I never liked the concept of the Q character, but it was a smart plot device no doubt, and John De Lance was simply brilliant in the role. The series had some great episodes and some middling to poor episodes, that is very much to be expected over 178 episodes.

Q is a fan favorite. As for me as a big-time TNG fan, Q is one of my least favorite characters of the series. Q episodes are some of my least favorite episodes. John de Lancie is an excellent actor and the scenes with Q can have electric dialogue, but the presence of the Q character puts the premise of TNG in the realm of "Bewitched" or "I Dream of Jeannie." I thought that back in the late 1980s when watching the TNG series as it aired.

I absolutely loved that you called Riker by name Rickard - Since Riker is essentially Deckard (from The Motion Picture) with a fresh coat of paint on him.
