Honestly, your discussion before the episode sounded like you had already seen it! Y'all are so good! Doakes couldn't take the slides on the plane because of customs. After he was sure that someone could analyze the slides he planned to bring them back to Haiti on a boat, avoiding the eyes of customs. Loved your example, it was perfect. But Doakes could tell them and why would they believe him? He thought he needed more proof, to catch him in the act, but you are right. If he had turned the slides in only Dexter's prints and DNA were on them and would have cleared Doakes. However, being obtained illegally, they still wouldn't have had proof but on the other hand they would KNOW!

That episode is sooo good. I forgot just how good this season is. Just FYI guys Season 9 starts November 7th on Showtime.
