Ah, rainbows. Everybody loves a rainbow :)

I'm back on the video recording horse, so if you want to see how this color scheme came together, check out Dropbox or Discord.

There was an obvious temptation to lean heavily on watery colors. Teal, blue, cyan, etc. Rather than just relenting to that, I prefer to do two things before settling on a palette.

1. Look at the reference I gathered a week before I got to this point to see if anything came up during the research phase that was interesting.

2. Mess around with it, testing a bunch of totally non-obvious solutions.

Both of these processes lead me to wanting to use pink, but only as an accent color. Starting with an accent isn't exactly a plan, so the rest of the thought process was me attempting to orbit around that idea and see what stuck. After including the golden colors for the halo, I ended up with a palette that reminded me of an oil slick. That works as far as the prismatic way that water droplets break apart light and it worked for me in terms of the emotional themes. So, without a much resistance, I came to this.

Side note: Astute observers may notice that Capricorn is facing the wrong direction. The rest of the series has gone left, forwards then right. I realized that I broke that sequence with last month's piece, so rather than trying to justify it through a leap of logic, I decided to create Aquarius facing forwards. That way, when the series is complete, there will be 4 facing each direction and it will arrange nicely as a set.

If you ever look at the website a few months from now and wonder why Aquarius is shown coming before Capricorn, you'll know that it has to do with direction they were drawn to be facing.

My original thoughts from the rough sketch was the prism, refraction effect. Loving the colors!
