Start your engines! Today's Archives post is Severa from Fire Emblem Awakening in a race queen outfit!

She's already appeared in the Archives once before, with her race queen outfit conspicuously absent. But here she is in all her SFW glory... as well as a version where she's topless with her skirt, if you're into that kind of thing.

ARTIST NOTES

As you could probably predict, this is a commission. I've never expressed any kind of proclivity towards cars or car culture in my history of arting and tweeting, so you can reasonably assume it was someone else's request!

That being said, for being a subject matter that's so out of left field, I really like how this one turned out. Severa is one of my favorite characters in Awakening, and although she usually has that snarky tsundere pouty face, I felt like I still captured her personality here, as much as I could in a picture like this, anyway.

But I also like her pose, the shiny sheen of her latex outfit, her facial expression, the details on the car, etc. Everything just works for me! It makes me a little bummed that it's such a random combination of character/idea, because this has never been a super popular piece and I feel like it would have a little more love if the character and setting made a bit more sense together!

BUT! Widespread reception is only the cherry on top of creating art -- the important thing is that the commissioner is happy and that the artist is fulfilled. Both of these things were true with this artwork, so no need for despair!
