see the commotion when Obi-Wan cuts the pistol from the assassin's hand. When Obi-Wan is staring at the bust in the library waiting for the librarian, the bust is Qui-Gon's. Last... when Anakin started attacking the Sand People, did you hear Qui-Gon shouting out "Anakin, Anakin!"?

Verteron

Also, how weird is it that Jango is raising a clone of himself as his child. I'm not sure I would want to raise a little me. lol

Alex Villarreal

I think I feel the same way. I enjoy this movie. Sure, it has its flaws, but there is also a lot to appreciate. I also love John William's masterful score,

TwistedMagoo

Excited for ep III, and I would recommend Rogue One after that, given it's place in the chronology.

Matt Chris

Since Matrix 4 is coming to Theaters soon, you should really consider watching Matrix 2 & 3 (Matrix Reloaded & Matrix Revolutions). These are nice movies , a great amount of people just think there are not as good as Matrix 1, but thats a hell of a challenge anyways to top that movie, cuz it is so amazing. But Matrix 2 & 3 are definitely worth watching :)

Sahitya

Of all the complaints ppl have with the prequals, atleast I can rewatch them. If you try to rewatch the Disney films it's torture, they really feel so superficial and pandering.

Snapjaw

The fact that star wars still gives me chills with the intro, & outro music after all these years, & times watching it is honestly amazing.

inpham0us

A lot of people like to trash the prequels but I enjoy them...other than the cheesy, forced romance with the wooden dialogue. I enjoy them a heck of a lot more than episodes 8 and 9 even with Jar Jar. lol My favorite quotes from Cassie for this one: "This looks like Isengard" and "That even sounds like Saruman!" That gave me a huge smile. RIP Sir Christopher Lee.

Jon Johns

I thought it was Dooku, one of the lost twenty? https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Lost_Twenty

Mark M

In Episode IV, Obi Wan briefly mentions 'the clone wars' and since that time I was curious about it. After such a long wait it was really disappointing to me. I guess they had to spend some time setting events for the next movie.

0lis

Just waited for the: "it is Saruman!"

MotoDork

Jango is not a clone. He's the guy the clones were based on. But his son, the unaltered clone, is Boba, as in "Boba Fett." You may have missed that. But yes, the scenes on Naboo where Anakin and Padme are talking and flirting are very very cheesy. There's a lot, actually, in this film that's difficult to watch. But the next one gets much better.

KTVindicare

Obligatory. The Clone Wars TV show, does a LOT to color in the era a lot better. The prequels in general are so much better when the Clone Wars is added to answer all of the nagging issues that people have with the story.

Andrew Hansen

I think this the worst of the first 6 movies but I do think it is overhated. I don't know if you like to read but if you do you need to read The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn and the books The Hand of Thrawn, it's a series star wars novels that were written between when the original movies and the prequels were released but set after The Return of the Jedi. They contain my favorite star wars character of all time who eventually becomes Luke's wife. I think you'd really enjoy the story, and they're far far FAR better than the sequels which I just pretend don't exist and stick with the expanded universe

Mark M

I watched the animated series as well and really enjoyed it. It actually makes the movie worse.

Mark M

In the scene where Mace Windu and Yoda meet with Chancellor Palpatine were the Jedi added recently? I wasn't sure if Luminara Unduli, Bariss Offee or Kit Fisto were in the original cut.

Charles LELEU

You will love the third episode, best Star Wars movie for me, I expect some tears though...

Marty McGee

The more times I see this, the more I'm convinced the flaws are in the dialogue and writing. Hayden has been criticized by the fandom as much or more than Jake Lloyd was, but again I don't think they did bad jobs. George just doesn't do the emotional stuff well. I mean in the original there was very little love story and honestly still not written well. Harrison and Carrie just had their own natural chemistry and were able to play it well. Hayden and Natalie are fantastic actors, but sometimes it just doesn't click so weren't able to save the writing. Episode 3 is the best of the prequel trilogy in my opinion, but even it has its cringy moments. Thanks Cassie! Looking forward to Ep. 3!!

Eric Zebrowski

@popcorninbed Just wanted to say for note it is nothing spoilery. That Episode III takes place 3 and Half Years after Episode II. Also once You finish the films check out The Clone Wars. It takes place between Episode II and III. When Clone Wars was released it was released story wise a bit out of Order. When You get too i think you would enjoy it because it builds relationships with the characters. Here is Official Star Wars: The Clone Wars Chronological Episode Order, it should help https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder

Daryl

It know right... But Cassie is far from alone in this. 80-90% of those I've watched traverse these films are precisely the same. It baffles and confounds me each and every time. lol

Daryl

An absolute spot on summation that lines up quite perfectly with my own thoughts on the way this one fails as a just a movie in general. Unfortunately George can be hampered by his over reaching visual ambition that overshadows the quite crucial and fundamental basics of narrative structure, character development, script production and stage direction. All these appear to come secondary to the visuals in almost all instances. The critique that it feels like a computer game is just about right I think. The next film is definitely far better imo.

Mike LL

then someone has to present an abbreviated number of episodes to watch. Asoka, Mandalorian, and Dark Blade episodes are the only essentials, imo (so including a choice few Rebels episodes, but maybe this list is too long already, lol)

Mike LL

For everyone, when you watch it, you're not ready to watch it.

Doug Fisher

That is one of those hotly disputed topics ever since The Lost Twenty were decanonized. Was there an original cut scene that had it as Dooku, yup?! There were a few reasons for that scenes removal. So with all of this in mind there was a choice between Obi-wan looking caringly at Qui-Gon's bust (which would be more appropriate for the setting) or it be a deleted foreshadowing scene. I choose the more romantic version... though that is for not now I guess.

james flack

William: My Colts let me down today, so I'm going to live vicariously through your team. Go Braves! -James P.S. Do you think 45 will take the credit if they win tonight?

Michael Jung

Why do I feel that the "It's Okay to Cry" logo was made for someone like Cassie to wear?

FranciscoGios

Chancellor Palpatine is The Commander in Chief of The Galactic Republic Army the same army of clones you see in the movie. He can’t be bad, the Republic senate leadership voted for him to represent them.

ArsTropica

Prequels are always tough. It's hard enough pacing a trilogy but there is also the challenge of fitting one that chronologically precedes a beloved story must have been a logistical nightmare. That said, I think that they threw everything but the kitchen sink against the wall in this movie and hoped something would stick long enough for it not to come off as a filler between episodes I & III.

Martin Skouboe

I like the story in the second one but while I didn't mind the CGI so much at the time (almost 20 years ago) it hasn't aged well and I think a lot of directors learned a lesson about what could be done with CGI and what couldn't. I don't mind most CGI but so many scenes in Attack of the Clones have substituted everything even the floor, ground or furniture with CGI which is what makes it feel very dated to me. It didn't bother me as much in the first one but I think because Clones went for so much CGI in all aspects, there simply wasn't time to polish any of it beyond a certain level and to hide some of the details they strangely decided to over expose every shot. It's also why the acting feels disconnected because it is. It's a collection of short scenes on green screens lining the walls and floors. This was also shot at a time when actors weren't as used to CGI as they are today. I almost wish they would go back and redo the CGI with 2021 tech, just to keep the old CGI to distract from what I think was a great story. The 3rd one really is the crown jewel of the prequels though, so in my opinion it's something to look forward to.

Anakin was too old to start traditional Jedi training. At his age he had already developed his attachment towards his mother and as Yoda pointed out, this attachment created fear in Anakin. The American Psychiatric Association agreed that Anakin meets the criteria for Border Personality Disorder. As someone with BPD myself, controlling emotions when it comes to loss, separation or abandonment are next to uncontrollable. I can't imagine the discipline it would take for a Jedi with both attachments and BPD. Monks and other monastic groups usually refrain from attachments in the same way as Jedi because attachment causes fear, suffering and is a distraction from such a focused discipline. I highly recommend the Clone Wars animated series. You can tell the show was made with love and devotion by Dave Filoni. It stays true to the worldbuilding, the writing is great and the story fleshes out Anakin and Obi's life during the Clone Wars. If you miss those characters (Ani, Padame, Obi, Windu, Yoda, Palpatine, R2, C3PO...), want to really know deeper lore, or just want more good Star Wars content, the Clone Wars is it. Some critics say the Clone Wars is the best Star Wars content since Empire. I like Rogue One. Not everyone does, but I see it as Disney's only decent SW film. It stays very true to the nostalgic style people feel from 4-5-6. The story is simple and linear, the space battle is one of the best, and it pleasantly connects to the start of Episode 4. You don't rly get attached to the characters, except maybe the droid, but I think it was directed this way on purpose. It's simply a simple story. Mandalorian is good but without Clone Wars, the appearance of an amazing character will have little impact. When it comes to the sequels..... They are very pretty. Um. The graphics are stunning and the actors can act. The lightsaber duels are exciting and things happen! The issue I have with the sequels is that they kinda defecate on the previous 6 films. The story is derivative and insulting to the story, strife, characters and history of the previous 6 episode aand the Clone Wars. The sequels had so much previous content as a foundation and infinite possibilities for new story, worldbuilding.... .... they're very exciting, expensive eye-candy that could ruin the previous 6 films for you. You seem to have good instinct with the politics. The Viceroy in Phantom Menace retained his position as head of the Trade Federation after his failed invasion of Naboo. This invasion was part of a deal the Federation made with Darth Sidius. It is important to note that even though the Federation is a conglomerate/merchants/guild type group, they own huge droid armies and battleships. Dooku lured and tricked many organizations, some with armies, into the Separist movent. The Trade Federation joined on the condition that the previous Queen Amidala be assassinated. I believe the Viceroy also confided in Dooku about his dealings with Darth Sidius without knowing that Dooku is Darth Tyranus. At this point the Separatists have huuge droid armies while the Republic has Jedi and planets' local defenses. That's why in Ep. 2, the Vote to create an army of the Republic is a central issue. Coincidentally, the Jedi conveniently encounter the clone army on Kamino. Since the army cannot be mobilized without the Senate's vote, it is suggested that the Supreme Chancellor get emergency powers to bypass the vote and expedite the Grand Clone Army for the Republic. Representative Jar-Jar of Naboo proposes this amendment to the Senate and Chancellor Palpatine is granted the power to bring forth the clones.

The Sequels without Jar Jar Binks would be the best Star Wars triology. Only because episode III is amazing and the old Episode IV is not holding up to todays action movie standards

Mikio

The force as directly linked to your feelings, as described in the triology when Luke needs to search his feelings. Having too many feeling towards others clouds your judgement as the force link because too big, which is why Anakin cannot think of anything but the ones he loves.

You finally see how everything in the first couple of movies was manipulated in the third movie,.... everything comes out. The part that was really difficult for me to see was the transition of Anakin from Jedi to Vader (Sith). I understand his motivations: fear of loss, wanting to be the most powerful, to be able to save those he loves,.... but he does seem very childish and whiny through the last two movies,... it wasnt a smooth transition - it all felt very forced. The temper tantrums just didn't seem very "jedi" like. The reason Yoda uses the cane, is he uses the "Force" when he absolutely needs it,.... he uses it wisely,... he doesn't abuse it. Part of the back story with use of the Force is that when it used especially in a powerful way,... there is an opposite reaction somewhere else in the universe,.... its like a yin-yang type relationship,... it needs balance. Darth Tyranus (Count Dooku) is Darth Sidious apprentice, just as Darth Maul was his apprentice. There is something called the "Rule of Two" where there is always a Master and apprentice in the Sith,... but the apprentice is always trying to get enough power so he can become the Master,... by destroying his Master,... and the Master "uses" his apprentice as fodder,... wanting only the strongest to survive, and knowing his apprentice will attempt to take his own position. And since you have figured it out,.... Padme is Luke's and Leia's mother. I will let the rest of the story unfold for you in episode III. I think one thing should be said about the cinematics. George Lucas made his special effects company specifically for Star Wars,... there were NO companies in 1977 that could make those special effects at that time that were that good,.... and they have gotten very good at it,... which is why the prequels have much better special effects and bigger battles with much better fight scenes than in the previous movies. George Lucas also envisioned the original Star Wars movie to be a Space Opera with the light saber battles originally similar to Feudal Japanese Samurai sword fights. I really enjoy how much better the light saber battles are in the prequels,... but understand how and why they were filmed in the original trilogy as well. For me, the acting and story line are weak in the prequel, but I enjoy them for what they are. Really my two biggest complaints for the prequel trilogy is the complete idiocy of Jar Jar Binks (I really hate that character), and Anakins whinyness, or how they had him turn to the dark side,... it was a necessary part of the story, but it wasnt done well, in my opinion for the most part. Oh, I saw it took a while for you to see that Jango Fett was Bobo Fett's father from the first trilogy. Exploring the whole Mandalorian thing is a thing in itself,.... it is deeply entrenched in its own SW lore. For me, Rogue One is one of my favorites of the whole series,... but only after you have seen the other movies for context (the first six at least). It is a complete stand alone movie but adds context to SW Episode 4, and is from a non-jedi/non-sith point of view (for the most part).

I think its important to recognize that Dooku did those things at the direction of his Master,.... Darth Sidious

Anakin is 20, Padme is 24. Perfectly fine

Sean Novack

He was nine in the original and she was 14. They are 19 and 24 here. Close enough though, your point stands.

Dustin Nelson

In the prologue of the novelization his mom is thinking about how it'll be Anakin's 20th birthday "soon" before she's captured a month or 2 before the film events start. Assume another month or so as the film progresses and His 20th Birthday likely takes place off camera during that time period or slightly before

This storyline needed to be cleaned up a lot in order to have "The Phantom Menace" make more sense to people not as familiar with the Star Wars universe. There is a lot of emotional and tragic content in this film, and Lucas completely stepped on it with idiotic puns like "what a drag" and "I'm beside myself" while the flower of the Jedi Order is being slaughtered around them...exactly as the Sith wished. The man is a brilliant worldbuilder, but as a storyteller he kind of sucks. The next film again has a wonderful story, poorly executed on film. The novelization by Matthew Stover of "The Revenge of the Sith" makes my Top Five list of all time out of the thousands of books I've read over the last 40 years. If you are at all a fan of reading, I can't recommend it highly enough!

Björn Von Knorring

What do you mean? She will be fine. Ohhhh, wait, you´re thinking about that one scene in particular. Yeah, a box of kleenex is probably not sufficient... (I´m sligthly sarcastic if that doesn´t come through in text)

Richard Maurer

I don't think it was so much Disney as it was the person they put in charge -Kathleen Kennedy. After all, the MCU movies turned out really well under Disney.

Richard Maurer

A little bit of trivia. The name Count Dooku was a play on Count Dracula, Christopher Lee's most famous role.

Tobias Eiken

Oh! My! Gosh! Absolutely terrible movie! The pathetic dialogue, extremly excessive CGI, the horrible acting of Hayden Christensen, the "daddiest" dad jokes of all time from C-3PO and maybe the cringiest love story scenes in movie history. And still it's better than The Phantom Menace because the scens with Jar-Jar are mercifully short and few and far between. If it wasn't for the enjoyable reaction I don't think I would have made it through.
