I'm continuing with my approach to the Ace of Swords and I'm not unhappy with the results. This isn't the sort of thing I'm likely to make prints of, but I'd still rather make hand painted illustrations for the minor arcana than resort to printing the deck just using pips.

These are fast enough that I feel comfortable doing at least one per week. We'll see how the rest of this rank goes before I make any kinds of promises about the pace of this whole series.

I love the mystic and misty vibe of the illustrations, but my one thought is that a more traditional deck gives the person using the tarot a lot of symbols and images to work with and interpret. These very simple cards are more or less void of any symbolism except for the suit itself. They're very aesthetically pleasing, but I think a lot more challenging to use/interpret for more traditional tarot purposes.

I agree. I love the general look & feel of these cards but especially for those who are relatively new to tarot, the additional symbols/images are visual cues helpful while learning to interpret the meaning of the card.
