You may have already seen this news elsewhere, but I felt it was important to put out a post myself. Patreon has recognised that there was a lot of backlash and disagreement with their decision to change the fee structure and they've therefore decided they won't be doing it. This is, at least for now, I think, good news for everyone.

I haven't had a great month of support so far; it's impossible to know how much better it would have been if the fee changes hadn't taken place, but certainly some people leaving did cite the fee changes as their cause for cancelling pledges to me. It may have also counteracted growth I may have seen from my last release; I can't be sure. Furthermore, it had become clear that because I was going to be making less on upfront charges I'd be losing probably more income than I was losing before in paying the fees, so I was a bit worried about it all.

Most importantly, $1 patrons in particular were losing out and a lot of people felt they would have to limit the amount of patrons they were supporting (understandably). It was, unfortunately, just a poorly chosen way to structure things that did not come from me or any other creators.

I'm happy now that it's gone and I wanted to get the word out. You will now not be charged any more than you choose to pledge by Patreon (unless you're charged VAT by your home government). Patreon actually does sound like they understand why this was a bad idea and exactly what was wrong with it. They also responded quickly to the complaints, so that's a good result. If you want to read their apology, it's right here: https://blog.patreon.com/not-rolling-out-fees-change/

Yeah it was getting ridiculous for me, my government charges 21% VAT, the additional charges made it even worse.

I'm glad at least some of the nickle and dime pressure is off for you, then. A lot of people who broadly support a bunch of different creators were being punished.
