Both attempted to remove the corruption from Lupa's arm with the assistance of the witches' adept bloodmages, Hanibel and Lachesis. But the corruption of the abyss progressed more quickly than expected. Lupa's arm started acting on its own initiative, reacting against her will and even trying to force shift. It was ultimately determined that amputation was the best course of action because the infection had spread too far and there was a chance Lupa would be lost to it. Something Gilga refused to acknowledge.
