I'm now backtesting on multiple instruments the parrot poison signal.

Fine tuning signal should be consider an art, the art of printing money!

What have I've been up to with the Parrot Poison?

I'm no longer using static values, everything is now respecting the volatility of the markets . This can be achieved by introducing the use of ATR (average true range) in your parameters. More specifically the ATRP, which is nothing but the ATR/close price: an average indicator of volatility in percentage.

We normally do things like for example (watch my video about fine tuning signals):

"When the moving average is 10% above the close price"

Which you can replace for:

"When the moving average is 10% above the price + the value of the % ATRP"

A small tweak like this applied in the right places can make a HUGE difference in terms of performance.

The Parrot Poison went from a signal that makes 50% in two months of backtest to 700% P/L in the same period with a 3.8% drawdown.

"Of course" - you are going to say -  "this is not even paper trading, this is only backtesting. There's fees to consider etc.". And you are absolutely right. But those fees also affect the original strategy, so this one should definitely leave more money in your pocket compared to the initial static approach.

There's also some limitations with backtesting that are not reflecting accurately the DCA setup that we have in 3commas. DCA in TradingView works based on pyramiding which needs a lot of tweaking to mirror our actual DCA bots behaviour.

So I'm excited, but I'm not expecting to make 700% every two months...otherwise I should start thinking which island in the Caribbean should we buy to keep running the Trading Parrot from there :D

What's next?

This needs to go back to the oven. I'm testing as usual with real money. A couple of weeks to make sure it's behaving as the back test promises.

What's behind the Parrot Poison?

Are you interested to know what combinations of indicators is this signal using? I will disclose the indicators as soon as the signal is finished and available. I won't give all the details and parameters as that's really hard work, but I'm happy to share information that can lead you to learn how to write your own monster signals by yourself.

Definitely interested in what signals it's using and any info you can share about the process of coming up with the strategy/testing/etc. Very excited for this signal!
