We are getting closer and closer to the finale of Arcane, and this show continues to outperform all of our expectations. Calling it now, it'll be a sad day when this season ends. Until then, grab a snack and join us for this exciting episode.

The cool thing about arcane was they actually released each act weekly which I really appreciated. I would love stranger things to also do a weekly release. The speculation and mysteries that show has/had would have benefitted so much from a weekly release and the conversation that follows around that.

I just wanna point out to Hector that while yes the different animation styles that this episode uses are very reminiscent of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse ... this show was already well into production when that movie came out. I would say that it's an example of two different groups of creators hitting upon the same good ideas in storytelling in isolation from one another. And beyond that I would add there's no simple question of "who did it better?" A multiverse story like SMITS is ultimately a better vehicle for displaying that but I think this series does an equally great job of utilizing it within a much narrower set of storytelling limits. So kudos to both.

Something I appreciate about the scene with Silco and the chem barons is it manages to communicate somthing about the state of the Undercity/Zaun, the degree of environmental pollution and contamination, which is tied to the economic and political situation. Waste, toxins, gases from the fissures, from mining, from the industries that Piltover doesn't want near them exist throughout the underground, causing illness and shortening lives, Viktor's included. I think it's revealing to Silco's character how he treats his colleagues who have moved up where the air is cleaner and can't handle exposure to the gases.

Matthew Bertram

One of the most impressive aspects of this show is how seamlessly it can just drop in brand-new animation styles and even though it's 7 episodes in, it's never jarring or out of place. And it even stands out as some of the best and most effective scenes in the series. But at the same time, if the entire show was that Firelight/Ekko animation, it would lose its punch. They really had a handle on how to utilize their tools and make things grab you. The styles, music, sound design, writing. etc. Everything was just so spot-on to make this all work spectacularly together.

I will also say that even though Hector didn't want an explanation, Ekko (like most everyone in the show) does have "powers" in the games, and his powers revolve around controlling time. BUT, the show does a great job of reigning in these powers to be more like exceptional abilities than truly super-natural powers. So in the show, Ekko is more of a genius who's mind can work through every possible scenario quickly enough that he appears to have precognitive reflexes and foresight.

I would wager their hair is naturally that colour. Ekko's fade is white and that'd be a pain to dye. Plus Vai still had pink hair in prison. Which wouldn't be kept up with dye it'd have to be natural.

You know, people always say, they wish they could watch a series for the first time again. But after watching your reaction for the last 5 minutes I felt the exact same chills I had during my first watch. What a great episode. So hyped for the next two weeks :)

Ravjeet B

Well Arcane actually dropped each act on a Saturday for three weeks so we got to have conversations about each act as a whole. I was sceptical of this model but it actually worked for me at least.

PamRenea

Ppl were talking about arcane for at least 2 to 3 months fam. Yall just weren't in the timeline. 😂🤣. Luckily we brought it to ya

I think a hybrid of binge and week to week is the way Netflix might approach it. Arcane released each arc (1-3, 4-6,7-9) each week. You give fans the chunks they want while also keeping the conversation alive.

Eric G

Agreed. Love Spiderverse. But this team was working on this well before and deserve the credit for being revolutionary on their own just like the spider verse animators were. Kudos to both for changing the game.

This episode made me love act three. I also got chills in the during that bridge fight. I'm glad yall are enjoying this show. Next two eps are just as amazing.

Mark T Howard

Just realized that the voice of Caitlyn is the same actress as Cho Chang in HP & the Goblet of Fire.

Murph

Completely agree with your take on the week-to-week vs series drop conversation. Case in point, the greatest sci-fi show I've ever watched was Netflix's "Dark." I don't mention this to get you guys to react to it (although that'd be cool), but because I feel like the buzz over it died almost as quickly as it hyped. Amazing show. You guys should definitely watch it on your own.

Leosol

Ive been waiting for you guys to see the Ekko/Jinx fight for so long. You did not disappoint :D

Leon

i think this show was dropped only a few episodes at a time if I recall. I think it was like 3 episodes a week? Its hard to remember but it was a really good format that I think did the show justice.

Myles Away

It's so brilliant. Might be one of the greatest moments in animation history.

Carol Rozendo

Having a lot of fun with your reactions. For me Arcane was the best thing of 2021. Hector is right, I never played the game but I read somewhere that Ekko has time or speed altering abilities. It was amazing how they used it to bring back their time together as kids... I hope they explore that power more, it's awesome

I honestly can't separate my favorite episodes but I seriously think episode 7 or 9 are my faves. But they're only excellent because of all the work done in the previous 6 episodes. I'm also picking up so much on a second view, like there's no words when Vi runs back to Caitlyn, after the explosion, but you can see the care and relief on her face that she's alive, which is such a credit to the animation.

Antonio Guzman

week to week was brought back by Mando

Jonathan Frederick

Incase you guys didn't know... Hawkeye (Hayley) is the voice of Vi.

Alan Mesfin

New Patreon member here, and I just blitzed through all 7 uncut reactions of Arcane in 24 hours 😅

Finally seeing y'all react to the echo/jinx fight was amazing. it has been awhile since I originally watched it so seeing it again was amazing.

Andrew Brochtrup

I saw that scene as more of him remembering his time playing with powder, the same thing that jinx also remembered. I see it as more of a foreshadowing of his future inventions. Though the show left this very open ended so I easily could be wrong.

serendib

Shimmer in small controlled amounts has healing properties. Silco has been dosing himself with shimmer for years at this point to keep his left eyeball and he same side of his face from rotting off. That's why he can tolerate a brief exposure to the gases from The Undercity. Notice even Sevika needed a mask in that scene even though she too lives down in the muck. .Oh and Hector, go back to Ep 4 when Jinx hands Silco the gemstone ... her fingernails are anything but immaculate. The colors alternate between pink and blue but otherwise it's all very slapdash.

KRW

Yes! Jinx's chipped nail polish was one of those details that I was like "chef's kiss."

Felicia B

Favourite reaction video so far! Had to rewind to re-watch your reactions to the Ekko vs Jinx fight. Totally worth it!

Richie Gross

I love little details like all the plants dying in the Chem Barons scene.
