I also feel that the reason why Klaus would never become mortal again... just imagine how many enemies he's made in those thousand years. Any of those, that can still be alive today, would be seeking vengeance on him; now he's a lot more vulnerable. Though... he'd be a werewolf WITCH, if he'd learned the powers in his mother's grimoire. So, he's still another type of hybrid, while his daughter is a tribrid, lol.

the mother turned them into vamps bc of the werewolves killing the youngest boy Henrik. After that, Mikael wanted them to be stronger and faster than wolves in all ways, so he made Esther make the spell. Also, You can’t turn someone into a witch, that has to be inherited. The mikaelson siblings would have all been full witches if they weren’t turned (if you remember, kol said he was the only sibling to really tap into & embrace witchcraft before the transition).

I really really loved the Klaus and Elijah scenes in this episode, how Klaus spoke to him while asleep and also the talk after Elijah woke. They wanted them to have be faster and physically stronger than the wolves that were responsible for killing Henrik (the youngest Mikaelson sibling). The blood lust and therefore that they are vampires was just what came with the magic that gave them these new abilities.
