Let's goooooo!!!

I’d be curious to get everyone’s thoughts on this after now finishing the season (especially Hector, since he’s made mention of this a couple of times directly). I don't think I've spoken to anyone who watched this show that prefers the Piltover storylines over the Undercity. I know that the Jayce/Council stuff is less exciting. They are still GOOD scenes, they are done well, they are still interesting, etc. Just not on the same level. But in watching this season a few times now, I’m starting to appreciate how necessary they are. Not just from a story perspective. But the Undercity is so loud, and grinding, and visceral. And I wonder if 8 hours of pure Undercity would start to dull its effect on viewers. Would it eventually start having like a Michael Bay effect where it becomes less interesting and feels more like noise than it should?

CavemanSteve

Loved watching you guys react to every episode of Arcane. Big question though, where’s X-Men reactions?

Alan Mesfin

There is a teaser announcement trailer for Season 2 out too!

Zachary Letner

Truly enjoyed watching this show again with you guys! Thanks

The last 10-15 of this episode are some of my favorite of the show. All Jinx wanted was to be loved for who she was, as broken as she may have been. I think that's the reason she grew so attached to Silco. While his love started from a very evil and manipulative place, it evolved into a true father/daughter relationship. He did truly love her, even if it was this weird, twisted love built from the trauma they both endured. I truly feel like if Vi hadnt brought up their parents, Vander, Milo and Claggor, there would have still been hope for her. But Vi couldn't understand the trauma and pain Jinx has endured and was unwilling to accept she had changed. In Vi's mind, Powder was still under there somewhere, when in reality, there were only fragments of powder left. You see this shift in Jinx's eyes after Silco dies. She does what he says and accepts who she is. That is the true death of Powder and birth of Jinx.

You knowing literally nothing beforehand about the game and who the playable characters are is truly a unique delight. The Enemy music video by Imagine Dragons & JID came out like a month before the show, but the first League of Legends music video, from 2013 is very very relevant to the show, it is called "Get Jinxed"

Loved the show the first time and had such a great time rewatching it with you. Glad ya enjoyed it! Can't wait for more of this world.

Richard

Joined Patreon specifically to watch this series with you. I went in as blind as you guys and Arcane is my favorite thing to drop in the last couple years. Loved hearing your thoughts and incites.

I dropped my cookies with that cliff hanger of a season.. I can already feel S2 is gonna be a BANGER..

I cry every time when Silco says to Jinx "You're perfect". With his dying breath, all he cares about is making sure Jinx is okay. As toxic and manipulative as he is, that unconditional parental love always gets me - maybe because I don't know it myself. This is also why I love Silco. He isn't evil for the sake of being evil, he has a clear goal and has no problem with being cruel and violent to get it, but when it comes to Jinx, he is soft and emotional.

Just some context they have been working on season 2 before the end of season1 Riot is in control of making the show and Netflix is only publishing I think. Riot has said that they would be making the show even if it was not on Netflix.

Gary Donnelly

This show was an unfamiliar release for Netflix in that they released it in 3 separate weeks, this has actually helped the word of mouth and helped raise its viewership. It confirms your theory on weekly release and water cooler discussion giving momentum for the shows. Netflix must be considering this for more shows. A full release of all 9 and this may have been lost in the ether. Great reaction

I think it's been mentioned before but the Corridor Crew has a video with a Disney animator who knows a bit about the production of Arcane and it's all about the techniques used in the show. He even says at one point this show doesn't work in the Hollywood pipeline. As you dive into how it got made you'll see just how true those words are. This was a labor of love that managed to make it through and get created as intended. And I foresee some difficult editing of this episode for YouTube. Especially with the "Last Supper" scene. You guys were so drawn in that there wasn't much commentary going on as it played out. And that's not a criticism. It's a mark of how well crafted this show is that there at the crescendo there are no words for it all.

Watching the series through this second time was even more enjoyable than the first. I was amazed at how the show surprised me even on the second watch through. It's just told so well. Love this series. So now we finally have a brilliant video game adaptation. Granted they share very little similarities I think that's how you get a good one.

thanks for reacting to this wonderful show. I subscribed for this reaction, looking forward to all of y'alls stuff going forward

blehp

I'm sure ya'll already watched the supplementary behind the scenes stuff but I would 1000% percent love to watch ya'll react to those things too! Same goes with the making of marvel shows those are great!

As others said the show is financed by Riot so Netflix thankfully can't cancel it, otherwise it was in the global top 10 on Netflix (ranked by hours watched) for about a month. Also a couple days ago there was a news story that Riot hired a bunch of people from Netflix, Amazon, Paramount to build the RCU (Runeterra (name of the world) cinematic universe) I guess :D

I don't see people mention this often, but Silco is the only person in the entire show who affirms Jinx. "She's a problem," "she jinxes every job," etc. Even with Vi in the picture, she only ever calls her Powder directly. Silco even tells off Vi for calling her Powder and with his dying breath says, "You're perfect," to Jinx. Jinx is perfect. That one person who cares not about the person she was but the person she is now - that person is dead. Such a tragedy. Amazing show - can't wait for season 2

Alex D

That's the thing - Silco is the only person in the show who affirms Jinx. To everyone else she's a problem - even Vi only addresses her as Powder. To him, Jinx was perfect.

Hit the nail on the head with the soundtrack. I downloaded this after I was done with the season and I get chills listening to it still. The fight songs get me pumped and the sad stuff makes me feel things.

So now we're here at the end I remember Hector mentioning the World of Warcraft movie ... is this show the best video game adapted content so far? Does it mark the end of "well it's was just based on a video game" as an acceptable excuse when those IP's are used and the results are more or less garbage?

Jake Samuels

Had such a great time getting to experience this show again. Really glad you guys decided to give it a shot!

Matthew Garcia

This. I loved the contrast but it also serves the story so well as the conflict is tied so heavily between them.

Matthew Garcia

Now if only they would commit to this type of release schedule in the future. So much more enjoyable to get little doses of the content and then be able to sit on it and really take it in.

Antonio Guzman

Best sci-fi on netflix: Dark, its foreign but best of the best

Jrock

Hey guys!! Absolutely loved your reaction to Arcane. Has definitely become one of my favorite shows. I asked before but would love for you to react to La Casa de Papel or "Money Heist". Watching it in its original language in Spanish.

Carol Rozendo

It was a wild ride, glad you decided to watch! Considering that it took studio Fortiche 6 years to make season 1, and that most of the visuals are 2D (only characters are 3D), I'm not sure if we'll get season 2 in 2023. Maybe 2024... Unless the studio grows considerably. Here's a couple videos you might want to watch: - Music video with JID, has a few scenes not seen in the series: https://youtu.be/F5tSoaJ93ac - Making of: https://youtu.be/7rAbZUZCnL8 When I first posted about Arcane on your Discord channel it was November 2021, and I thought you wouldn't do it. First time I saw this on Netflix catalogue I dismissed it, I thought it would be a generic anime thing, until I saw comments popping up and decided to watch. Best thing of 2021. It has snatched 9 Annies and I hope it gets a couple Emmys too

Erich Bomke

Random comment based on some of the stuff discussed in regards to cinematography here but have any of you three watched Dark on Netflix?

serendib

I'm sure the music video Agustin mentioned is Get Jinxed. You might want to also check Rise. It doesn't have anything to do with the show but it's another example of the collaboration between Riot and Fortiche (the animation studio that did the show). It's a tribute video to the 2018 LoL World Championship. It depicts some of the players as the characters they used in the games. As was often seen in the show it's a great marriage of music to visuals

Leon

I've seen Arcane about 5 times now, and each time I immediately want to watch it again. This show is an actual masterpiece, I'm not saying its perfect, but it is the top of its class by the people in this field. This and into the spiderverse are the best animation has to offer right now, imo, I am sure there are other amazing ones.

HYC

That would be an amazing reaction on Patreon for our guys. That show just blew my mind, constantly.

Roman Penna

I loved re-watching this with you guys, picked up so much more, and makes me want to watch it all again. I still got the same goosebumps and the same feelings even though I knew what was coming. I honestly think this is the best media I have seen in a long time!

Over a week without reactions. Where are my Heroes?

Thurrak

It's funny that Augustin says League of Legends is a "small IP" haha. The game has a player base over 100 million.

hawkins437

I actually do prefer the Piltover storyline (although the undercity storyline is still brilliant) because I find the whole political side intriguing, but I'm also one of the few people whose favourite characters are Jayce and Mel, and I genuinely enjoy their relationship - all unpopular opinions in this fandom.

Brandon Winslow

Watching this season for a second time with the homies was great! Thankfully Season 2 is coming, even if it'll probably be a while. It'll be worth it!

Felicia B

Sad this reaction is over but super excited to start watching your other videos! Next up Squid Game!

Richie Gross

Now you gotta watch it again. You’ll see sooooo much more on second viewing. And all the songs were actually written for the show!
