More than ever before I tested and experimented in preparation to provide options for a character's clothes. In Daz the figures are separated into different generations and genders. I use Genesis 8 models and often simple assets are easy to swap between genders. The same cannot be said for hair and clothing.

In my Discord server I posted a small preview pic that featured a black and white maid dress. I loved the look of this whole outfit but I realized when posing these renders that it wasn't going to be a viable option. The unnaturally angular bunching of the apron was unfixable and the heeled shoes required extra posing considerations.

Another problem was the fabric didn't "ruffle" correctly. Look at his left shoulder in this shot. More blocky bunching.

Zooming in, it's obvious why I had to cull this choice. I tried scripted converters, alternate surface types, and physics simulation, but none could fix the blockiness problem.

The living room scene from the poll post has more realistic lighting. They were actually completed before the portrait ones. I learned my lesson from before, I need to pose all outfits a few different ways before committing to them.

It took a lot more time and effort to get this maid dress to naturally drape. Even then there are still some errors if you look close. For all these reasons, I had to let it ago.

I'm still committed to including cross dressing content despite the difficulties. It may be a annoyance to fiddle with clothes for the wrong gender, but I find that hilariously accurate to real life more than I find it frustrating.
