Many Faces (Patreon)

Lately I find myself sketching the same face a half-dozen or more times before I'm happy enough with it to start inking. This is a compilation of some rejected sketches I'm not going to use for Chapter 3.  They aren't great... but I think a few of them are still kinda good.

This doesn't even include all the ones that got erased somewhere down the line.  I probably redrew Max another half-dozen or more times as well, but I erased the previous sketches out of frustration.  I'm still trying to find that mysterious, elusive secret of cuteness.  Max is supposed to be adorable.  But there's a very fine line between cute and creepy, and my art still kinda skirts the edge of it.
