I had this idea to do a series of Archangel pieces that were all in the same longer format that Azrael, Grand Psychopomp used. Some of the Archangels have already had other versions, like Gabriel and Raphael. I'd like to redo this in a way that makes them all appear to match the same format.

The idea for them is to have a composition where they are all towering over a sprawling landscape. I want to lay them out so that there is deep perspective in both the top and bottom thirds of the piece, giving them an extra grand feel.

I stalled out on this Michael piece because:

1. I'm not fully confident in the design.
2. I'm not getting what I want out of the composition.

While I could finish this piece easy enough, I want to make an iconic series for the archangels. So I need to go back and revisit the progress that's already been made with a fresh approach.

Up until now I've been hesitant to take steps back with my work, so I've trended toward hiding my work until the paintings are mostly finished. But I'm trying to move away from that approach and back to a more honest representation of where I am with my process.

This piece is stuck for now, but I really want to finish it. So as I inevitably get bored/frustrated with PFPs, I'll revisit this design and see if there are parts of this painting I want to recover for the inaugural inclusion of Archangel Michael.
