I've opened a new Patreon campaign at https://www.patreon.com/BigBrassBand for my brand new game Lord Goblin, and it has the v0.1 teaser release of the game available right now!

Yes, this is a game I've designed and written, but for this one I'm working with a talented team to handle the art, animation and programming!

Game description: You play as a goblin who's become lord of a mediaeval manor. You'll have to renovate the castle, manage the lands and train your maids in the arts of love...

I should be clear that this is still a very early version of the game, more of a teaser, really, but we've got loads of stuff ready to include in future updates. We've been working for several years already just to have it all ready to go!

Woohoo, it's got it's own page now!

It does! I'm pretty excited! Well, except I've also got the flu, so that puts a bit of a damper on things, and it's only a soft launch right now, but it's still exciting.

BBBen

Thank you! It is a bit of a nasty one, but I haven't had a fever and I'm getting rest and eating foods to help recovery, so I'm improving.

I'm interested in trying it out, but I don't really want to sign up to another Patreon for a game I haven't played. I guess I'll wait until there's a public release to try it.

BBBen

No problem, we'll have this version out free next month. We're just doing a soft launch right now to make the process easier.

Must admit to be a tad confused, or disappointed, that a second Patreon is made for this. I've been a $10 Patron of yours for years now and enjoyed all your games, so to enjoy this I have to pay separately? I understand it's a whole other team and they have to get their share as well and all, but com'on man? Really? Guess I'll just have to be patient for the public releases on this one.

Sorry you're disappointed, I've tried to telegraph this decision for a long time to explain my reasoning behind it since Patreon isn't exactly designed around the idea of people having multiple, quite different projects. In addition to the reasons you mention, it's also because of the two having some very different publishing/business requirements (Steam, a different release pattern, working with a label, different pricing) and because I expect the two games to have different audiences (even if they will overlap) thanks to the big art differences. It's not that I'm trying to double-dip my existing Patreon audience; I'm just trying and expecting to cultivate a new audience with LG. I've actually written up a whole post on this that I might post this week about my decisions around it.

Thanks for the reply. My confusion lies within the description of the $10 Tier, Full access to all your games in development. Either this needs to be edited, or Lord Goblin is not your game, even as it say in the opening line "my brand new game"? As said, I understand fully that LG is a project with a different team and as such, plus all the reasons you just described, would validate it's own Patreon, however I can't be the only one who got confused.

It's a fair point; I wrote that up a while back because I did have multiple games running at once on here. Multiple solo projects, that is, with Let Me In and Let Me Out alongside the main games. I also completed PAL and moved on to PAT, and at the time I didn't have any team projects. I still plan to put all my solo-developed stuff on here, of course, but I should update that wording on the tier.

Yeah, something like: "Access to all my solo game projects?" ;-) I was mainly concerned that other confused patrons, or possible future patrons, would get angry and cut their support. Personally I'll just stick with this $10 pledge and wait for the public versions of that other game, which I'm looking forward to trying out, but have to save my monthly budget as I do support other worthy game creators too ;-)

BBBen

Sure thing, I appreciate your support! There'll be a free demo out next month, anyway. :)
