The Sinnerman- Thank you so much for another great reaction, Magy! Another good episode. Although... I feel like this episode could have been better had certain storylines throughout it played out a bit differently. Especially in regards to Maze's overall storyline, the Sinnerman and his plans involving Lucifer, as well as the scenes between Chloe and Pierce. First, as for what I love most about this episode... I love the session between Lucifer and Linda inside her office in the beginning, when Linda asks Lucifer about his power to draw out people's desires and if they came to him because of his personality, or if his personality was shaped because of his powers. It's so funny that Lucifer jokes with Linda about him attending an angel school in the sky, similar to Hogwarts from the Harry Potter books and movies, and it's even more hilarious how she falls for it so easily until Lucifer simply starts laughing to admit he's teasing her. And then... Lucifer goes on to explain that he was born as he is, always having the power of desire, whereas Amenadiel was born with the power to slow down time, Uriel with the power to see patterns, and the rest of their brothers and sisters with their very own powers as well. I also love how Lucifer explains that desire is the ultimate expression of free will, which is what Lucifer wants more than anything. To be able to have free will and to be held accountable for his own actions. I find it interesting that Lucifer doesn't really know how to answer Linda's very reasonable question other than as he does, given that he doesn't really know himself. But it's definitely interesting to wonder if God gave his children their gifts because of their personalities, or if their personalities were granted to them in a sense after they came into their powers. It certainly seems like their gifts were given to them all because of their personalities, given who Lucifer is and what he desires, as well as given who Amenadiel is and who Uriel was. Linda certainly asks a good question. Next... Chloe comes to Pierce on what appears to be his first day back since the shooting, asking him for a personal day, which he simply says he'll take her request under advisement and then completely ignores her. In all honesty, I am still intrigued by the mystery surrounding Pierce and his knowledge about the Sinnerman. But I am continuing to really dislike his overall character and how he treats everyone who works under him. Especially Chloe, Lucifer, Dan, and Ella. His cold attitude just annoys me more than I suspect it does most fans of this show. Even when he appears to be trying to be polite and helpful. I suspect there's a reason behind it, but at this point in the show, Pierce's overall character really annoys me. At least the part of him we've seen in the forefront through this point in the season. And I especially hate that Ella is continuing to push Chloe into believing he likes her and that they would make such a cute couple. Me wanting only Lucifer and Chloe together aside... Chloe and Pierce do not make a good couple whatsoever, and they have absolutely no chemistry. I know Ella's push part of her character's innocence and naivety coming out, but as far as I see it... she is blind. And all of this is why I really hate that this episode makes Chloe appear to be attracted to Pierce too. I just have never seen the appeal in these two characters coming together in the slightest. I'll come back to more about the scenes between Chloe and Pierce shortly... As for the overall case and two people whom Lucifer had granted favors to being killed... first, I don't really like how Lucifer had been okay with granting the kid we see in the very beginning coming to Lucifer for a favor, a way to get involved with the mob as their runner so that he could one day rise up within their ranks. As we know... Lucifer isn't evil and as was shown back in season one's episode.... Sweet Kicks, he didn't take too kindly upon learning that another of his favors would be used so Benny could set someone up to take the fall for a crime committed by him, because innocent people were hurt because of this favor he granted Benny under false pretenses. This shows Lucifer despises when innocent people are hurt, so in learning that he willingly set the kid within this episode up with the mob just feels so out of character for Lucifer. I can understand Lucifer possibly having dealings with the mob to buy drugs, or perhaps to help someone get out of the mob, but I really don't like that the show's creators and writers would write that Lucifer would willingly help someone join the mob. As for the hairstylist... now I can definitely see Lucifer helping her so she could become famous and known for being a stylist among the celebrities. And upon seeing that a completely innocent woman he had helped through another favor is killed, I really appreciate that Lucifer immediately becomes angry and longs to find her killer so he can punish them when he sees that she too has been killed. I love how we come to learn that the mysterious Sinnerman is the one behind their deaths, and that his motive was so he could lure Lucifer into a trap. And I love how it connects to Lucifer having been kidnapped and dumped in the desert from season two's finale and season three's premiere. I also really love the scenes between Lucifer and the Sinnerman once Lucifer becomes trapped. I love the conversation between Lucifer and the Sinnerman, who is safe somewhere undisclosed while he speaks with Lucifer through the TV planted inside the freezer, and I love how the Sinnerman taunts Lucifer, and how he is able to truly trap him once he reveals Lucifer is unable to break out because of the thickness of the walls and door. It's also fantastic that the Sinnerman knows the truth about Lucifer being the Devil and knows of his power to draw out people's desires too. And I love that when Lucifer asks him why he's doing all of this, the Sinnerman refuses to answer and instead simply states that Lucifer will see. Sadly, this is where I come to hate this storyline, because Lucifer doesn't remain trapped for very long on account of Maze showing up and setting Lucifer free much sooner than the Sinnerman intended. The conversation between Lucifer and Maze through the door is pretty funny for the most part. However, I wish that Lucifer had remained a prisoner longer, and I hate that we never learn why it is the Sinnerman wanted to trap him. This whole scene is set up to make us excited about some real trouble, perhaps even danger coming Lucifer's way, or for some big confrontation, and yet nothing comes from it. The Sinnerman knows about Lucifer really being the Devil and knows of his powers too. So chances are pretty good that he could know more of his weaknesses as well, yet we still get nothing. And I was really excited for what was supposedly coming, only to become let down in a big way. Very disappointing. At least to me, or maybe I was just expecting something more from this overarching storyline. I do however love the brief phone conversation between Lucifer and Chloe when he calls her once Maze lets him go, especially once Lucifer hears the gunshots in the background that immediately makes him afraid for Chloe. And I love how Lucifer immediately rushes over to Chloe's side and asks her if she's all right once he arrives at the crime scene. I love how his concern is always for Chloe first above everything else, and I love how Chloe then calms Lucifer down upon seeing him so angry when he attempts to walk over to the Sinnerman to interrogate him his way. She's always so good at helping him, and I love seeing her concern for him in her eyes, just as we see Lucifer's concern for Chloe in his eyes as well. :) As for my dislike in Maze's storyline throughout this episode... I have to honestly say that this episode is when I begin to grow very tired with Maze's overall character. Please don't get me wrong... I love Maze and I always will. She is especially phenomenal throughout all of season two. Now... I feel like she appears to be slowly reverting back into her old self a little, and I don't like it. And not just because of her attitude towards Lucifer, Linda, and Amenadiel throughout this episode. I can perhaps understand her being somewhat upset with Lucifer, because he can be callous at times. Although her being so in my opinion is just getting old. Maze has always been a bit up and down in her anger towards Lucifer and in this episode, her attitude towards him just seems really petty and more annoying than anything else. So much so, that I've grown sick of her constantly getting angry with him for things that he's really not to blame for. Besides... Lucifer has no idea that Linda and Amenadiel are growing closer at this point either, so for Maze to keep him trapped longer so she can complain to him about not knowing what Linda and Amenadiel are up to, while lucifer is worried about the Sinnerman and his plans... it's a bit ridiculous and I really don't like it. Lucifer has some great lines that are very funny like always, but this is all I love about this conversation between him and Maze. I also dislike Maze's attitude towards Linda and Amenadiel. I can somewhat understand her not wanting them to pursue any kind of relationship. I can understand why she feels left out even. But at the end of the day... she has no right to be so upset with them for doing so. Maze broke up with Amenadiel and she's made it clear that she won't ever take him back. If he wants to get together with Linda, they have every right to do so. It's like Lucifer said... Maze has no claim over Amenadiel because they're not together any longer and it's incredibly unfair for her not to want him ever be with anyone else. I get it... she is a demon and she struggles with human emotion just like Lucifer does, and she's angry because anger is her one go to emotion she knows all too well. And I understand her feeling left out because of the friendship she shares with both of them. But until now... Maze has never shown any interest in wanting Amenadiel back. And she's been with plenty of other sexual partners since their break up. I just really don't care for her overall storyline this episode. Now... I enjoy the scenes between Chloe and Charlotte as well. And I love how hard Charlotte is still trying to change to make up for all of her mistakes from when she used to be a corrupt defense lawyer. And while it's a little wrong of Chloe to use Charlotte because she expects her to mess up as Charlotte does, Chloe is definitely right that it's going to take time for her and everyone else to trust her. So I understand why Chloe uses her to get the mobsters to do the work in finding the Sinnerman for them. And I love the scene in the end between Charlotte and Dan, and how Dan comforts her by sharing with her how much they both have in common and that so long as they keep trying, that is what counts. And I appreciate Dan for comforting her. Oh... and Charlotte being in the men's bathroom and her recognizing as such when the officer walks in on their conversation... very funny. In regards to Chloe opening up to Pierce about her father and sharing with him what she says she has been unable to share with Lucifer... this also really bothers me. Because in spite of all of Lucifer's "Luciferness", she's always been able to open up to him about anything. This has been established since season one's episode... St. Lucifer, and more so in season two's episode... Everything's Coming Up Lucifer. So it bothers me that she suddenly shares such a tender moment with Pierce when she barely knows the man, and hasn't trusted or even liked him at all until now. Again... it feels out of character for Chloe too. Even though I understand the creators and writers created this moment between them because Chloe and Pierce have the deaths of those close to them in common. And lastly... I feel that tis ending with Chloe and Pierce catching the Sinnerman almost too easily feels very off. And I didn't really feel any kind of emotion upon seeing Pierce struggle with not killing the man. I suppose it's because I just really don't like his character at all. However, I do appreciate that Chloe is there to stop Pierce from pulling the trigger like she's been there to protect Lucifer too, because I love this side of her character. But while I don't care for the arrest, I like that it leads us into the ending when Lucifer attempts to confront the Sinnerman again, only to horrifyingly discover that he has cut out his own eyes in order to keep Lucifer from being able to use his mojo on him to get him to talk. Yikes!! I don't really like the character of this suspect claiming to be the Sinnerman because he does seem off, and I don't necessarily care much for how the actor playing him plays this character either. But I like the sinister vibes coming from him and this ending is definitely terrifying. Overall... this episode is good, but I really wish certain storylines within it had been written differently that I feel would have made this episode so much better. Nonetheless... thank you so much for another fun reaction, Magy! I am happy you enjoyed this episode. However, I want Chloe to wind up with Lucifer, and not Pierce. I feel that this relationship they appear to be trying to develop is only being pushed on us, and not in a good way. Tom Welling was great in Smallville, but I'm not a fan of his here in Lucifer. His acting is a bit too boring for my taste if I am being perfectly honest. But... I'm looking forward to your next reactions, so until then, my friend... Sincerely, Heidi

Heidi, I typically don't read text walls but I gave it shot. Overall it sounds like you dislike much more than you like about this show. Perhaps it is human nature to focus on what we wish was different, especially if we feel we could have done a better job ourselves. I really do appreciate and respect your passion. I wish I could develop a connection with a show like that. The last one that came even close was Game of Thrones and they broke my heart.

I absolutely love this show. And I always focus on what I love about it and every episode. If you were to read more of my thoughts for the previous episodes, you would see this. However, this just happens to be an episode that I find I disagree with a lot of the directions the writers and creators took with it, and wish certain elements had been written differently. I wanted to share my honest thoughts. Thank you for taking your time to read my thoughts, my friend.
