Jackary Archives Day 161 - Nude Rydia (2021) (Patreon)

Today's Archives Post brings you Rydia from Final Fantasy IV! This green-haired gal last appeared in the Archives on Day 14, 147 days ago. But on that day, she was wearing underwear. On this day, she's wearing nothing at all. I'm sure some of you will find that agreeable?

ARTIST NOTES

Rydia is one of my favorite characters from Final Fantasy IV, which is one of my favorite games, and it's also unique in that it's from the pixel era so there is a lot of room for interpretation for how you draw the characters. Although Square has landed on modern "canon" designs for the pixel era of FF characters, I still feel a lot more flexible in how I approach them.

That being said, I decided to use their outfit for this drawing when I drew it (which you can't see here for obvious reasons), but I drew her hair and face how I imagined her to be in my head.

This is an older drawing from 2021, but I still really like it. It never does huge numbers when I post it -- likely because it's Rydia, who isn't a mass appeal character, and likely because this is a very pinup-y drawing, which is uncharacteristic for a character like Rydia -- but I still love it, and that's what matters! Her face still lands for me, her hair has a fun weight and texture to it, and her skin has such lovely, soft rendering. I'm a fan of this piece, everything about it just works for me.

The one constraint I had in drawing this piece is that the commissioner had a single request -- he wanted some armpit showing, LOL

That definitely affected the way I approached her pose, because if it weren't for that, I imagine I would have gone in a different direction for this piece. But I like where it ended up!

For those wondering why there are two versions: The one with the bigger breasts is the original version, but partway through, I felt like they were a bit too big, so I downsized them. The commissioner, however, liked them just the way they were, so I decided to keep that version for him so he could have both ;D And now you do too!
