Okay, I'm back from watching the full reactions. Bummed I missed the live (although I did stop by). So much to unpack, but I guess what I like most about Cassie's reaction is that she really understands the sacrifice these men made so we can live in the world today. I worry so many people don't realize what it takes to make a free world. Even worse, we are always a short step from losing freedom. Like Cassie said, I hope we don't have to go through another world war. I wish this show covered the B-29s over the Pacific. It probably would bot be as exciting. But the ending would be interesting with the atomic bombs and all. 🤞 Also here's to hoping Cassie watches the Amazing Stories episode with Costner as a B-17 pilot!

I just read that they found a 500kg WW2 German bomb in a garden in Plymouth February of 2024.

OK, assuming most are caught up, here is one moment that was a big miss in the final camp scene: The tanks were from the U.S. Third Army, that is, General Patton's army. Never being far from the front (often, he was right on the front), Patton jumped on the lead tank that went through the gate and was standing exposed, while live fire was still being exchanged. Like LeMay, Patton was a very complex individual. But unlike Hollywood and media portrayals, the vast majority of his men loved him. He was also perhaps the greatest allied general in terms of strategy and execution. Anyway, him — a 3-Star General —on the tank (reportedly by some manning the .50 caliber machine gun) was one of those moments where the facts, if written into a script, would've been scratched out for being too far fetched. That it happened was amazing and would've been an incredible touch. My guess is given how the series treated LeMay, that kind of leader, warts and all, is out of fashion in Hollywood these days. More's the pity.

I wonder if Cassie ever googled the ballad of the ball turret gunner? Or if She's thinking of seeing Memphis Belle?

I will tell you Cassie, I didn't have an initial opinion on this one because I knew nothing about it. I can tell you, after my wife and I watched it with you, we loved it. Both for what it offered, and what you brought to it. I can say from both of us, thank you very much!
