tl;dr - I'm making good progress on the gameplay of Timelapse, so I'm going to stick with that right now rather than put out a rushed monthly release. Next month should have a much more playable release.

This week's image:

These pictures are from a scene that will be upcoming in Emi's story at some point, although not this month. (More on that below.) The two different angles on this scene hopefully capture what's going on nicely. ;) I pretty much rendered it like this because I couldn't decide on which angle was the right one for this shot, so I went with both. I'll probably use both in game, but which do you prefer?

Fast progress means no update this month... what?

Here's the thing - for ages I was hitting a wall with the programming of the main game functions, so I couldn't advance the main story and I couldn't create the core gameplay. Now, as I've been showing you in recent weeks, I've busted through that wall (basically by figuring out some stuff I didn't understand) and I'm able to achieve substantial leaps and bounds in the behind-the-scenes side of the development.

Because I'm so on track with this stuff, I'd really like to now just take a bit of time to focus on making that stuff work and not have to rush out a couple of scenes for a half-complete monthly release in May. The game is sort of playable at the moment, but not enough to be enjoyable for you.

Hunting for memories

To get into some specifics about what I'm doing at the moment, I've had the dating system more or less set up all week, but I also had to set up the system for seeking out flashbacks once you've unlocked them. In the game, you'll earn these memories through building up your relationships with the girls, then you'll be able to go down to the subway to view them. (Spending time - so you'll have to think about balancing that out!)

I could have just made this a boring menu of some kind, but based on Discord server suggestions I decided to go with something based on a subway metro map:

This might look more complicated than it actually is. Basically, whenever you've unlocked a memory one of those dots will be coloured in yellow and you'll be able to hover over it and click it to see the scene - nothing more to it than that. It's still just a fancy menu, but I think it adds some nice flavour since Shuji is actually taking the train to places to help aid his memory.

And yes, if you were wondering, obviously the map is symbolic and not entirely literal here. There isn't really a "Nobuko" line on the Gainsboro metro system. ;)

Sorry for the late update! I was busy when I normally write them. So which of the Emi pics do you prefer? Does the metro map look all right to you? And are you okay with me not releasing an update this month because of the development stage? (Tell me if you think that's a bad decision.) Let me know in the comments or on Discord!

Updates are sometimes good enough. I've mentioned before that it us sometimes unrealistic to do a release on a set schedule for a game in progress. It's to be expected. And for the record, I like POV and eye contact so the bottom pic is my pick! LOL
