Wwwweeeellllll..... definitely not my favorite. It was a chaos I didn't quite understand. I think they were being intentionally cheesy but it just didn't hit for me. I didn't mind the mullet though!

[Full Reaction] Big Trouble In Little China (1986)

I had a feeling this was not going to be Cassie’s kind of movie. While the absurdity of it can be fun (The Last Dragon comes to mind) and Kurt Russell is obviously having fun, this is a “take it or leave it” film for me. Not as horrible as Escape from LA but definitely not one of his best. I would check out Silkwood, The Mean Season, Tequila Sunrise or the silly but endearing The Best of Times with Robin Williams.

This movie is a comedy. They used to make really fun popcorn action comedies like this and Golden Child in the 80s. It's supposed to be over the top and campy fun. You aren't supposed to get the logic of the story, its just silly fantasy. This film is a classic and is made by the great John Carpenter.

The Last Dragon is a guilty pleasure movie that I love to pieces but would never recommend to anyone. But dat final fight scene... Oh my.

Yeah, I had a feeling you wouldn't care much for this one. Honestly, neither do I really. The popularity of this and FIFTH ELEMENT always confounded me as I find them more annoying than anything else. I was hoping for STARGATE, ESCAPE FROM NY, MIRACLE or even BREAKDOWN to win the poll, but alas it was not to be. Oh, well. Onward and upward. Hopefully you'll get to react to those other tithed at some point. They are all much better than BIG TROUBLE and more up your alley.

Hey Cassie, a couple of things to truly understand this movie. First, John Carpenter movies are intentionally over the top with weird monsters and things like that. I mean look at The Thing.. or this movie or even Ghosts of Mars. Its intentional for him to be out there. Second, Jack Burton wasnt really the hero of the movie, and this is actually documented that Wang Chi was the hero and Jack was more of the representation of the audience being brought into that strange world. I am sad to see you didnt enjoy it, but while watching your reaction it did seem you were enjoying it and getting most of the humor. This movie isnt for everyone thats for sure. And actually the original concept for this movie was going to be set in the old west where Jack was trying to get his horse back. Perhaps if you watch it again with that perspective you might enjoy it a bit more. But as always it was fun watching this with you and seeing how youd react. Your reactions are priceless.

Like you said, everyone has different tastes. So many people love this movie, but I hate it. This is my third time seeing it, and I don't get the attraction. "Tequila Sunrise," "3000 Miles to Graceland," and "Unlawful Entry" are all good, but you have already done all his best movies.

So many haters here, and that's fine, It's okay to dislike any film (except LotR - that's NOT okay). But what I don't get is why everyone thinks the fact that Cassie didn't like it was a reason for her not to watch it. First of all, we don't know for sure what movies Cassie will or will not like (300 and Kill Bill, anyone?). Second, and sure a lot of people will disagree, but it's not important to me that Cassie likes every film she watches, even when it's a film I personally like, as for instance BtiLC. All I care about is a honest and interesting reaction, not picking "safe" films I'm sure she'll love. One of my favorite reactions of Cassie's is to The Crow, which is one of my favorites, but clearly not one of hers. But I've watched (and enjoyed) her full reaction once, and the YT edit several times and really enjoyed her reaction. Sorry, but this type reaction is just more entertaining to me than her gushing about some Rom-Com that I care nothing about. Let me put it this way - if I could go back in time, knowing what I know now, I'd still vote for Big Trouble in Little China (and also play the lottery, but that's a separate thing).

If someone would have told me Cassie would rank Tucker & Dale vs Evil ahead of The American President I would have never believed it. But it happened. It is impossible to predict but one can speculate to some degree. And your right also about honest reviews. That's so important.

David Conroy

I wouldn't say I hate it, but all my friends love this one and I have never understood why.

You're a Canadian, you're going to watch a movie about US Olympic hockey? There should be a movie about Sydney Crosby and the Golden Goal.

I'm kidding, Kurt Russell in 'Miracle' was awesome, great movie.
