Staying with the golden hues from the concept, the obvious path forwards for the color was to play off the gold's compliment with rich blue tones. That manifested in the dark blues throughout the shadows.

Unfortunately, this is where my vision for this pieces started to run into some hurdles. The gold and blue palette wasn't cutting it and my mental image didn't really have any strong colors draw on. What ended up happening was that I experimented with dozens of different solutions until these pinks started to form on top of everything else. The result is more diverse than my usual palettes. Balancing the warm blue against cool reds and greens is outside of my usual experience, so every mixture going forwards has been a bit of a slower process. You'll see how this manifests in the PSD if you are a $10 backer. The number of layers I built up to get to this point is significantly more complicated than normal.

As I streamed the detail process on this yesterday,  I realized that there is still some symbolic pieces missing from this piece. As I continue to refine the elements that are already there, I plan on introducing some more subtle ones throughout the painting. Hopefully, they will continue to build on this idea of a angel that leads people to a brighter future.
