First! 😎Go Grand Canyon & Charleston and GO-ZAGA!!

djKENTO

If Thomas Crown Affair wins you gotta do both versions with Carly. She’s gonna love them.

Biggman83

Midway and Tora Tora Tora in one bracket?!?

Mike LL

I've been a huge NC State fan my whole life! Go Wolfpack! Seeing them win the game last night in convincing fashion, and seeing so many expert's brackets get broken was very satisfying. Too bad I have to work tomorrow during State's game, and during Cassie's live! I'm heartbroken, but there was no way I could have foreseen I would need tomorrow off! Play on, and have fun everyone! I am!

Chicago Artist Jon

Looks like we’re gonna be watching Rounders. Go Clones!

Shadow Queen

Drat, a couple of my favourites in Drama/Romance have been knocked out already 😔 well at least the comedy bracket is looking strong so far!

Mike LL

It's the War brackett, so yeah. That was a fun thing to do, seed the war movies together, just like the teams are.

Uncle Phoenix

Woohoo. Wonder Woman defeated Leon. I am a little disappointed that TORO TORO TORO beat STRIPES.

Eric Wallace

Such a fun cool way to do things

Biggman83

I meant it as it’s the same film facing off against one another

Zane From Canada

This was a good idea pairing movies with basketball teams. I don't follow college basketball so this is a helpful way for me, personally, to relate to the material. Some upsets but there are still a few teams/picks that made it through the first round. 😁

John

Oakland ruined everybody's bracket, lol

Neil Varma

I’m 53rd place

Liam K

Cmon Hot Fuzz 🙏🏻

Mike LL

I just did post a comment on the Discord saying that this whole teams/movies competition is very confusing until after the first weekend. After this weekend, there will only be 16 teams/movies left, and it will be far easier to focus on the remaining survivors.

William Bryan

Is War of the Worlds the 2005 version?

Mike LL

I gotcha! That's fate, and the way the ball bounces and all that!

Pickupthepieces76

War bracket is a massacre. Apt I guess. Lost some great ones. Downfall and Deer Hunter would have been my picks.

Graeme Edgeler

Tora, Tora, Tora would be a great vid for Pearl Harbor Day. I'm just disappointed The Longest Day didn't get drawn, with Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan already done, it would have been a great pick for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day this year.

Carmen Mclaren

Thanks to Cassie's creativity, this is the 1st time in my life I have ever paid attention to March Madness! So, here's hoping New Mexico or Alabama wins so Cassie can react to Blazing Saddles or Smokey and the Bandit!

John

Regular bracket that is, not the movie one

nick bell

So many tough losses. Movies...not teams.

Ian A

I'm pretty excited with the winners so far...except the 12 monkeys loss..that hurt a little.

Patrick Reynolds

Rooting for Illinois/Thomas Crown Affair. But which TCA film. The original one starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway filmed in (1968)? Or the one starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo (1999)? I love the 1999 one, but I have never seen the 1968 version.

JimJames

Go Tennessee (For movie bracket purposes)!

ArsTropica

Big Trouble has to be one of Cassie's top 5 weirdest film reactions. Can't wait to witness her discombobulation. 😄

Johnny

Tora Tora Tora is such a great war movie - would be nice to see it go all the way.

Andreas Köther

I’m from Germany, so I have no idea which team is good or bad here. But boo the team that represented Arizona Junior!!! BOOO!

Brian McGovern

Quite fortunate I would say. Stripes, a war movie? I love the movie, but really, it does not know what it wants to be. It is like Full Metal Jacket turned into a comedy.

Clay F

Rooting for: --"Lost in Translation" (or "An Officer and a Gentleman") in the Drama/Romance region. --"Uncle Buck" or "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" in the Comedy region. --"Children of Men" or "2001: A Space Odyssey" in the Action/Adventure region. I also like "Wonder Woman" but I don't see Oakland making it to the Final Four. --APOCALYPSE NOW in the War regional. C'mon Purdue (No. 1 seed in that region). My main focus is: [1] Apocalypse Now (1979) [which has a decent chance] and [2] Lost in Translation (2003) [yet, I don't see Washington St winning all three games -- Iowa St, likely Illinois, and likely UConn]. If Apocalypse Now (1979) wins the war bracket, that would be awesome. I think Cassie will find more tolerable than FMJ. No boot camp, and more back story on characters in AN.

William Brownlee

I can only say one thing, I think I have the best anti-bracket. That is one where all the teams you picked to win lose. Lol I am an Alabama fan, but I thought Kentucky and Auburn could both win a couple of games and both lost to much lower seeds. My SEC teams are just playing awful. Now I am just pulling for someone who likes classic movies to win. Lol

Shawn Kildal

I hope your favorite movies aren't attached to SEC schools.

Jason Dolan

I'll be shocked if we don't watch MR HOLLAND'S OPUS

Mike Lemon

I'm still working on my bracket. I'll be sure to submit it right around April 8. I have a feeling I'm going to do pretty good. (fingers crossed)

Shawn Kildal

I'm a die hard Tarheels fan but I won't be mad if UConn (Mr. Holland's Opus) wins.

Maria Soberanis

Dang panic room and frequency! Sad

Steven Hodges

Am I missing something or did S Carolina win their game but have been eliminated???????

Katie Jackson

Yale just beat Auburn. The DaVinci Code moves forward

Terry Yelmene

I believe Cassie and Carly are going to love ‘Mr. Holland’s Opus’ as the best tribute to teachers ever and one of best Richard Dreyfus movies! I really think UConn is winning this thing.

Dylan Harris

Hot fuzz and Face off would be great

Delia P

The Da Vinci Code is the only film I'm interested in on that bracket so glad it's moving forward.

Rob Harris

Didn't Thin Red Line beat 3 Kings by 16 points and yet is out???

Keith Jones

Bloodbath...chaotic bloodbath

J. Allen Hynek

Oddly enough I was rooting for Close Encounters...#3 on Most req so maybe soon I'll get my wish!

Story Archer

I'm rooting so hard for Illinois/Thomas Crown Affair... I like the movie just fine, but you two ladies will absolutely LOVE it. I also want to see the other #3 seed win - Midnight Run is a guilty pleasure, but I think you two will really enjoy the 'odd-couple' aspect of it.

Rob Florie

LOOK AT HOW THEY MASSACRED MY BOY

Damon

My biggest heartbreak in my personal sports history is when, in 1983, my University of Houston Cougars lost to your Wolfpack at the buzzer. My heart still hurts to this day every time I see that highlight (lowlight) during the tournament. lol

Damon

The number 1 seeds in each section is the best team on down to the 16th team.

Damon

My hopes for bracket winners: Training Day or Mr. Holland's Opus, Raising Arizona or Uncle Buck, Jack Reacher or Ready Player One, Tears of the Sun. GO U of Houston Coogs!!!

Mike LL

I can personally feel your pain because my Wolfpack has very rarely felt the highs of the sports world since that historic game. In fact we have been lost in the wilderness for many years, including this one, until last week, lol. How ironic that the two of us, on opposite sides so many years ago, should meet in this community. Have hope, your team certainly has a better chance for success this year than mine!

Robert

I would love her to watch Lost in Translation, and, since I'm currently in Seattle, there's another reason to root for the boys from Gonzaga. Also hoping my alma mater in So. Cal does well, too; however, I'm not too interested in Training Day.

Korny

Iowa State and Baylor are the movies I’m rooting for.

YodatheHobbit

I'm not a sports fan, even less of a collage sports fan, so for once I get to be PROUD of my San Diego St. hometown doing something cool, being paired with Training Day! Woo!

Johnny

I lived in San Diego for 20 years, so I was happy to see them paired with Training Day, too! Would be nice to see them win and get a great movie to go with it.

Dasypodidae

What a fun and original idea!

David Collins

Mr. Hollands Opus is a marvelous gem. I have no horse in the tourney race, so I'm all in for UCONN.

Zachary K.

Man I tell you all this madness, Movie Madness March Madness, Watching the Women's Tournament, I could sure use a coffee break.... https://youtu.be/0qrF5u6qwrw?si=DV_NpMxjBNBp7qhk

Rose

Lusia “Lucy” Harris - “The Queen of Basketball” would be a great documentary short film for Women’s History Month. She was one of the women’s professional basketball pioneers and she was also the first and only woman officially drafted by the NBA. First woman to score in women’s basketball at the Olympics, too, among other first to her name … she was an incredible human being.

Damon

Yes, ever since that fateful year, both of our teams have struggled mightily and haven't had any real success for decades. It's good to meet and converse with like-minded folks that, no matter the circumstances, can still find common ground. Thanks for bringing us together, Cassie! lol

Seymor Butz

Always a bridesmaid never a bride! One day you will watch FREQUENCY and love it!!!

Seymor Butz

I would challenge the statement of best tribute to a teacher with the 1939 "goodbye Mr Chips".

Richard Maurer

When you're done would you mind if I copied it? I still haven't started mine yet.

Dan M

UConn/Mr Hollands Opus make it through round one! Our wait to see Cassie And Carly’s reaction to this movie may soon be over! GO HUSKIES!

Dan M

My thoughts exactly. Now that my daughter is at Penn State I follow college football. But up until Cassie’s idea, I had no interest in following college basketball. This was a great way of combining sports and movies.

Katie Jackson

I'm betting it's gonna be UConn/Mr. Holland's Opus vs. Houston/Ready Player One for the final match up.

Dan M

So far I’d say I’m doing pretty well. Some of my favorites have made it through the first round (Uncle Buck, Midnight Run, Monty Python, War of the Worlds), and I’ve had some tough losses (Stripes, Casino, Tin Cup, Gettysburg). But Mr Holland’s Opus/UConn, my number one seeds, are moving forward! So excited! This was really a great idea, Cassie! Perhaps we can do this again with other sports…baseball and the post season would be my personal pick.

Dan M

I don’t follow college basketball, but I went with UConn/Mr Holland’s Opus vs. Duke/Total Recall. Just went with my gut. But I’ll be happy with either match up as long as Mr. Holland’s Opus goes the distance. 🤞🤞🤞

Mike Lemon

Sure. I used to get a dollar a page to copy, with inflation that shouldn't be more than a few thousand today.

Richard Rolen

I'm torn here... I'd love for Cassie to watch "The DaVinci Code", but I'm pretty sure that the movie SHE would enjoy the most out of all 4 groups is "An Officer And A Gentleman". I'd also love to see her reaction to "Tears Of The Sun" even though it's a hard watch. It may be Bruce Willis' best acting in any film. Most of all though, I have to hope Vermont loses. Cassie would absolutely HATE "Starship Troopers"! It's great to challenge her and all, but that one would just be torture for her!

Matthew Folz

Now I'm REALLY Torn. Do I root for UConn to win it all so I win my bracket pool and have bragging rights over my friends? Or do I root for Iowa State to win so Cassie FINALLY does a video on Rounders? Also this is a really fun idea, kudos to you Cassie.

Junior

Wow. I just looked at the list. Some of my all time favorites. You can’t go wrong. But I’ve got to root for my alma mater — GO UCONN!

Clay F

No. 11. Oregon / Three Kings vs. No 3. Creighton / A Bridge Too Far is now in OT. Edit: Creighton won.

Kyle

Considering the amount of movies and tv shows I (and others of course) have bought just to watch along with the reactions people do the copyright holders should be thankful movie/tv reactions channels are so popular.

Korny

Sideways and Leaving Las Vegas deserve reactions.

Richard Maurer

The movie studios are corporations, and corporations are run by close minded people without the ability to see beyond their greedy simplistic view that someone is making money off their product in a way they didn't think of themselves, therefore it must be bad and must be stopped. Never underestimate the greed and idiocy of the corpo mind.

2-Can

For each team Creighton beats, that round will have been A Bridge Too Far.

2-Can

So with 5.Gonzaga beating 4.Kansas, the team of Tora Tora Tora beats the team of Midway. History disagrees (wait till next year?).

Pat Murray

Stripes was one of the movies you had to see during the three years I was stationed in HI.

Pat Murray

Which version of "The Thomas Crown Affair" is on the brackets? LOVE the original. Never saw the remake.

Pat Murray

I was stationed 3 times in Omaha, home of Creighton, over an 8 year period. It is a TINY school. I'm always shocked when they make it to the final 64, which they do quite often.

KauaiKeith

Remake (1999) of "The Thomas Crown Affair" is the one to watch!

Pat Murray

Going to U of Maryland during the Gary Williams era. NOT a Duke fan. Not happy today.

Pat Murray

I think I never watched it BECAUSE it is a remake. MOST aren't good.

CG Shunk

How can you have basketball tourney movies and not have Hoosiers as one of them?

Pat Murray

Until this tourney, I always thought GCU was an online college.

Uncle Phoenix

Come on Tennessee/TEARS OF THE SUN; beat Texas/ZULU

Marja

I have actively NOT cared about March Madness. Ever. And now I’ve printed out a bracket, filled in teams and movie titles, and tracked all games this weekend. Who am I?!?

Mike LL

That Alabama/Smokey And The Bandit pairing was just meant to be. GO PACK! #TeamofDestiny #whynotus?

N M

The NEWER Thomas Crowne Affair with Pierce Brosnan is the one that you want to watch — not the old one with Steve McQueen.

nick bell

Brutal

Gábor Árki

I'm happy to see there are still a few underrated movies in the game, which most certainly would have been voted out by now on a poll. I'm currently rooting for Marquette / The Rocketeer, Gonzaga / Tora Tora Tora and Creighton / A Bridge Too Far.

Mike LL

I also like how NC State's game against Marquette is a rematch of the 1974 National Championship possibly setting up a rematch of the 1983 National Championship game between NC State and Houston. Of course I am getting WAY ahead of myself and possibly upsetting some Duke, Houston, and Marquette fans, so I will see myself out. Thank you. GO PACK!

Julian G

North Carolina/Hot Fuzz has all my hopes.

Shehab Dawoud

It's always interesting as a European to reflect on the differences between sports here and in America. The passion Americans have for their school teams, even those that didn't actually attend that school, always surprises me. We don't have school sports here, but even if we did, it would pale in comparison to the passion we have for our professional clubs. My two cents aside, I'm definitely rooting for Purdue, as Apocalypse Now is by far the best film on and has been from the start.

Paul Browne

Come on Auburn, we need some mayonnaise.

Gábor Árki

Best pairing for sure. Wouldn't mind seeing Cassie's reaction to the moustache. 😄

Celeste McAllister

GO-BAMA! GO-CLEMSON! GO-ZAGA! GO-UCONN! GO-PIB!!! Save 'Tora Tora Tora' for December 7th 'Pearl Harbor day'...

James Forrest

The patrons on here have frigging amazing taste :) To see Total Recall, Tears Of The Sun, Apocalypse Now, Mr Hollands Opus, Training Day and Uncle Buck on the final list is awesome. To see Rounders on here was almost too much to ask :) Brilliant, all of you. Absolutely brilliant.

Justtired

At least my final four is still intact. It’s been a rough tourney for me.

Jon Johns

Hope you're resting Mrs Popcorn!!! Get better fast! We miss you 😭

Dan M

Oh man…I’m starting to slide down the leaderboard. But my Number 1 is still in it! As long UConn/Mr Holland’s Opus goes all the way I’ll be happy. And I’ve still got several other favorites in the running (Uncle Buck, War of the Worlds, Bill & Ted, Total Recall, The Rocketeer). Time to start biting the fingernails…Looney Tunes style.

Above Average Dave

I am in the odd predicament that I went to UConn and actually bleed Husky Blue so my interests are deeply vested here, Mr. Holland aside. 🤣

Jon Johns

We cheer for professional teams fervently, but there are too few to go around, so, regionally, folks cheer for more 'local' teams. Also, some of these university teams have larger stadiums than the pros! If you think about it more like relegated teams vs championship league teams, it might seem more reasonable?

Jon Johns

Man, Cassie should be happy to read this, it was her intention all along. 🤩

Neil Varma

Hot fuzz! And apocalypse now !

Dan M

Invasion of the Body Snatchers 😂 That’s why this idea was so great. It made followers of a lot of people that otherwise would not have cared about March Madness…me included. I’m just enjoying the ride.

JohnnyRico

So bummed that starship troopers got beat game 1 lol

WazWorld

Let’s go Uncle Buck! Bear Down!!!!

Jon Johns

It's not a basketball movie poll. These were picked from the top 100 most requested movies (have you voted? The link is in the pinned FAQ post) also, like Mr. Lemon said, she's already seen it. There is a link to her already seen movies (letterboxd) on the FAQ too. AND was a basketball movie poll which ended recently, White Men Can't Jump won.

Cole Jennett

I’m pulling hardest for Bill & Ted and Rounders, but most of the movies remaining are pretty good.

Devon Caitlin

I'm pulling for Hot Fuzz, Training Day, Ready Player One, and Tears of the Sun Final Four

Jon Johns

Korny, all the movies on this bracket are from the top 100 most requested films on Patreon. She will watch them all. Be sure to up vote your favs, the link to the request page is in the pinned FAQ.

2-Can

Finally - a manageably-sized table!

Carmen Mclaren

Alabama/Smokey and the Bandit are still in it....YES!!

Ria Grix

Don’t know about the teams, but some fine movies in there. Hot Fuzz! Yay, finally one of the Corneto trilogy has a chance. Thomas Crown, just because Steve McQueen is the coolest. John Candy at his finest in Uncle Buck. Ready Player One with its reference-a-rama.

Zachary K.

Although I am more interested in the women's tournament then the men's. I know every national championship in men's tournament since 1965. Since 1975 which ended the UCLA dynasty with UCLA's win over Kentucky there have been only two back to back winners. Duke in 1991-92 and Florida 2006-2007. Georgetown from the Big East with Patrick Ewing came close but got beat by Villanova . In 1985 UCONN has there share of championships 5 since 1999, but never back to back. Going by years the ACC is due for a national championship but not overdue. The last one coming in 2019 with Virginia. What I am saying is history is on North Carolina's side not UConn's. The Big Ten is the worst at this tournament the last team to win it was Michigan St, in 2000. Nothing but losers since then 2002 Indiana, 2005 Illinois, 2007 Ohio State, 2009 Michigan St. 2013 Michigan, 2015 Wisconsin, 2018 Michigan. The last time Purdue came close was in 1969 when they lost to UCLA, in the Natty.

Shehab Dawoud

That's a decent comparison. Though I would say that even supporting smaller teams in, say, Futbol, there's so much history, tradition, and sometimes even politics involved. And those things are passed down through generations. I don't know if it's on that scale with College sports. It would also be weird for me to properly support a College team knowing the best players would be gone after a year or two. If I went to that school and played for that team, it might be different. But again, cultural differences. It's definitely interesting.

Pat Murray

Creighton for two reasons. I was stationed in Omaha 3 times, Creighton's hometown and "A Bridge Too Far" is a great flick.

DAVID COSTELLO

Which Thomas Crown Affair?

Marja

Not gonna lie, I’m sure I’m sublimating my sadness over the bleak Warriors season with false excitement over March Madness! Reminds me of my tenure in a fantasy football league with NO clue whatsoever as to what I was doing! 🤣🏈🎱

Marja

I’ve never seen either (which isn’t like me) but if druthers were being handed out, I’d go with Steve McQueen seven days a week and twice on Sunday. Sidebar: has anyone seen The Tao of Steve? Charming little 2000 indie comedy. I’ll say no more!

Paul Cox

That's definitely a graphic for the original, but elsewhere in the thread it's been said the remake is actually the one in contention.

J. Allen Hynek

I think Cassie would enjoy this flick, especially the love story, Fred the dog and maybe even the car chases, but I doubt that she, unlike many others, would go ga-ga over Burt Reynolds..he is just not her type!

Marja

I feel ZERO guilt watching Midnight Run and the duo “I didn’t know I needed”! Have been loving it for a long, long, long, long time!!

DAVID COSTELLO

I'm torn because the remake has a love story she'll like more, but she likes Steve McQueen. I personally like the remake better.

Mike LL

or one of those teams from North Carolina! 😂 GO PACK! #whynotus?

Zachary K.

The Wolfpack won it in 1983 on one of the most craziest endings ever https://youtu.be/GfYb-JTmJs4?si=dAjDaU7stoFxfLXA

Blake Evans

Several upsets there, but really hoping for Mr Holland's Opus for my own personal history, as well as Rounders. Both are great and very different films.

John Liebling

Cassie, I know you're not feeling well. The best antidote for pain, is laughter. Not for your channel, but for your personal use, on youtube check take look at a blast from the past, when Lenard Nimoy was still healthy, I'd guess it is 2009...that's when the Chris Pine reboot Star Trek came out. So, search for on youtube: The Funniest Star Trek Convention of All Time (Kirk and Spock) Clearly in real life, at least at that moment Shatner and Nimoy are very good friends. You can also see the different personalities. At the time of that convention, they'd been friends for over 40 years.

John Liebling

There is also a series of interviews I think you and Carly would enjoy. Maybe watch with your dad. On youtube: A conversation with Jimmy Doohan, Star Trek's Scotty (1994) By the way, 1994 is the year the Next Generation went off the air and they started to produce the next 4 movies.

John Liebling

More on Youtube: A conversation with Deforest Kelly, Star Trek's Dr. McCoy (1994) Gene Roddenberry passed away four years earlier and Deforest would pass away 5 years after that interview.

John Liebling

Youtube: A conversation with Walter Koenig, Star Trek's Chekov (1994) He's one of the three original star trek actors still alive.

John Liebling

Youtube: A conversation with George Takei, Star Trek's Sulu (1994) He's also one of the three original star trek actors still alive and continues to harbor ill feelings towards Shatner - a grudge that's last almost 60 years.

Kevin Hooper

My wagon is hitched to Tears of the Sun. Go Tennessee!

J. Allen Hynek

In the interest of letting Cassie rest could impose upon you as i know you are like Cassie's right hand man. When I would sign in to see the weekly "Upcoming" posts there was a kind of welcome page where the do's and don't where listed that also told you how to request a movie. I can not find it now, have I just lost the plot or did it get moved? Thanks Jon

Bryan Erickson

Holland’s Opus as #1 seed has conspiracy written all over it.

Tringard

Pulling for my school more than usual (Uncle Buck), but all of these are solid options now.

Jon Johns

Hey there, I am but one of many helper bees buzzing around the hive 😂 but glad to help. There is a "FAQ" post near the top of the feed on PiB's Patreon. It should be pinned right at the top. If that doesn't have the details you need, pop in a reply to me here with your question, and I'll find an answer for you 😉

Ronny Boss

As a resident of the great state of Tennessee I hope Tears of The Sun wins.

JRCortez

Cassie, do yourself a favor. DO NOT watch the Apocalypse Now extended edition, only because of added “middle section”. Boring beyond belief!

JL_83

Tears of the Sun would make for a powerful reaction, so have to root for this one

John Liebling

I agree, with all due sarcasm...it's because Cassie went back in time and made it possible for Patrick Ewing to become the #1 pick for New York Knicks - and the rest is Herstory.

Mike LL

Jon Johns, what she is saying is that the FAQ post always pinned at the top has been replaced by THIS March Madness post, which is the top pinned post currently. I suspect that when this tournament is over on April 8 that the FAQ pinned post will return to the top spot again.

Shehab Dawoud

You mean the French plantation? I always thought that was interesting and added something, as the French involvement in Vietnam is often forgotten. There's also the symbolism of the journey up the river also being a journey through time. But I'm a History teacher, so I love stuff like that. I understand why it would be insignificant to her.

Dave

The graphic has been corrected to show the correct version, base on the app. The remake with Pierce Brosnan is the version in play

Pat Murray

Never heard of it. My late sister, she was 8 years older than me, LOVED Steve. It seemed like when I was a kid there was always a Steve movie on.

Dan M

Ugh! Fantasy leagues confuse the hell out of me. My friend asked me to join with him one time and I was completely lost. I’ll just enjoy sports the old fashioned way…either playing them or enjoying a few hours as arm chair manager.

Carol_White

Hard agree. "Apocalypse Now Redux" adds nothing. Theatrical release plz.

JRCortez

I agree about the historical significance of the French in Vietnam. But this section is way too long. It could have been 3-5 minutes instead of 20.....

Graeme Edgeler

80th anniversary of Operation Market Garden is in September, so I'm hoping for A Bridge Too Far.

Yaisu

Hope you're ready to watch Apocalypse Now

Carmen Mclaren

You guys really show exactly how great a team there is at PIB supporting Cassie!

John Casamassa

Glad to see that Total Recall and The Rocketeer are still in it!

Sam R.

This is really fun , I dont follow college ball but I'm rooting for Ready Player One

Not really many movies left I care about. I enjoy Smokey and the Bandit as a fun romp, but Alabama just doesn't have much of a chance. Get well soon.

My_Cousin_Mose

Rooting for Tears of the Sun, its my favorite war movie.

Rob

Go Illini and Thomas Crown Affair! Both versions of Thomas Crown are quite good.

Brian Wood

I hate Gettysburg didn't make, but still have 5 in the hunt, and hopefully Smokey and the Bandit will pull it off.

Marja

“Tao” may not be your cup of tea; it was a film festival darling almost 25 years ago and the themes were slyly funny and cool.

Pat Murray

When my boys were young, read a book called "The Tao of Pooh." Definitely not my bag.

rakeshldn

Ooo some good ones left in the running training date, rounders, the rocketter, total recall,

Carol Rocha

Mr.Holland’s Opus! Thomas Crowne Smokey & the Bandit Uncle Buck Tears of the Sun Doesn’t matter Doesn’t matter Total Recall but really doesn’t matter. 😊

I can never root for Alabama so I want the bottom of that bracket to win.

William Brownlee

Clemson beat Arizona. UCON beat SDSU.

William Brownlee

Alabama beat North Carolina 89 to 87. Bama plays Clemson next on Saturday.

William Brownlee

Who is your team. I went to Alabama when Bear Bryant was still there and grew up only about 40 miles from Tuscaloosa so I have been an Alabama fan my whole life. I know some bama fans can be a lot to handle. My brother when he was alive was a mean bama fan and didn't even go to college. Are you an Auburn fan or just don't like bama on general terms? Lol

Rod Reavern

I'm hoping the Final Four will be: Training Day Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Tora Tora Tora The Rocketeer Worthy alternates are: Hot Fuzz Total Recall Ready Player One Cassie and Carly watched Point Break so they'll probably enjoy Hot Fuzz. Total Recall is an Arnie '90s classic -- might be another good choice for Carly too. Ready Player One would be the culmination of watching so many popular movies from the past 40+ years -- it would be its own trivia game to test if Cassie catches all the references.

William Brownlee

NC State beat Marquette and. Purdue beat Gonzaga. 2 games left in the sweet 16.

Clay F

Training Day, Tora Tora Tora, The Rocketeer, Hot Fuzz, and Ready Player One are out. Bill & Ted and Total Recall are still in.

Samuel Champ

Houston losing just busted my bracket. :(

Clay F

The 4 reactions will be: Drama/Romance = Mister Hollands Opus or Thomas Crown Affair Comedy = Smokey & the Bandit or Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Action/Adventure = Total Recall or War of the Worlds War = Apocalypse Now or Tears of the Sun Elite 8 1. UConn/Mister Hollands Opus vs. 3. Illinois/Thomas Crown Affair 4. Alabama/Smokey & the Bandit vs. 6. Clemson/Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure 4. Duke/Total Recall vs. 11. NC State/War of the Worlds 1. Purdue/Apocalypse Now vs. 2. Tennessee/Tears of the Sun

Rod Reavern

Thanks for the update. I’m not a NCAA fan, so I only care about the movies. Hopefully Bill & Ted and Total Recall will win their brackets. I presume that Cassie will watch most of the movies on the bracket… eventually.

William Brownlee

Duke beat Houston and Tennessee beat Creighton.

Zachary K.

NC State, I said this on YouTube only one #11 seed as ever reached the final four and that was Loyola-Chicago in 2018. Which got beat my Michigan in the National Semifinals. This feels a lot like the 2014 tournament in that tournament UCONN was a #7 seed which took on the #8 seed Kentucky. Which UCONN made one of the most improbable runs in tournament history. UCONN Illinois game should be interesting. UCONN is the first National Champions to reach the elite eight the very next year since Florida 2006-2007.

Philip G.

Purdue will take it

Gábor Árki

Oh no. All the underdog movies I was cheering for are out. 🙁 So, go Alabama from here on and go Bandit!

William Bryan

OK catch me up how many movies from this will be watched?

Jack P

I'm a new user for patreon. Where can I find info about upcoming polls/trivia night?

William Brownlee

I'm a bama fan and still am scared they don't have much of a chance if they make the final 4. It looks like the opponent would probably be UConn and they seem to be playing the best of anyone. Not many movies left I care about either. Mr. Holland's Opus is nice, but just doesn't do much for me and I was a teacher. Lol

Mike Lemon

They are usually announced during the "update" post that usually happens on Tuesday. You will also get a notification (and email- I don't know if you have to elect that or not) when they happen. And note- the times she gives are Mountain Time.

Joe

Well, the Elite 8 is now set. Still a few movies I'm rooting for: War of the Worlds (2005), Tears of the Sun (2003), and The Thomas Crown Affair (1999). I'm hoping Cassie just reacts to all the films that make the final four, but she hasn't said what she will do yet.

Mike LL

Only the one movie represented by the national championship game winning team, unless Cassie can be convinced otherwise, as far as I know. But I could be wrong, what do I know?

Ross Cicero

DUKE DUKE THEY’RE OUR MAN IF THEY CAN’T DO IT NO ONE CAN!!!!

James Forrest

Cassie, you would benefit from doing most of these as the ones I've seen are all superb and some are in competition with others; Tears Of The Sun and Apocalpyse Now for example.

Mike LL

As I've said before I'm a huge NC State fan, but besides their success, this has been a very enjoyable tournament so far with some wildly entertaining games. I had to work during NC State's second round victory over Oakland, but I have managed to be off of work for the remaining days that the tournament games will be played, so I won't miss a game going forward. I'm not saying I'm expecting anything, but folks, NC State is real, and don't be surprised about how far they go. GO WOLFPACK! #whynotus?

Clint Condie

Go Bill and Ted!!! You will be loved!!

Wes

I hate myself for cheering for Duke 😩

Dan M

I’ve got 4 teams/movies in the Elite 8. I really didn’t think I’d be in this position, but I’m totally excited! Still have all of my hopes on UConn/Mr Holland’s Opus 🤞🤞🤞 March Madness…I never would have thought I’d ever be this into it!

Pickupthepieces76

Go Opus, Apo Now and Total Recall! (Comedy not really bothered)

Christopher Campbell

With the Rocketeer out I'm all in on Bill & Ted and Total Recall. Although Apocalypse Now winning would give me an excuse to finally watch my 4K Blu-ray.

Mike LL

I do have to say that Smokey and the Bandit, and Smokey and the Bandit II, are coming to Netflix on April 1. Maybe THAT is a sign? 😂

Joel Wayne

She hasn't said she is doing that yet....all we know for sure is she'll react to the overall winner.

N M

Thank you for changing the Thomas Crowne Affair to the newer version with Pierce Brosnan. You will LOVE it!!! I guarantee! ❤️

nick bell

Anything but Mr Hollands Opus.

thansen

Not such an elite eight. But War of the Worlds is a decent film. Except the son.

bruno di gradi

was so hoping for a Bridge Too Far not many reactions to that, pulling for Total Recall for the WTF factor :D

Tim Raths

UConn is probably going to repeat as champions because they haven’t played one competitive game yet in this tournament.

Zachary K.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure was good like a long time ago early 90's maybe? You want to see coming of age 90's movies similar to the Breakfast Club? Mallrats (1995) and Friday (1995) these movies I have seen them so many times I know them by heart. Both of coming of age moves

Paul Cox

Really only care about the Drama and Comedy side of the bracket. Pulling for UConn or Alabama to win it all.

Zachary K.

How does one achieve Greatness? https://youtu.be/9EOYDqXbEEY?si=POlHJuh5JDUwjnbx There is three teams that can beat UCONN first Tennessee can because of their guard play. Second NC State because they just keep winning. Last Purdue. While the Big Ten has only won two National Championships in the last 35 years and both hale from the state of Michigan. Purdue could pull a shocker. Nothing is set in stone many teams have tried to win back to back many have failed something Micheal Jordan and North Carolina couldn't even do.

Thomas Thompson

I don’t mean to be critical, but I will. You’ve been at this too long to be wasting time on second rate remakes of great movies.

Carmen Mclaren

Still rootin' for the Bandit / Alabama

Neil Varma

Cmon UConn, Alabama and Purdue

Marja

Pulling for Mr. Holland’s Opus and Apocalypse Now. One is a feel-good teacher story (right up my alley) and the other is a cinematic masterpiece with an equally intriguing backstory!

John Liebling

Mister Holland's Opus could not be more different compared to Training Days. And I still don't think Apocalypse Now is a movie for Cassie.

Just Plain Bob

Rooting for Tennessee since I’ve lived here my entire life and have been a fan for 45+ years, even though I don’t much care for “Tears of the Sun.” I’m fervently hoping that Illinois loses because the remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair” is hot garbage, with Rene Russo’s performance being particularly god-awful. Also rooting for Alabama because I think it’s the only way that Cassie ever watches “Smokey and the Bandit”, which is a shame because I think she’d love it (just ask Kaiielle how she liked it).

Ria Grix

Dammit!! Corneto Trilogy keeps missing the mark.

Troy Silvester

I do, though as a kid I really loved the Gene Barry original. Love the remake, and have watched it many times. Cassie love Tom Cruise for obvious reasons, so something tells me it will be winner, regardless!

Troy Silvester

Thomas, I'll bet your are talking about the Thomas Crown Affair right? Steve McQueen is great in anything!

Dean Holt

Sad to see Uncle Buck, Training Day & Hot Fuzz all go. But they are still a few excellent movies in the running. I’m hoping Bill & Ted or Total Recall gets the win.

jdj830

Mister Holland’s Opus (so you can get out that baton you used in Amadeus for another conducting picture); Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (you’ll love Keanu in this); Apocalypse Now (it’s as intense, heavy and long as movies get but you can take it at this point - watch the three hour Final Cut version released in 2019); and….I can’t in good conscience recommend either of the Action/Adventure movies. Watch Hoop Dreams instead, to remind yourself what’s really at stake in these games.

rakeshldn

Well this is unfortunate. Total Recall and War of the Worlds are favourites but i think they'll be up agsint each other.

jdj830

Yes I also wondered how those two movies ended up in the same category. Several months ago I also would have said that Apocalypse Now is an inappropriate movie for Cassie but I gave up thinking in those terms after she saw Kill Bill. At least in this movie the violence has a point.

Above Average Dave

Who had NC State getting to the 8? Not me, and I live in the Triangle(!)

Stick Figure Studios

Just FYI: if you do end up watching THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR (which I'm not opposed to as I think it's a good movie, though still inferior to the Steve McQueen / Faye Dunaway original), you might not want to watch it with Carly as there are some sex scenes that are surprisingly explicit in their nudity for a mainstream movie (even an R-rated one) that she could have difficulty with. It may star James bond, but it is not as relatively family-friendly as Bond movies tend to be.

John Casamassa

Just saw that The Rocketeer didn't make it. Damn! Been waiting to see that movie on this channel for years.

christopher b swanson

if anyone sees this, my only hope for thomas crown affair, which I've wanted for years is that either now or another time, please make it a cassie carly movie, I think it is a perfect movie to be seen by both.............

nick bell

Is Carly practicing to become a nun? Lol. Wait...is she? Jk

KTVindicare

Remember how the concern was that there wouldn't be any upsets? lol. Really disappointed in Creighton, North Carolina and Marquette but there's still a few movies in here that I'm very glad to still see alive. Hopefully UConn can go all the way.

William Brownlee

UConn has beaten Illinois. First team into the final four.

Matthew Folz

UConn is almost assuredly winning it all. But of all these teams left, rooting for Alabama because Smokey and the Bandit is AWESOME and I'd love to see Cassie's reaction to it.

Clay F

Apocalypse Now (#30 on the AFI Top 100) will be a good notch to have on her belt as she hones her craft as a reactor.

Tim Raths

It’s almost laughable at how much UConn is dominating in this tournament.

Matthew Folz

It is. Usually I'd feel bad for their opponents, but not tonight. My entire family (Both sides) were born in Wisconsin. My Mom and Uncle went to University of Wisconsin. Needless to say I was smiling ear to ear during that 30-0 run against Illinois tonight. :)

Clay F

I may be wrong, but I was thinking that 4 movies will be watched. Each regional (genre) winner. In other words, the movies of the 4 teams that go to the Final Four will be watched? She implies in this video at 3:35 she would watch each genre winner -- the Final Four. Not sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNf-I54epEs

William Brownlee

Watching the games so far it looks like Mr. Holland's Opus is the betting leader by a mile.

Zachary K.

You know Georgetown thought they had it all won too. They were going for back2back too In 1985 they went up against Villanova in the Natty a team they had beaten twice that year. And yet Villanova won it. One of the biggest upsets of all time. Well at least Caitlin Clark and Iowa won again. They are headed back to the Elite 8.

John Deardurff

Mister Hollands Opus (Uconn) is the best movie left. Thomas Crown Affair (Illinois) is an average heist movie. Smokey & the Bandit (Alabama) is a classic 70's movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (Clemson) is 80's Keanu cheese in a good way. Apocalypse Now (Purdue) is a boring overhyped 70's war movie. Tears of the Sun (Tennessee) is a bad depressing movie. Total Recall (Duke) is an 80's Arnold at his cheesy best. War of the Worlds (NC State) is an average Cruise Sci-Fi.

Clay F

I am pulling for Clemson (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure) over Alabama (Smokey & the Bandit), even though I am an SEC guy. Alabama is currently winning 35-32 at half time. I like Smokey & the Bandit. A classic that was part of our culture (I remember). Plus, has Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, and Jackie Gleason. But Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure is more my type of movie, and cool to see a young Keanu Reeves in that role.

Josh Phillips

So close with Tora Tora Tora… maybe we can make that a future Pearl Harbor Day reaction? 😁

Stick Figure Studios

I don't know, but it has been mentioned multiple times in previous reactions how sensitive Carly is about that (not that Cassie is exactly thrilled about that kind of content either, but it seems like she's somehow more able to deal with it then Carly is).

Stick Figure Studios

I actually think that the fairly explicit sex/nudity content would make it an uncomfortable watch for Carly.

Larry Darrell

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin' (Alabama A)-We gonna do what they say can't be done

David Collins

"Mr. Hollands Opus" is the biggest and brightest gem of the entire field, hands down. It's got zero chance of ever winning a poll so I'm excited that it got attached to the team most likely to win the whole thing. First time in my life I've ever been a Uconn fan.

Story Archer

Of all the movies left, I'm confidant in saying that you and Carli would enjoy the Thomas Crown Affair most. People forget that just because a movie is THEIR favorite, that doesn't mean it's going to be your favorite - that kind of thinking is how we ended up with Big Trouble in Little China.

Story Archer

Of all the movies left, The Thomas Crowne Affair is far and away the movie that Cassie and Carli would enjoy the most. Concerns over sex/nudity are unfounded, the movie is practically PG.

Story Archer

Agreed. Of the movies left, The Thomas Crown Affair is far and away the film that Cassie and Carli would have enjoyed most.

William Brownlee

I was hoping for Miracle as the kurt Russell poll winner. Not a great movie, but a great story. Hard to capture the feeling in the whole country when the USA was playing those games.

William Brownlee

Nice for the players and coaches to be the first group at Alabama to make it to the final four in the history of the school.

YodatheHobbit

As often happens, it ends up being movies I've either never seen (Mr Holands Opus), seen too many times to look forward to a reaction that much (Bill and Ted), or saw once and remember only being bored by as a kid (Thomas Crown Affair) that end up winning.

John Liebling

Well, just because she got through one, or rather two, doesn't mean she'll enjoy Apocalypse, she'll put on a brave face, and get through it, but I don't think it will be an experience she'll enjoy.

John Liebling

Tom Cruise in Born on the Fourth of July will be plenty emotional for Cassie, if she decides to watch it in a later this year and it will be an interesting mix if she watches 1776, Pride of the Yankees - Cassie like true stories and sports stories, she'll enjoy the life story of Lou Gehrig, and the musical - I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy, and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - Staring Jimmy Stewart, she's always like Jimmy Stewart movies; hopefully she'll tackle all during the first two weeks of July.

David Collins

This movie is going to skyrocket to the top of Cassie's favorite movie lists. With any luck, it will result in some more Richard Dreyfus movies too. Like "Always", I hope.

Brent Mac

Good selection

Marja

Coming of age to me means Breaking Away. It’s not “my” story but it’s so full of charm, it’s ridiculous! Plus, Jackie Earle Haley.

Richard Rolen

Tennesee/Tears Of The Sun

jdj830

I would love for her to see The Killing Fields. And in terms of Vietnam era movies I would love to see her take on Hair. I definitely agree about Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and think she would also enjoy You Can't Take it With You, another Jimmy Stewart classic.

nick bell

If Cassie only watched movies she knew beforehand she'd enjoy, her channel probably wouldn't be doing as well. And she has said that she never watches anything she doesn't want to watch. So let's trust her to do her thing.

John Sullivan

I know we bros from the 80s have fond memories of Bill & Ted - but idk if that's her style

Odd Thomas

WAR OF THE WORLDS

Dan M

Happy Easter Cassie, Carly, and the entire PIB community! Hope everybunny has an eggs-cellent holiday!

Above Average Dave

As a lifetime UConn fan, the only team that made me nervous before the tournament is Purdue. Still does, although if the refs actually call fouls, Edny will be out of the game in 5 minutes. GO HUSKIES!!

Above Average Dave

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL Y'ALL (who celebrate)!!!

Matthew Folz

I seriously want a prop bet where I can bet every dollar I have on Edey playing in Europe in 3 years. (I saw one mock draft that had the Bucks drafting him and I wanted to absolutely scream.) The fact that he's going to be back to back National Player of the Year is a sad sad joke.

Matthew Folz

Happy Easter to All Ya'll. A community where I can discuss sports and movies with some cool people and watch my favorite movies with 2 beautiful women. What can be better?

Zane From Canada

I never officially picked my bracket, but I'm happy to see that 5 of my teams/movie picks made it to the Final 8. Again, a very helpful way to relate to this material. 😁 Exactly how many movies will be chosen at the end: Four, two, or will there be only one? 😁

William Brownlee

Purdue just beat Tennessee. Duke vs North Carolina State is next.

Just Plain Bob

As a lifelong fan of the Vols, I’m sad to see them go. On the upside, “Tears of the Sun” is an absolutely terrible movie (it took me several tries to get thru it without falling asleep or changing to something else out of sheer boredom and I don’t remember a single frame of the movie several years later) while “Apocalypse Now” is one of the all-time great war movies (it’s on my short list of movies that I watch when it comes on tv, even though I own the blu ray). PS: Rooting for Duke/Total Recall, for the sole reason that I like Total Recall far more than Spielberg’s version of War of the Worlds. I’m hoping that Cassie decides to watch all four of the Final Four movies.

Mike LL

Down to the Final Five! GO WOLFPACK (War of the Worlds)!

Zachary K.

The last time Purdue was in the Final Four I was 7 months old. The last time they were in the Natty. Sharon Tate was still alive.

rtt143

Mr Hollands

William Brownlee

North Carolina State beats Duke. Final four is complete.

Mike LL

So we have our Final Four! Thank you, Cassie, for picking such a great movie, War of the Worlds, for my NC STATE WOLFPACK! GO STATE! Maybe, maybe, Cassie will be watching a Tom Cruise movie in the next few weeks! #whynotus?

Story Archer

That would have been good too. The ladies love an inspiring sports movie and they're certainly familiar with hockey...

Mike LL

unknown at this time. We can only hope. When I said "we have our Final Four" I admit I was talking about the teams, and the movies are only incidental. I'm much more excited as a college basketball fan and an NC State fan about the games than the movies. 😂

TwistedMagoo

Man, let's go NC State!

jdj830

Sad about the Comedy outcome; I really do think Cassie would have liked Bill & Ted. And I admit I’ve never seen War of the Worlds and ashamed to admit that I HAVE seen Total Recall.

Clay F

The four winners are: Mister Hollands Opus (UConn) Apocalypse Now (Purdue) Smokey & the Bandit (Alabama) War of the Worlds (NC State)

Clay F

I think she implied (see video link at 3:35) that she will watch all 4 (the winner of each genre), but not sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNf-I54epEs&t=222s

Joseph Marshall

Total Recall is ICONIC. I don't know if it would be Cassie's cup of tea, but that movie is a bonafide classic.

Clay F

I think she implied (see video link at 3:35) that she will watch all 4 (the winner of each genre), but not sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNf-I54epEs&t=222s

Brian McGovern

Out of these 4, the only one I think Cassie will love is Opus. Have not seen Smokey, although I think she may like that. For some reason I was thinking of Best LittlecWhorehouse in Texas. Think she will hate Apocalypse Now and may not love WOTW.

Grad

I have mentioned this before but... I think it makes some sense to watch the 1953 version of War of the Worlds before the 2005 version. Makes for a fun comparison. But I understand if it's difficult to fit into the schedule.

Sergio H

So your watching all Final Four finalist?

Neil Varma

It’s Smokey and the bandit, apocalypse now, Mr hollands opus, and war of the worlds as our final four. A fine selection of films !!

Cliff Endicott

When the bracket went up, the movie I most wanted to win was "Mr. Holland's Opus". Now I think there's a chance it may actually win....

D. T. Nelson

I got up to 4th place in the bracket, then Tennessee flubbled it. Maybe if I knew or cared about college basketball I might have had a better system for choosing winning teams than random selection. But, alas, I know movies, not basketball.

Ike

Come on Alabama, Tennessee, and North Cakalacka State

Mike LL

Ha Ha (North Cakalacka resident here. We say that alot. 😂)

Joe

Now that the Final Four is set, I would like Cassie to react to all 4 movies.

Mike Lemon

Since everything I root for loses, let's go Purdue!

William Brownlee

Don't think Alabama has much of a chance against UConn, but I would like to see Cassie react to Smokey and the Bandit. It is just a fun, silly movie. Jackie Gleason steals the movie in a lot if ways. It is a shame that m ost people only know him from this movie and not his TV show or his great show, The Honeymooners.

Shin Yeji

Soooooo, so hoping for Mr. Holland's Opus. It's a precious gem that gets me thinking about so many different aspects of life.

Carmen Mclaren

Still holding out hopes for Smokey and the Bandit / Alabama 🤞

Larry Darrell

Lots of talk about watching All 4. I’m liking this. Hoping it’s true. :-)

Marja

Do you mean the remake? Cuz the OG is equal parts intriguing and hokey (of its time, though). And I never want to pass on a film with Ronny Cox!

Jason Fulbright

OPUS and SMOKEY, some one has to loose, many have to cry. I'm leaning Bama just because it might be the only way to see Cassie experience Beauford T Justice.

Carol Rocha

Mr Holland’s Opus!

René Ferland

I like all four movies. It'll be fun to know who will win in the end. But I think all of them are worth watching.

Zachary K.

It's hard to believe that just 25 years ago UCONN changed the course of the entire program in 13 seconds. In one of the most incredible plays in tournament history. https://youtu.be/HxoXNow2ORM?si=sp27DMoWSwH9fjZW It was this that led them to "Shocking the World" in 1999 by beating Duke which no one expected. Everyone said they couldn't do it. Then in 2004 the beat Georgia Tech to win their second title Then the most improbable run in 2011 with Kemba Walker and that incredible 11 game run. Then in 2014 with second year head coach. Kevin Ollie which they were led by Shabazz Napier and they were a #7 seed and beat #8 seeded Kentucky. Kentucky hasn't been back to the Natty since.

Annie519

Mr. Holland's Opus is so underrated! And I'm pretty sure there are no movie reactions to it, so you would be the first.

Michael Mittleman

Cassie. There’s a movie out there waiting for you. You have to watch Sicario with Emily Blunt and Benecio del Toro. Best thriller about the fight against the Mexican drug cartels ever made.

Joshua s. Jackson

How does Mr. Holland's Opus beat Training Day? I call shenanigans.

Shawn Kildal

Super curious if Cassie is only watching the winner, or perhaps the final 2, or the entire final 4 since each category represents a winner. My guess is the final 2, but I have no idea.

René Ferland

There are a few reactions (I know of three). It's my personal favourite of the final four and I am pretty confident Cassie would love it. :-)

Matt Atkinson

Watch all 4 of these movies

Zachary K.

Ted Lasso cheering on Iowa's Caitlin Clark https://youtu.be/RmzQPojGjqA?si=pB6VM8nGnRf5WCsw

David Patterson

I hope she watches all 4, but I'm still pulling for UConn.

John Casamassa

Yeah. There are so many movies that I would love to see reactions to on this channel that I know, deep down, will never happen.

Mike Smith

Oh boy, Apocalypse Now is a tough watch.

John Liebling

Zach Edey the star seven-foot four center from Purdue is from Toronto Canada...I still hope to watch Mr. Holland's Opus.

Robin T

Or just watch the 53 version and stop... (I'm genuinely baffled by the apparent love for Spielberg's version, it's one of his biggest misfires)

JRCortez

As most war movies are. As long as she stays away from the extended edition, she's ok.....

David Collins

The way UConn has playing, it's practically a shoe in - although anything can happen. Purdue's Zach Edey is a problem for most people but UConn has the size to deal with him so I am very optimistic.

David Collins

I remember that 1998 finish like it was yesterday. Seemed like the clock slowed down at the end, that ball batted and bopped around for what seemed like forever before Rip got that final fall away look up.

David Collins

Nobody knows about it, which is terribly sad. It flew way under the radar - the name doesn't make one think "must see" and it didn't get heavily promoted. It deserved awards.

David Collins

I don't know if she'll hate it exactly but I don't see her ranking it very high when it comes to movie ranking time. I can appreciate the movie for the most part, but I am not a huge fan - I can take it or leave it. But I'll watch it again for sure if she does. And I generally love war movies.

David Collins

Caitlin went BEAST mode Monday night. I feel sorry for anyone who missed that game!

Zachary K.

I had no idea she had a dog named Bella? I wonder who watches her dog when she is away?

David Collins

That's a great question because her family attends every game! I think she and Kate Martin room together off campus and I'll bet they have roommates who aren't on the team - perhaps one of them, I would guess.

David Collins

UConn has a 7 footer who can probably slow Edey down a bit so I'm optimistic.

Zachary K.

Wow The Iowa-LSU game on Monday night averaged 12.4 million viewers at it peak 16 million viewers. It was the highest rated game on ESPN men's or women's ever. It got higher ratings then the NBA Finals, The Worlds Series most college football games with the exception of Michigan-Ohio State, SEC championship. Higher ratings then every major league game last season. Women's basketball is more exciting, more fun than watching UCONN men win by 30.

Above Average Dave

UConn Men (proud alum here) has won 5 men's NCAA Championships since 1999. That's two more than the next closest teams with 3 (UNC and Duke) in that period. And with 3 different coaches and completely different team structures and systems for all of them.

Zachary K.

You should be proud, heck I would be. There runs in 2011 and 2014 were nothing short of remarkable. Then to go through all that crap with the NCAA sanctions, firing that coach which they had every right to do. Then to come back from all of that and be on the verge of back to back Nattys. That's impressive you look at the last two back2back champions Florida and Duke neither one had to fight there way through the crap that that UCONN did. The stars that they have produced Richard Hamilton, Kemba Walker e.tc. I didn't think they were going to do it but honestly crunching the numbers. Purdue has the best shot but honestly, if UCONN plays Purdue it won't be close. I mean anything can happen but Alabama doesn't have the size to compete with UCONN. Purdue comes from a conference that hasn't won a Natty since Michigan St. did it 2000 and Michigan in 1989. The last time Purdue was in the Natty was 1969 when the got beat by UCLA.

David Collins

Tomorrow (Friday) night's Iowa vs UConn numbers will probably eclipse the Iowa vs. LSU numbers too. Clark vs Bueckers is a compelling matchup. If Iowa beats UConn tomorrow, the finale numbers will be a new record for sure, especially if USCe holds serve in the first game tomorrow night. As a long time fan of the women's game as well as the men's, it's really nice to see the viewership numbers for the ladies. They put every bit as much time and effort into their craft as the men do.

Chuck Schuldiner

Uhh sooo many good movies that won't be seen now. Total Recall, Hot Fuzz, Midnight Run, Casino, No Country for Old Men, Leon the Professional and Face/Off. Ever since Total Recall lost have to admit I lost interest in who's going to win

Paul Cox

I think she's in this for the long haul. Most or all of these will eventually get reacted to.

Colin Davis

Mr. Holland's Opus is such a beautiful movie.

Carol Rocha

I do believe that as well ; that she will eventually get to these others.

Pat Murray

Could be "Apocalypse Now "

Mike LL

Congrats to the Purdue Apocalyse Nows! I'm so proud of the NC State Wolfpack (War of the Worlds). Can't be upset with the Pack because no one expected them to be in the Final Four.

Iowa- UCONN game last night drew 14.2 million people, the last time the NBA was that high was 2022. Last year's Men's Natty got 14.7 and that's on a prime network. This wasn't even the women's championship game and this was on cable network just think what it's going be like tomorrow for South Carolina-Iowa championship game on ABC. Business is booming for women's basketball. At this rate women's basketball will over take men's if not this year then by next year. If only...... To bad there wasn't a women's bracket on here. 🤔 Kind of puzzling. The last time Purdue made the title game...... 1969 there was no shot clock and no three point line. https://youtu.be/ZAR5hXfBCuo?si=6JZcCEYDj95SpcT6

I really don’t think Cassie is going to enjoy Apocalypse Now

Matt

Hi, new patron ... curious: if a movie doesn't win a poll, or isn't selected for some reason, can it still be maybe selected in the future, or do they all get only one chance ?

Steve Holton

Hi, if a movie doesn't win a poll it is not eliminated from future consideration in any way. In fact, many film poll winners have lost past polls and finally secured a win.

Paul Cox

Agreed. It's not that she doesn't enjoy war films—she's loved plenty of them—but Apocalypse Now is GRIM from the first frame to the last, just like Full Metal Jacket which she was not a fan of.

Even if she dislikes Apocalypse Now (#30 on AFI Top 100) and/or finds it icky, Apocalypse Now would be a notch on her belt as she hones her craft as a reactor. An added bonus is it should get views. (FMJ currently has 489k YT views for her.) She might find AN a little more tolerable than FMJ. Further, hopefully, she will at least appreciate acting performances. Reacting to AN would widen her perspective. Moreover, a benefit she seems to like is she would be "in the know" on references to AN.

Clay F

Yeah, definitely the theatrical version, especially for a first watch.

Bennett Holleman

Brackets aside, still need to watch Smokey and the Bandit. Cassie would love Burt and Sally's chemistry not to mention Jackie Gleason's monumental performance.

Clay F

True, but even if a tough watch for her, Apocalypse Now (#30 on AFI Top 100) would be a notch on her belt as she hones her craft as a reactor.

Many times, if another was pretty close, Cassie has often worked the runner-up into the schedule as well

What ever the result, I think this idea will be become an annual thing for as long as Cassie maintains the channel. I think it has grabbed all Patreon members attention. Whoever suggested the idea should be acknowledged for the idea.

To me it's conceivable that if Purdue wins she will still watch Mr. Holland's Opus. But if UConn wins, she may push Apokolips Now aside for a while. Personally, I hope she reacts to all 4 of the Final 4 movies.

I finally finished my bracket, now how do I submit it? The Yahoo thing doesn't seem to be working. Except for that round one Florida Atlantic pic, it has been perfect! So I have a good feeling about my chances and being able to pick five movies for everyone to vote on. I'm thinking- Indictment: The McMartin Trial, The Last Unicorn, Space Cop, Short Time, and Moving.

Come on Apocalypse

Shehab Dawoud

So what was it we agreed on? The last two both getting a watch? Thank you very much!
