This was unexpected and fun and different and I can't wait to watch the masters this weekend now ;) I don't think Renee Russo and KC had as good of chemistry as her and Mel in Lethal Weapons, they should have cast me I guess!

For thosr calling for 'Caddyshack'.... I understand... it was likely part of you youth or something - a truly funny movie... BUT 'The Greatest Game Ever Played' is ... a great story, with great performances, filmed beautifully... TGGEP is- a truly GREAT movie! BTW, so is 'Bagger Vance'!

Mike Lemon

Bagger Vance is one of my favorites and easily a "Cassie movie" (Carly too). I don't think Caddyshack will be one Cassie would like. But Costner in Mr. Brooks is a must watch "scary, not too scary" movie. It would probably be OK for Carly too.

This movie is genuinely fun...I'm not sure if it's good--no, I think it's good. It's definitely all right. But it's fun. Kind of charming. And silly. And fun.

Poor one out for Rory "Mac-Elroy"

While I was watching, it occured to me that Cassie and Carly might enjoy The Guardian (2006). It’s got KC and Ashton Kutcher as lifeguards.

Chris Davis

I really enjoy KC in so many movies! For the next Spring movie, watch KC in "Draft Day"! Also, this was written by Ron Shelton, whose work I've always enjoyed. In September, put "The Best of Times" on your list, another Ron Shelton classic! '80's Small Town Football movie with Kurt Russel and Robin Williams!

“Who knew Golf could be so exciting?” How many Sports are there, where every play is crucial? Every swing of the club, could be the shot that wins it for you or loses it for you. What if you lost points every time you missed a basketball shot or made an incomplete pass in football and went into negative points? How many Sports require just as much, if not more, Mental skills than Physical skills? Golf can get intense and very exciting. In 2016, at the Masters, Jordan Spieth had his own “Tin Cup” moment, that was less triumphant, but still memorable. https://youtu.be/PPLsVVEWXhY?si=VXNK-VA7OSzvKKeC Roy’s Twelve at the End is one of my Favorite Sports Movie Moments. Sometimes winning is not the most important thing. Sometimes going the safe route just doesn’t sit right with you. I find similarities between Roy McAvoy and another Costner character, Ray Kinsella from Field of Dreams. When Ray was talking to Annie about his Father, he said, “The man never did one spontaneous thing in all the years I knew him. Annie, I'm scared that that's what growing up means. I'm afraid of that happening to me. And something tells me this may be my last chance to do something about it.” Both Roy and Ray felt compelled to go against the grain. They felt that they had to prove something to themselves. They were both presented with a “Defining Moment.” And Roy said, “when a defining moment comes along, you define the moment or the moment defines you. I did not shrink from the challenge.” I admire that. Sometimes you have to just say… “Damn the Torpedos, Full Steam Ahead!” ———————————— Carly asked, “What is this song?” The song that was playing during the time that Earl was caddying, was “Double Bogey Blues” by Mickey Jones. Mickey can be seen in Tin Cup as the guy at the door of the strip club and playing guitar and singing on the bus with the rest of the cast during the song. https://youtu.be/VL7ZiWLqXaE?si=fq4KWgth8L9rr5KC In the 60s, Mickey Jones was primarily a drummer. He replaced Levon Helm (see The Right Stuff 1983) as Bob Dylan’s and The Band’s drummer temporarily during Dylan’s 1966 tour. Shortly afterwards, he was approached by Kenny Rogers to be the drummer of his new band, The First Edition. In 1968, Kenny, Mickey and the rest of First Edition released a song, "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" I’m sure PIB will remember this song… https://youtu.be/gcnJX0p9FLI?si=Pemya-m5nNAxhKL1 and Live version… https://youtu.be/AULOC--qUOI?si=JTaMT8aBj9fbgNOA Would love to do a Deep Dive into the Soundtrack for Tin Cup, but I’ve ran long enough. I recommend checking out the artists… Texas Tornados, Keb’ Mo’, Buddy Guy, Mary Chaplin Carpenter, and Amanda Marshall. As well as Bruce Hornsby (back from Backdraft) and Chris Isaak (with the same song, “I Wonder,” that was perfectly used in Fools Rush In). Lastly… for some more Young and Fun Kevin Costner… I recommend Fandango (1985). I believe it’s in your Collection, Cassie. ;-)

Directly after watching this movie back in 1996, I went to my local record store and bought the soundtrack. It’s so good, words elude me. I still have the CD and it’s all so danceable and a pleasure for the ears!

Thanks for the reaction ladies, great as always. Here's a vote for The Greatest Game Ever Played the next time you're in the mood for a golf movie.
