This was another quick replacement episode,when the intended script fell through. It feels like filler (and,in truth,little actually happens);but in re-watching,it's actually pretty significant. Trivia:the actor playing the man killed in the pre-title sequence also played a character in a 7th Doctor story. This made him the first actor to appear in both the Classic and Revived series. I loved your reaction to 'your first call-back' :) Obviously,there have been many already; but the Doctor's reference to a scene which you've watched in the Classic series makes it the only one so far in which you have first-hand experience. One of the pleasures of watching Who is catching these moments,and thinking "I know the one he's talking about!!" Now that you're watching the two series in parallel,there will be many more :)

I can definitely see it being a filler episode as a whole, but there were definitely some things in this one that needed to happen to set up things in the next two episodes. But, that's not obvious as you're watching it for the first time. Yeah, that moment made me really glad I've started Classic Who and excited to both catch future moments on this first watch and other missed moments if I ever do a rewatch. :)
