We started sailing our home, SV CUBA, over three years ago. From day one it has been a steep learning curve for us since we set off with minimal experience. Some days were more difficult than others. But we were also gifted a few moments of plain sailing, like this one.

During our time sailing the Med there haven’t been all too many times, where it was even possible to comfortably access the deck.

Oftentimes the wind and sea state change in a matter of minutes, making it necessary for all hands to be ready in the cockpit. While living on a sailboat, and moving frequently from anchorage to anchorage, we are usually on the ready. Sometimes we do not even stop and just sail on through the nights and all kinds of weather conditions.

Therefore, not just one lunch, dinner or quiet moment on board had been cut short by a sudden gust or unexpected weather building up. Yet when the winds are fair and the sea is calm, we like to take the opportunity to live the lazy life to the fullest. Even if it is only for a few brief moments.
