Hunter x Hunter Master List

Dirty_Oldman

I don’t think Gon wanted Ging to meet Killua. I honestly don’t think Gon even thinks that far ahead. If he did, well he would be with Ging now and not Kite.

Julius

Didn’t he literally say he wanted to introduce Kil to his dad?

Doobious

Last episode gon literally said he's bringing killua to meet his dad because he wants his dad to meet his best friend

Dirty_Oldman

It’s more so Killua is with Gon on the journey to meet his dad. It’s not in his character to abandon Killua at that point. It’s more of a by product of them being on their adventure. Btw Gon has never met his dad so he kind of needs Killua. It’s would calm his nerves and make him more confident.

Dirty_Oldman

It’s like planning to introduce someone family, or introducing someone to family because they are with you.

Dirty_Oldman

No L to take. You must have never been in a situation when you introduced someone out of circumstance.

Dirty_Oldman

That’s what everyone has pointed out. However, Ging stated sound reasoning this episode to prove that otherwise. Although it’s mostly dismissed as him not being a good dad. The show so far proves that Gings predictions are not wrong, which is why he is a great hunter.

Anthony Schneider

yeah, the guy who abandoned his son is a reasonable thinker lmao. You're thought process is flawed.

Dirty_Oldman

When has Ging been wrong so far? All of this is part of his plan. Unless you can disprove it, that’s a flawed argument.

Cinya

They really changed and dramatized their reunion in this show. In the manga Kite just turned around and was happy to see Gon. They recognized each other immediately. No "regular" Chimera Ants(that was all filler) and Kite being menacing for 5 seconds. The three just hit it off. Also no flashback. That was also Filler.

Ray

I don't really get how this far into the anime people can still be so frustrated with Ging. Unless it's just supposed to be funny to shit on Ging all the time, idk, lol. Before I continue, I will agree that it is wrong to have a child and abandon them. I'm not condoning it. But.. Gon has accepted that this is who is father is. Hell, it's hard to say he really even acknowledges him as a father figure because he always calls him "Ging", and rarely says father. He even said it feels more right to call him by his name. Gon's whole reason for wanting to find Ging is to ask him what was so important to him that it was worth abandoning his son. But Gon isn't coming at Ging from a place of hate.. He's coming at him from a place of wanting to understand. Gon got all the love and care he needed from Mito and his grandmother (or great grandmother? can't remember). He was clearly raised in a loving family just from the person we see he's already grown to be. So the reason I find it strange when people give Gon's dad so much hate is because Gon has accepted Ging for who is he. He has no hate in his heart towards him. Not once during any of the trials his dad set before him has Gon ever said anything negative about Ging. He just looks forward to the challenge. So why hate Ging when Gon doesn't hate Ging? It'd be like if you had a friend in real life who had a dad who abandoned them as a child but they've moved on and accepted that part of their life. It'd be strange to keep being like, "Aren't you upset?" "Don't you hate him?" "It really doesn't bother you?" .. That's like the feeling it gives me when I see people get so bothered with Ging. It's not really your place to be upset for Gon because Gon isn't upset himself. It'd be different if Gon talked about how it upset him that Ging left him. Or if every once in awhile Ging would do something to try and truly hurt Gon. But none of those things have happened. The only reason I mention this is because some of the reactors REALLY seem to be frustrated. Unless it's just acting that's going over my head, lol. Sorry if this comes off as offensive or blunt. I'm not trying to be.

Zerofighter93

You are correct on Gons' feeling towards Ging, but reactors or people will put themselves in Gon's place and feel a certain way towards Ging. I mean even I think its silly how Ging is as a father since most fathers aren't like him. It very common for people to think this way, after all it is an anime. Anime/manga will have outrages things happening like how Ging treats Gon. So I don't really get mad or frustrated when people will have their own opinions on Ging, after reactions are determined how people view their own world.

Ray

You're right. I guess I kinda wanted to open up a discussion about it. Of course I agree that people should be able to react however they want. Sometimes I like to put a different point of view out there and see if it causes someone to change the way they see things. A lot of people see Ging as nothing more than a dead-beat father who abandoned his son, while others can see him as a man who's given his son the fuel to go on this adventure that will change his life forever. I just wonder how many people dislike him as much as some of the reactors in this group seem to dislike him. While I was kind of forward (best word I can think of) in my original comment, I still find it hard to understand how Ging frustrates them as much as he seems to be.

Chimezie Meregini

I personally completely understand why people dislike or even hate Ging, I would even go as far as to say the majority of the fanbase dislikes Ging, as a father at least. He is honestly up there among the worse fathers of anime history, and seeing how short the list is he might be top 15-20. Part of the hate for him, as a father, simply stems from the fact that he's a deadbeat. There's not much else you need, he left his kid and never apologized for it. Just because Gon didn't hate him for it, doesn't mean he just gets an automatic pass from everyone else. If I had a friend whose father did half as much as Ging, I'd never trust the guy and try my best to steer my friend away from him (but that would have never worked on Gon, he's honestly too pure-hearted and stubborn for it). And we see this, Mito didn't like him, her mother didn't like him, Killua didn't like him, and Leorio HATED the man. Almost everyone close to Gon did not like Ging, but they never expressed it because they didn't WANT him to hate Ging, they just reserved feeling about Ging out of Gon's best interest. I would say the main hate for him as a father stems from his lack of care for Gon's well-being. He told everyone (and I mean everyone, the sailor from episode ONE knew who he was) he knew that he had a son named Gon and to expect him on his journey, made Greed Island (a WHOLE island video game chock-full with Nen of every kind, from the monsters, to the décor, to the 25k+ cards in the game. I say 25k+ because the Big Rock card from the bomber fight is number 25,008 and its rank-limit was H-InFiNiTy.), and explicitly told Gon to look for him in the recording he made for him before the Yorknew City arc. He had complete intent on Gon searching for him and had no problem with this knowing full well this would expose him to potential death multiple times. This is a small list of the times Gon could have died in his search for Ging 1. When he messed with the Foxbear cub, Gon could have died because Ging just wasn't there while knowing monsters like this were all over the HxH world. 2. He could have died at almost any time during the Hunter Exam and came close with Hanzo, Illumi, and Hisoka. Yes, none had any intent on actually killing him, but Ging took this exam before and knew people as dangerous as Hanzo, Illumi, Killua, and Hisoka took these exams, yet intended on Gon to take them while providing no guidance or safety net at all. 3. Faced and was kidnapped by the Phantom Troupe, a terroristic and murderous organization. 4. He could have been killed by Razor, not because Razor had any particular hatred for Gon or personal want to kill him. But because Ging specifically told a powerful Nen-user, who used to be a murderer and still had no problem killing (he killed the fat convict who wanted to escape with no hesitation), to not hold back on him when Gon arrived. 5. He could have been killed by the bomber because there is no rule against killing in the game HE designed and HE intended his pre-pubescent son to play. I'll stop here because this is how far Morgan and them have gotten, but the list isn't even halfway done. And if you think, "But Ging was confident in Gon's strength, he knew he'd make it". My first question is how. What concrete proof did he have, that he was willing to risk Gon's life (as I showed before he had complete intent on Gon looking for him) multiple times, Gon would be anywhere as strong as himself. The next question is what if he wasn't? Even if he did have some proof that Gon could be as strong as him, what if he wasn't at any point as strong as he needed to be to survive and had died looking for him? The last question would be, what if Gon had slipped up at any of these crucial moments (as children do), and died? ***SPOILER WARNING, IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE ANIME OR READ TO THIS POINT IN THE MANGA SKIP TO THE END***** The final nail in the coffin was Ging not being willing to visit his severely ill, DYING child in the hospital. Had Gon never met Killua, never rescued Killua, had Killua died at any point, or if Nanika had simply been unwilling to heal him, Gon would have died never seeing his father after everything he went through. ********************************SPOILER OVER********************************* Overall Ging was a self-centered, nearly shameless asshole. The only reason the majority of the fanbase doesn't completely hate him is because he's Gon's father and Gon didn't hate him. Had the latter been untrue, some would argue Ging was a main antagonist.

Chimezie Meregini

When did he ever say that this was all part of his plan? Yes, he completely intended for Gon to look for him, but what proof did he have that Gon would even survive this long? Dude was just a bad father, straight up.

Nardoc

It's not strange at all bro... your post on the other hand... lol
