I love this episode. For me it doesn't need anything more than to be an exploration of these characters. There's something a bit clunky about how obvious it is that they're trying to make Owen more likeable, but I think it works anyway. The scene between Emma and Gwen talking about sex and Gwen's reaction when the topic turns to Rhys is just comedy gold. Also I feel like Jack's decision to allow John to die but be with him is something that wouldn't happen on Doctor Who. Which doesn't make it good or bad but it's interesting what it says about the differences between the shows.

You're not the first to notice the untied tie. My take is he's trying for a Rat Pack vibe - Frank SInatra etc.
