Hey guys!

I have been experimenting with a remote rendering service which will allow me to increase the quality of my renders (without taking all of my nights, lol!) and I also hope to be able to expand into more short animations.

I need your help to decide on the best delivery format for animations and video.

This format is what I've come up with after some careful consideration, but it might not work well for some of you. Interestingly enough, the GIF version of this animation is *lots* larger than the video MP4 version!

Patreon does not currently have native video posting ability. I could use a third party to host the video and then link to it (Patreon *does* have that capacity) - but I do not like the idea of my videos out on another site with potentially different rules about what is considered acceptable content, blah-blah, and so on.

So, let me know the what you think about *this* delivery method for video content either in the comments or via private message. Does the GIF animation play smoothly on your preferred device? How does the video look by comparison? Would you like the video to have multiple loops or does the repeat feature on your video playback device work well enough for looping video like this?

Let me know and enjoy!

I love the idea of higher quality pics and videos. On my computer, the pictures load immediately whereas on my phone it takes quite some time, but I don't mind. It's worth the wait. As for videos, I'm ok with downloading from Patreon links, until – if ever – they have an option to play videos. I don't think you should go through the trouble of looping the videos. It can easily be done in a video player. Well done 👍

Thank you so much for the detailed response - that is so helpful! 😃 I had some interesting problems during testing yesterday - Photoshop has some limited video editing capacity that I was testing but my renders were too large to output at full size! And then I copied several versions to my tablet (this was of today's other post, not this one) and the largest few would not play! 😲 I'll get it figured out eventually. 😸

With other creators using animation. Most just post it in whatever format best works for them, and they all play well on my laptop. But other creators use a different site to place their animations in, like, Google Drive or other sites/cloud services where the followers have to either have a password to get the download or already have an account for their own password. Most of those are difficult for me to get access to. For me I find third party links are weird, some work and others are so involved that I just forget bout it!!! I'm lazy I need easy!!! 🥴😛🙄

Thanks for the feedback! 😁 I wanted to make it easy - so I'm glad to hear your perspective on that. I'm happy you liked him too! 🥳
